Silent Hill

There isn't much that I can say about this movie. It is a very solid movie adapted from the survival/horror videogame. My only real complaint with the movie was that I had hoped it would answer some of the questions that I had asked from the game. Instead of truly following the game's story line, it branched off into it's own story (which was good, but I have a problem with adapted movies that don't stick with the original theme).

Outside of the small snag that is more of a personal problem, the movie was very well constructed. The flow in the story wasn't to fast to where the ending felt drawn out and not to long to where it felt like it would never end. The special effects make-up was amazing in itself. The character in the displayed picture was very well done. The nurses are incredible also.

WARNING: "Silent Hill" spoilers below
I liked how the story had an incredible amount of depth. I enjoyed the battle between good and evil, yet how it seemed that the roles had been reversed in the end with the people who were trying to preserve good turned out to be the very evil in which they were trying to stop.

Silent Hill: 4/5

I actually liked this one as well and my teacher was the sound designer on it.

Blazing Saddles

At the moment, this is my favorite comedy and it will take a lot for it to lose it's title. I love how Mel Brooks is able to make fun of everyone for everything in this movie. Nothing is sacred and that is completely respectable.

Mel Brooks movies are my favorites to quote when I'm at work and this movie is no exception. How far he can push the line is incredible. If someone tried to do this today in the United States, they would be executed, publically. This movie makes me think about how far things have come and how much that they have changed in thirty years let alone fifty.

This movie is a timeless classic that I hope will never be forgotten.

Blazing Saddles: 5/5

The Blob

I think that I'm going to try and summarize this movie with as few words possible.

Decient at best.

The cast is average, the story average, the ending dumb. The only saving grace is the make-up was believable. It looked like people trapped in the blob were actually being dissolved in a horrid and painful way.

I know that I'm going to be ridiculed for this, but I am going to try and explain my position on my view as best I can so I can walk out of this review with a couple of friends.

I respect horror movies that kill off children. Now, my explination for this. Of all the people in horror movies that actually die, you never see a child die. My stance is that it is so taboo to kill children that I respect directors more for actually pushing the line and putting their neck out there. I personally don't like seeing kids die (unless it's the little bastards from kids, they deserve whatever they get) I do find it amazing how few people actually take that risk. It's nothing to do with children it has everything to do with directors/producers.

The Blob: 3.5

Where are the updates?
I've been working my ass off lately, havn't really had to much time to sit down and write reviews. I'm going to update them before I go on vacation.

Well, no The Thing in here yet, but if you ever enjoy a John Carpenter film, my money is on this one. Hopefully you can see it soon.
