Question for movie collectors

Tools

I want to know if it's normal to pay like 30,40$ for a out of print criterion movie? I find it really expensive for only one movie, but I can't really find the movies for less.

Exemple The Third Man, Le Trou, Dead Ringers, etc.

thanks

I don't know about the others but I have 3 copies of The Third Man on videotape, all picked up in thrift stores for a buck or 2. It is not rare.

Young Skywalker. Missed you, I have...
If you want to pay that amount for them go ahead, I would hold out and look at thrift shops. I have a movie on VHS that I love, thay never put it on DVD. I was looking for it on DVD online and saw that VHS copies are selling for around $40 on eBay. I think I paid 50 cents for it at a thrift shop.

I know someone who paid 180 for an out of print copy of The Third Man Criterion Blu-ray. They're from Denmark so I'm not sure if that is US dollars or Euros or whatever.

In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

cuz they are usually worth it

Download The Third Man and Le Trou (1960) as a torrent on Piratebay, etc.

Dead Ringers is available on Youtube.

Yeah, keep that yourselves, please. Find mentioning it, but any discussion of how to do it is strictly prohibited here.

It's also not technically answering the question, anyway.

Last time I purchased any of these they were about $20. If they aren't available for (legal) streaming/download then I'd say there's nothing abnormal. It's just supply/demand. Sometimes I run into books which I can only find used for $100+. The sellers know I can't simply but it for $10 from B&N or AMZN.

When I think about it I almost like the fact that criterion products are that expensive. It shows us that they care about what they do and that they are paying their employees with a respectable salary.
