How certain are you that it was John Candy? And that it was a movie instead of a show or commercial.

I know for sure John Candy was in it. Not sure if he was the main actor though. The movie Boinggg 1985 doesn't appear to exist.

It could be Who's Harry Crumb. He may have been going under cover or something.

Its probably a skit from Second City TV

It's not from a skit or a tv show. It's definitely from a movie. Not sure if it's delirious yet, I'll have to check it out.

I was going to say this too. It happens near the end of the movie.
