Movies you couldn't even finish.

I started the film because I wanted to keep an open mind. I love animals & @the samoan lawyer (I think) was the one who said it was a good movie.

I could care less if you watch Fast Five & then turn it off.

I was so looking forward to this movie. Until I began it & found out that all the Norwegian actors are speaking English. The British director Paul Greengrass thought this was best so that the movie would have worldwide appeal. What a dumbing down of moviegoers. The sheer absurdity of Norwegians speaking to each other 100% in English was ludicrous & totally ruined the movie for me. I immediately bailed out.

There is a genuine Norwegian movie depicting the same events on this day & I have pre-ordered it from Amazon.co.uk.

Lasted about 5 minutes.

Regarding Greegrasss's decision to have 22 July in English, he could have had the dyslexic in mind, therefore avoiding the "immediate remake" syndrome. Not that 22 July is high profile remake fare. Just suggesting that just because most have no trouble reading a movie, some genuinely do. I'm not one of them but I know someone who is.

Boogie Nights


I will not deny that what I saw was very well made and well acted, but leave movies about porn to porn movies and give Burt Reynolds something with a little more class.

5 minutes??? Come on now, it's Welles. Gotta let the movie build up a little at first.

Terrific movie. First time I liked Wahlberg in a movie. Burt Reynolds excellent.

Never liked Orson Welles. Took me decades to finish Citizen Kane & I wish I hadn’t bothered.

That's the second greatest movie ever, behind The Godfather.

What’s an Oscar nom worth?

Give him another try. The Trial, The Stranger and The Magnificent Ambersons are other really great movies from Welles. I think The Stranger especially is worth seeing if you're not a fan of the slow drama style used in Citizen Kane.

Oscar nom, not a win. Besides, the awards are just another form of subjectivity confused with "official status." While it's cool he got a nom, the truth is he'll always be better and more well known for Smokey that he'll ever be with Boogie Nights.

What was your issue, then? Clearly playing a pornographer didn’t tarnish any of Burt’s reputation and it’s largely considered one of his better roles (I personally loved how, in opposition of his usual stuff, Boogie Nights has him playing a muted square.)

You're probably gonna laugh, but I don't see any reason to watch OTHER PEOPLE get horny. That's not a story to me. I mean, Boogie Nights is just barely a porn film itself. I really don't need to know how many times a man can masturbate in one day. I'm not an old-fashioned grandpa or anything, but I do believe there's more to life than sex, and I don't think a film should use sex itself as a plot point for a two-and-a-half hour movie. I know the movie's about other things, but I think sex should be more personal than that. While I'm glad the film was treated more like a piece of art and cinema rather than a porn movie, it's still in a way erotica.
