Remakes better than the original?

Tools

Heat (remake of L.A. Takedown)
If... (remake of Zero for Conduct)
Ali: Fear Eats the Soul (remake of All That Heaven Allows)
The Departed (remake of Infernal Affairs)
His Girl Friday (remake of The Front Page)
Traffic (remake of Traffik)
Monsieur Hire (remake of Panic)
Nosferatu: The Vampyr (remake of Nosferatu)
13 Assassins (2010)
Vanilla Sky (remake of Abre Los Ojos)
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
King Kong (2005)
Ocean's 11 (2001)

And I consider Sorcerer about on par with Wages of Fear.
I never knew Vanilla Sky was a remake...doesn't change the fact that I don't understand the movie at all...maybe watching the original would help.

Judge Dredd (1995) vs Dredd (2012)
I prefer 1995 s dredd, because of armand asante and sylvester stallone

"Heaven Can Wait" was better than "Here Comes Mr. Jordan," but I like them both.
Hopefully Redwell was just kidding about "The Force Awakens." I get the comparisons to "A New Hope," and I liked TFA well enough, but I don't think it was the better of the two.
I guess most people know, but "Airplane!" was a parody of "Zero Hour" and the Airport movies. If you watch the extras on the "Airplane!" DVD, they do show a scene that was copied entirely from "Zero Hour."

movies can be okay...
Agreed.

Evil Dead (2013)

Light years better than the campy original.
Both are classics, and neither really accomplishes the same thing tonally.
