What Sedai said. The only bits that are taken from the original films in this new one are the opening montage with his mother and when he puts on the hockey mask. Every other event is pretty much new, don't confuse lack of originality with it being a remake. Look at the Halloween remake- the last half of the film uses the same characters, same events as the original with some minor additions/twists thus is a remake even though the middle after the opening is new to the mythology. With F13 opening 5 minutes is remake with the same events and characters, the rest is new to mythology.
