MoFo Fantasy Football 2019 - Sign-Ups!
What, really? Yes, really. Really.
We're just weeks away from a potential draft already (sorry, I usually get this up a week or so earlier). So let's move fast this year! What even is this? The members on this site play in a fantasy football league. This will be its twelfth (!) year, and it's a pretty great league. We play with 12-14 teams, and even though there's no money on the line we have a very high retention rate. This league is almost exclusively populated by competitive, engaged owners. It probably helps that I buy the winner this trophy each year: http://www.movieforums.com/community..._med.jpg&w=600 Can I play? Yes! Well, maybe. As I said, we have high retention, and some years we only have a slot or two open. This is a Movie Forums league, so heavy preference is given to people who are active on the forums, and this applies even to returning owners. We also give some preference to returning owners, since that kind of continuity is cool, but we lean a little more towards the first criteria. So if you're a regular you stand a decent chance of nabbing a spot. And even if you're kinda in-between, hey, it doesn't hurt to throw your helmet in the ring, provided you can pass concussion protocol after. If we don't have room, there's sometimes a spillover money league depending on interest (it's just $50), and it usually has several of the same owners anyway. How do I sign up? Just reply in this thread and say you'd like to play, and you'll be considered based on all the stuff I mentioned above. You may or may not get in, but there's no shame in asking! And asking and not getting in one year will be considered the next year as a possible tiebreaker, too. Confirmed: Yoda |

Money league couldn't get enough last year, so we'll see. Long shot unless a few owners can "bring" someone with them who's interested, probably, but we'll see. |

I would like to play if y'all would have me. I am in 2 other leagues, one for money and one not. So if you can have me in the one for no money and the trophy I'd be all in. Probably won't have much interest in the one for money if there is a bunch of spillage over to form another league.
Just throwing my name in, no biggie if not! Also what site do you use for the league? ESPN, Yahoo, etc? Always been partial to Yahoo ;-) |

Yeah, we've used Yahoo. I like both okay, but Yahoo's straightforward and familiar for all of us.

I guess they haven't set up the official pre-draft rankings yet, who do you all think will number one overall? I doubt it will be Gurley again because he's hurt.

On one hand, players talking openly about fantasy (like apologizing to their owners) is kinda funny/cool. It's also kinda weird. Not sure what I think about it overall.

Half-PPR, find it makes for a really nice balance. A few other quirks of standard scoring you can check out on the league site.
Last few years I've just determined draft order randomly, usually a couple of weeks in advance so people can mock accordingly. Once we've got all the owners confirmed I'll do that. Probably by early next week. |

Oh, and 14 works great because it lets us do a 13-week regular season where everyone plays everyone else exactly once, and we have 6 playoff teams with the top two seeds getting byes. Decent number of teams make playoffs but not half, real reward for being a top seed too. I really like the way it balances out.

Okay, about to determine draft order! Doing it the same way I have the last few years: I make a list of all the teams (just in the order they're on the league site, since the starting order doesn't matter), and use www.random.org to generate a number between 1-14. Whatever comes up, that's the team that gets the first pick. Then I remove them, generate a number between 1-13, and keep going until the whole order is determined.

Also, if we have to move the draft back an hour or two, would anyone object? As of right now it's August 25th at 4:30 ET, but I'm assuming the west coasters would prefer it slightly later and I might as well. Not sure if that poses an issue, if so lemme know.

I moved the time back a bit (6:00 PM ET, 3:00 PM PT) since there were no objections, to make sure all time zones can make it easily. Let me know ASAP if there's any issues. I'll tag everyone in advance per usual. Probably Friday AND Sunday since I think some people might not check over the weekend. You'll get an email, too, so I hope you check the address associated with your team. Obviously it's always a bummer if (uh, when?) someone just forgets and autodrafts. |

Well I'm pleasantly surprised with my team. :) Even though his healths in question being able to get Todd Gurley with the 13th pick in the first round seems like a gift.

My draft was OK. Not spectacular, not a disaster. WR is my weak point. Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson are my QBs, Nick Chubb, Mark Ingram, Sony Michele, Josh Jacobs, and Kalen Ballage are my backs, Travis Kelce and Vance McDonald are my TEs, with Adam Thielen, Will Fuller, Sammy Watkins, Jamison Crowder, and Michael Gallup as my WRs. I have Ka'imi Fairbairn as my kicker and Minnesota as my defense. If Fuller and Watkins stay healthy or Gallup turns out to be a phenom and they overachieve a bit this season I'll be alright. And I don't know that I am buying Cleveland as the fantasy points machine they are predicted to be, but I hope Chubb turns out to be a consistent threat and not a bum first pick for me (I had sixth position in our ten team league). As the defending champion in my league I don't feel like I am sitting on an easy path to a bunch of victories (I am -10 in my opening week pairing), but we shall see. Have a great season, MoFos! *my league starts a QB, three WR, two RB, a TE, two FLEX, a K and a DEF and we have a five-spot bench |

I might have done it this year, though by the time I saw the call it was too late and you were full up.
Plus your draft day wound up being a conflict for me and I would have hated to autodraft. I'd rather not play than play an autodrafted team. |
