can't really disagree...

although... not a 'great movie' but pain and gain was one of the most fun ones to watch.

Surprised with Wolf being so high but to each his own.

Couple of movies I personally would put higher

Pacific Rim
Gangster Squad

I would definitely rate them higher than Oz and Jack the Giant Slayer but agree with the rest (that I have seen)

gangster squad, you really think so? it's one of the dumbest movies i've ever seen. did have me laughing throughout, so i might give it that.

oz was decent enough. played it safe. didn't do a whole lot very well, but i thought franco was decent and the end sequence was fun/satisfying. mila kunis was awful, but hey.

jack the giant slayer was one of my biggest pleasant surprises of the year. didn't try to be anything it wasn't, but it kept me entertained/on the edge of my seat almost the entire film. the acting was terrific - it was just one of those simple, throwback action films you'd have seen a few decades ago. had that "ol hollywood magic" to it. ending was terribad (when they flashed to present day) but easily forgettable. very competently made/fun.

Pacific Rim didn't do it for me. I don't think anyone would argue it was anything but a dumb beat em up - but a lot of people loved the action. I didn't. It bothered me that they had a sword that was used as a last resort. It bothered me that so much of it was dark/hard to see. I hated every character in it. I hated every stupid cliche in it. Slight step up from a Transformers flick, don't see what all the hype was for.

I know it has people split - and obviously it's all subjective, but here's what I took from it. WoW is not the celebration of excess, it's its condemnation. Let's just get it out of the way - the movie's hilarious. It had me laughing basically the whole way through. Humor makes it easy to go along the ride with Jordan. He's doing terrible things, but you don't really question it because it's so much fun. THEN, you're hit with reality. Jordan's baby daughter's shown scared peaking through the door. And it makes you feel ****** for having enjoyed it in the first place. That it's a true story makes it that much more biting. What Scorsece did is soooo much more clever than just making some morality piece where they basically say "don't do bad ****" like Flight did. It's a movie about how dark addiction is and the movie tells that story in many ways.
