Connor Macgregor Reviews...Machete

Danny Trejo starring in his own film , in another of Robert Rodriguez's blood fests. This Is Machete.

The highly skilled Federale Machete is hired by some unsavory types to assassinate a senator. But just as he's about to take the shot, he notices someone aiming at him and realizes he's been set up. He barely survives the sniper's bullet, and is soon out for revenge on his former employers, with the reluctant assistance of his brother Cheech Marin, who has become a priest and taken a vow of nonviolence. If you hire him to take out the bad guys, make sure the bad guys aren't you!

Danny Trejo is a really good screen prescense , despite the fact its the same name than his other character in The Spy Kids Series. Never the less , he is a good new action star with a thurst for blood and action. There is a good star studded cast here including Robert De Niro in a good sleezy role and Steven Segal in a villian role for a change. We also get Lindsay Lohan , who despite flushing herself down with drugs and booze , still gets a steller performance. Others like Michelle Rodrgiuez & Jessica Alba are also good additions and i can't forget about Cheech Marin , Tom Savani & Daryl Sabara. I also thought Don Johnson had a good performance in this too.

The Action was also really well done and fit in with the cheesy grindhouse like story. A Great story too about The Mexican people having the right to be apart of a new society , good or bad.

Never the less , Fun Film and good action gives this a thumbs up.

Connor Macgregor Reviews...The Sure Thing

A Comedy i saw in college which i wanted to do a review on.

College freshman John (Gib) Gibson decides to go cross country to visit his friend in California during winter break. Awaiting there is a bikini-clad babe whom his friend assures him is a "sure thing". Meanwhile, Allison, a cute (but somewhat anal retentive) girl at Gib's college has also decided to head out to Cal. to see her boyfriend during break. Gib and Allison are thrust together on a road trip from hell, and somewhere along the way, they find each other's company to be tolerable. Now, what will become of Gib's "sure thing?"

Firstly , this film is very fresh and original. Its a teen road film and it focuses on the two main characters who are so different yet so right for each other. Both personalities don't match and they are heading to the same place to their respective wishes. But during this journey , chaos ensures and they discover more about each other. Two very good performances by John Cusack and Daphne Zuniga who both have great chemistry with each other and develop a very interesting relationship.

Its overall a good teen film with funny scenes , good acting and really an underrated gem.

I watched this on TV and my dad said that this is a good film , so here is my review of Speed.

A man tries to extort money by threatening to kill some people with explosives. And the city was about to give in when rookie cop, Jack Traven stops him. Jack and his partner, Harry find him and corner him but instead of giving up he blows himself up. He is believed to be dead but he actually escapes. He tries again this time he has placed bomb on a bus that will exploded if the bus goes below 50 mph. He dares Jack to stop him. Jack tries to stop the bus before the bomb is armed but Jack is too late; all he can do now is to keep it going. While Harry tries to find the guy.

Speed is a very interesting and original action film with a great edgy story as well as steller acting. Keanu Reeves i underestimated at first , but Speed i admit was very good in. Instead of plain face no expression acting , he actually puts in effort. Sure the character he plays is 1 dimensional but he himself delivers a good performance. Sandra Bullock is also very good in this too. A real good interesting performance that we don't get anymore from Bullock. And then we have the late Dennis Hopper who is as Dennis Hopper is always. Entertaining and enjoyable. Great screen prescense and a really clever villian.

The Action is limited. The Majority is the drama on the bus , but there are good action bits throughout the film that bring twists to the story. The Climax of the film is really entertaining and edge of your seat stuff , but the ending is a bit cheesy.

So Overall , Speed is fun and entertaining and a good recommadation.

I saw this today in the cinema and i wanted to give this a review because there is something about George Clooney that makes this movie work for me.

Alone among assassins, Jack is a master craftsman. When a job in Sweden ends more harshly than expected for this American abroad, he vows to his contact Pavel that his next assignment will be his last. Jack reports to the Italian countryside, where he holes up in a small town and relishes being away from death for a spell. The assignment, as specified by a Belgian woman, Mathilde, is in the offing as a weapon is constructed. Surprising himself, Jack seeks out the friendship of local priest Father Benedetto and pursues romance with local woman Clara. But by stepping out of the shadows, Jack may be tempting fate.

This film really drew me in from the start. The cold lifeless atmosphere that this world was set in. It didn't feel very right. It felt isolated. Clooney's character as you can tell from the start is trying to escape from the world he lives in , but for some reason he can't. Everytime he tries to settle down , its taken away from him. Clooney once again brings one of those dark cold performances that really work well off the screen. He might get nominated for an academy award again but its debatable. There are two other performances that i should note about and that is Irina Bjorkland who plays Ingrid who was really good and mysterious and also Paolo Bonacelli who played the priest who i also really liked.

The Locations are also incredibly good , helping with that eerie atmosphere Anton Corbijn is creating with his visionary. He is a fabulous director with a great mind for the screen. His direction and camera work are really excellent and i wouldn't be surprised come award season he would be up for best director.

Overall , The American is cold , eerie , dark and best of all isolating. It gets that same feeling from Up In The Air. The figure isolated in a world he knows too well. Only in Up In The Air , Clooney's character wanted to be there. In The American , he is trying to escape. Great film and you should use your money wisely.

What A Film....Simply What A Film!

Across The Universe is a fictional love story set in the 1960s amid the turbulent years of anti-war protest, the struggle for free speech and civil rights, mind exploration and rock and roll. At once gritty, whimsical and highly theatrical, the story moves from high schools and universities in Massachusetts, Princeton and Ohio to the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the Detroit riots, Vietnam and the dockyards of Liverpool. A combination of live action and animation, the film is paired with many songs by The Beatles that defined the time.

Words cannot describe how great this movie was to watch. Julie Taymor's vision is extraordinary and the love story between two people from different parts of society and how they come together is amazing. Its like watching art , very colourful passionate art being put together. The Imagery is so well done and so well placed that the film itself has its own mind and voice. The Story aswell is great. It deals with how the 60s was a decade of conflict and opinions as people all around were dying and suffering because of careless mistakes.

The Beatles are a amazing band and there stories really fit in with the story that is taking place. I admit not all the songs work , but most of them do and the story does move forward with the songs. Plus its awesome to hear The Beatles and how they affected society today. The love story is also amazing between Evan Rachel Wood & Jim Sturgees as i actually felt like it was a long romance that blended into society. It felt realistic and was potrayed really well.

Across The Universe is a very underrated film that deserves to be seen for what it is. Beautiful directing , storytelling , amazing imagery and to celebrate one of the greatest bands of all time.

One of those films that reminds me why 90s movies were that damn good.

Cher, a high school student in Beverly Hills, must survive the ups and downs of adolescent life. Her external demeanor at first seems superficial, but rather it hides her wit, charm, and intelligence which help her to deal with relationships, friends, family, school, and the all-important teenage social life.

Firstly , this film is really fun. Alicia Silverstone may be one of the hottest beings in this film and of all time. She is just so beautiful that i wanted to jump into the film and go out with her. A really charming performance with great wit and a flirtious personality. Paul Rudd and Brittany Murphy are both really good in this. Rudd's career has transformed through many years and im glad he is a major star because he so works as one. Brittany Murphy RIP because she was great in this. We will miss her so much.

Other great talent like Donald Faison , Wallace Shawn & Dan Heyada both bring great characters and acting to the film which is good fun to watch.

Overall , fun and a great enjoyment to watch , Clueless is a great cult hit that deserves to be seen and beloved by everyone.

I usually hate musicals but Across the Universe was good. Then again I am a huge Beatles fan. I would give it 3.5 to 4 stars.

i love it because of its directing and effects. But i do enjoy the story too.

I felt that i should watch the 2 leslie neilsen films i known in a sort of tribute. I also am going to review them , so ill start with Airplane.

Still craving for the love of his life, Ted Striker follows Elaine onto the flight that she is working on as a member of the cabin crew. Elaine doesn't want to be with Ted anymore, but when the crew and passengers fall ill from food poisoning, all eyes are on Ted.

This film is incredibly clever. Its a non stop joke fest with endless and endless of jokes. This is the film that christened the "Spoof" genre. I was sitting just chuckling and at times laughing out loud at every joke that kept hitting me.

I'll also say that the acting was very impressive too. Leslie Neilsen god bless him was funny as ever. Peter Graves was also very funny in this too and kind of sickening. I'll talk about Robert Stack who played Rex Kramer who i thought cracked me up too.

Overall , Airplane was entertaining and smartly made. If you havent seen it , now is certainly the time.

The Scary Movie franchise started as funny , smart and fun to watch. Then it all started going downhill...

A mysterious killer video tape is circulating around. One look at this tape and you have seven days left to live. News Reporter Cindy Campbell (Faris) witnesses this video tape and tries to work out a way to prevent her death. But this is not the only mystery to appear. Crop circles have been appearing in the local farm of Tom (Sheen) and George (Rex). With help from Aunt Shaneequa (Latifah), Cindy suspects that the aliens may be linked with the killer tape and must now work out both mysteries before it's the end of the world.

Firstly , this isn't terrible but you can tell that this was where it started to go wrong. There are some jokes that are funny like The Simon Cowell cameo and Near The Second Half with Leslie Neilsen , but there are a lot of problems with the film that didn't seem as funny as before. First , Cindy dont suit blond lol sorry but she doesn't. Secondly , there are a lot of meaninless jokes that dont make sense or string the plot along. With Airplane , the jokes either pushed the plot along or made reference to something in a airplane film. In Scary Movie 3 , it really doesn't.

When Leslie Neilsen comes on however , the film takes a different turn and the jokes are clever bar the well sequence. I also loved the news scene where Ross Giggins reads everything from the monitor and honestly , its flat out hilarious.

Overall , not the worst film of the series but one that turns the tide. But none the less has its highlights.

Connor Macgregor Reviews...Casino Royale

One of the best bonds and argueably one of the best action films made. It can only be James Bond.

James Bond goes on his first ever mission as a 00. Le Chiffre is a banker to the world's terrorists. He is participating in a poker game at Montenegro, where he must win back his money, in order to stay safe among the terrorist market. The boss of MI6, known simply as M sends Bond, along with Vesper Lynd to attend this game and prevent Le Chiffre from winning. Bond, using help from Felix Leiter, Mathis and having Vesper pose as his wife, enters the most important poker game in his already dangerous career. But if Bond defeats Le Chiffre, will he and Vesper Lynd remain safe?

Casino Royale is one of the most well made action films in years. It has a greatly paced and well written story that is realistic , brutal and sharp. Daniel Craig's performance as James Bond is the one that touches on the books the best. That serious cold personality which many actors couldn't touch. Craig however gets it bang on. Eva Green could easily be one of the most beauitful bond women in The Franchise's history. And The Villian Le Chiffre played by Mads Mikkselsen is chilling and enjoying to watch.

The Action Scenes are brutal. They make you feel that the actors are getting hurt with the stunts. Also its non stop. Once a stunt ends , it gives you barely any time to breath and get ready for the next action piece. Its exhuasting yet breathtaking to watch.

With amazing acting , story telling , directing , score and stuntwork , Casino Royale is a pitch perfect bond film that will be remembered for years to come.

Great review on Casino Royale!! I agree with you whole heartedly. It was a phenomenal movie and one of the better Bond movies.
