Russell Crowe is a great actor. He may very well be a schmuck, however he is a master of his craft. His work in L.A. Confidential and The Insider should leave no doubt. What movies do you think he was bad in? Granted, I haven't seen every one of his films, but I've never seen a bad performance out of him, maybe a bad role, but a great preformance none the less.

At least partially because people are making a natural delineation between the term "actor" and "actress". Secondly because in the United States certainly, there are very, very few good leading roles in mainstream film for women.
