Movie News I've Learned Today.

Tools

Been on the train all day today, so decided to buy myself two movie magazines to pass the time. Here's what I've learned today...

Mark Ruffalo has signed up to play Hulk in 6 more movies, one of them being The Avengers 2.

Seth MacFarlane has been using Motion Capture suits to play the role of Ted in his upcoming movie Ted.

Cronenberg's movie Cosmopolis is dubbed as being the weirdest movie of 2012.

Snow White And The Huntsman is said to be a pile of poop, except for Charlize Theron's performance.

De Niro's new movie Red Lights is set to be the most tense movie of 2012.

Men In Black 3 hasn't worked out the way it was intended and is said to be stale compared to the first two.

Julianne Moore is set to play Carrie's mother, Mrs White, in the remake of Carrie. The remake is also set to be closer to the book than the original film.

Anthony Hopkins is playing Alfred Hitchcock in the upcoming film Hitchcock.

The Three Stooges are set to make a comeback in the form of Sean Hayes, Will Wasso and Chris Diamantopoulos.

70s classic tv show The Sweeney also looks to be making a comeback, with Ray Winston in the lead role.

George Lucas' new movie Red Tales is set to be his last mainstream movie. He's planning to retire to his tool shed after the movie is released and enjoy a peaceful latter life.

I've read a 23 page special on The Dark Knight Rises.
But... I shall not divulge what I have read... all I will say, is that it looks to be an awards sweeper.

Last but not least... I've entered a competition to win 2 tickets to The Dark Knight Rises Premier in London and an overnight stay in a top London Hotel the night before the Prem.

True, but she's the best thing in it apparently. Everything/everyone else has been called one dimensional and wooden.

Quick Addition to the above list... Batman's new Batmobile is called The Tumbler, as we all know from watching the first two movies...

... the new Batplane that's appearing in TDKR has a new name too...

... The Bat.

Julianne Moore is set to play Carrie's mother, Mrs White, in the remake of Carrie. The remake is also set to be closer to the book than the original film.

Anthony Hopkins is playing Alfred Hitchcock in the upcoming film Hitchcock.
^ Come on, there are topics on the above two films containing those 'news' bits, you haven't taken a look at those topics on this message board then?

I knew a lot of these things but I do want a movie magazine to keep up with. The problem is my local newspaper doesn't have any. Anyone know a good magazine? One that you can subscribe to that they'll send to you.

If you want film news/more mainstream as a whole go for Empire or Total Film(Empire is the better one imo), for more on the reviews/theory side then go for the wonderful Sight & Sound. Don't know if they have different ones in America, but those are the main ones in the UK.

You could've just asked. I could've told you all that.

Wow! Either Empire has raised its game or Total Film has fallen a long, long way.

Six Hulk films? OMG. At least two of them will be Avenger squeals. I hope this is a joke.
It's the same with Tom Hiddleston who signed on for five more movies as Loki. I don't think it means that he will actually be in five other movies, but the possibility is there.

Just catching up. I've been using Empire and Total Film. Empire is defo the better, yes.
Total film seems to have more of a linear and serious layout and is less fun to read, it also has more smaller pieces as if they're trying to fit as much tat into the book as possible.
Empire has a sense of humour and lays the stuff out much friendlier to the eye.

It's in Empire about Ruffalo's Hulk: 6 more movies with a guaranteed one of them being Avengers 2.
They have mentioned that it's not been confirmed exactly what context the Hulk will be seen in though. Maybe a cameo in Captain America 2, or Iron Man 4, or a pile of full on Hulk movies, but he's signed on for 6 more appearances in the role.

I don't trust any announcements Marvel makes.

They were supposed to make a Hulk Tv show with Guillermo Del Toro. Now seeing that Hulk has got good response in Avengers, they are all about the Hulk.
I sure hope they dont take the comedy elements from Avengers & expect it to work in solo Hulk movies. I don't think I'd like to see Hulk being funny all the time.

Not another 6 Hulk films
& 4 or more actors to play Banner in them.

There are basically the same but Empire is slightly better in my eyes but it was a personal reason I didn't buy Total Film at the time. I didn't get Total Film because I refused to pay for a magazine that had porn adverts in the back of it, like it's only the male gender who read film magazines and they don't care about the female audience. They seem to have stopped this now though, the last few issues I've noticed they haven't added it in. Bought Total Film today with Bond on the front, no adverts.

We've gone on holiday by mistake
Actors being contracted to do x number of sequels is standard. It doesn't mean that they will actually do 6 more movies, it just makes it easier to get the actor back onboard without paying huge fees, like Downey Jnr.

I remember reading that all the "Inception" actors are signed up for sequels even though there most likely will never be more "Inception" films.

Empire is better but I generally buy both magazines. Empire is just a little more in depth. The 20 page Batman spread in the latest issue was a great read.

Don't you mean this the other way around?

Nope. I always thought that Empire was a blockbuster/everyman magazine, whereas Total Film, whilst still populist, was a better written, more thoughtful and less 'laddish'.
