I actually think DV might well consider bringing back Paul's dad instead.
That would probably be more impactful, yes. And an interesting twist.

There’s a further implication from the article that rankles me, and that it’s the idea that film must have some sort action packed set pieces for it to be worthwhile. For it to be well received. Like we can’t simply have a cerebral film that delved more into the political and philosophical debate of Paul’s ascension. Like we can’t just have a film that makes us think. Or challenges us on what we should consider a hero, or considers the warnings that Herbert intended when he wrote the books.

It’s a sad state of affairs.



It's up to DV to decide what the tone of the film version should be, but the book definitely sounds like a bit of a bore.
