Hot and humid days. It was so humid today that when I was driving in bumper to bumper traffic I thought I was in a really crowded sauna with a lot of nosy cars.

Things that annoy you...
I love heat. August is my fave month as I’ve noted a million times here.
That's what's funny i can't stand cold weather, i just don't like the drawn out daylight. The nights are really nice right now though and I'm enjoying laying in the backyard at night.

I watched 2 movies last night and went to bed around 11pm and the damn cats had me awake at 5:50 am.

Having a stupid cold, headache, that time of the month and deciding to have a lie in on a SUNDAY only to be woken up by some **** using a massive loud garden cutting tool on our street... lie in ruined. Sigh...

I still can't figure out how some people can operate a loud leaf blower for 3 hour stints at a time! Yet I SEE (and hear) them daily - I literally witness people chasing around a single leaf for a half hour at a time - now if they have many leaves (or many thousands of blades of grass) they end up running these blowers for hours at a time!
How come I can blow an entire block of sidewalks off in a matter of minutes, but other people will stand in a 10 foot square area and run their leaf blower for hours?
(If I use a leaf blower - which is rarely - and yard work is my business - I'm finished with it in about 5 to 10 minutes.)

Sounds like most days for me.

I think the reason so many people run leaf blowers for so long (outside of some odd addiction to noise) is they are highly ineffective.
They're almost useless for leaves (unless you're dealing with huge amounts and you're working with a partner or partners who are using rakes in tandem with the blower) because blowers tend to blow stuff in all directions. Since you end up "chasing" leaves, this is why people run them for such lengthy periods of time.
Rakes are far more effective, more considerate to neighbors and provide a great workout!

I work from home and live in an apartment complex. On Wednesdays, they cut the grass and trim. Do you know how much of a pain it is trying to work? I guess not many work from home now days.

I do, too. I also have insomnia. It’s usually the worst around April but this year it’s August. Cannot do anything, my bloody neighbours are having a barbecue and it’s too hot outside to close the windows, so I’ve been lying awake for hours now. Cannot even watch anything because I’m too tired. Oh the ****ing noise of everything. Just why?

It sounds more like an American thing, don't believe I've ever seen someone using one here and we have lots of trees out the back all along the houses.
I use a rake and broom and shove them all in the garden collection bin. You are right, a great workout. Or if I'm feeling lazy and they are dry I go over them with the mower.

Maybe I was just raised differently but it annoys the crap out of me when people are in a waiting room and there are no open seats and a woman or senior citizen walks in and has nowhere to sit and the grown men in the chairs refuse to get up and offer their seats to them.

I have to do "uptraining" for my job all this week, because someone in upper management thinks they know what is best. They don't know shit about my job and the best way to handle it.
All my teammates have had to take the same training.
When we start losing customers, technicians and employees, those upper management may not really care.

You have no air conditioning? I could not live without it. Well, maybe if I lived away from the city. I have issues sleeping too. I'm having hot flashes again. Doctor said they can come and go. A/c and fan at night is a must!
My brother suggested a white noise machine, and maybe I was too quick to dismiss it. My brain processes the ‘noise’ bit and goes, That can’t be good!
@Ellie, my pole gym does have aircon, but it happened to die last week… a pole workout subsequently did not take place, because no amount of grip aid or props can attach human skin to a pole in this weather without aircon.

I have lived in a few countries over the course of my life; grew up in Greece, and back there I couldn’t imagine a day without aircon (make that an hour, maybe?). In London, especially given I live by the riverside in the suburbs, it hadn’t really been an issue until the last few years. Now I’m beginning to agree that I need to get aircon installed. Ironically, though, it’s the noise and not the heat that gets to me, for the most part, and I’m really very sensitive to the latter, so historically even with the windows closed, I would wake up from every little thing happening outside, birds, foxes, people.
