I'm in too.
First non 30s HoF for me ;) |

Now I just have to decide if continue my young girl streak (which I sadly already broke in 30s HoF II) :D

Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame
I am torn about what to nominate and am kind of leaning towards something I expect several people will hate.
|
Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame
I like the new rule.
This week, in anticipation of this thread popping up, I've been trying to narrow down what I want to nominate. But as per usual, I'm no closer to deciding haha. I'll figure something out before the deadline though. |

My nom is a a movie that takes a scroungy fella and turns him into a righteous hopeless.
|
Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame
I went with a newer movie this time. I think it will get mixed reactions, but I really liked it.

I've decided to go with the movie I was leaning towards. I expect it'll finish close to last but it will be interesting to see how people react. |

Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame
I'm planning on going on vacation. We were suppose to go on the 10th or 11th, but I caught a cold and now my wife has it, so it might not be until later next week. I might miss the reveal, but I will post right before leaving.

just saw this, and I a definitely in.
STILL can't make up my mind on what to nom but I do like the "not too many will like my nom, but, hey, screw it, here it is," vibe going on so I may just go with a favorite of me own and via for the bottom vote with the rest of ya. |

I'm glad to see more people joining. I'd thought that participation might be light with 3 other HoFs going on. But this is shaping up nicely! Long live HoFs:)

got a REAL good feeling this is going to be a wonderfully diverse General HoF
|
Are we going to get that sci fi/fantasy Hall @CosmicRunaway?
I went with the non-science fiction one for this one but if you don't think you'll do it let me know because I'll be nominating that one for Hall of Fame 18. |

Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame
By the way @Miss Vicky, I like the new rule of checking in every week. It just ensures a lit of people not wasting time with no inations that will not be eligible and it does it in a very fair way.
|

Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame
Fair enough.
|
I think the new check in rule might work well:up: and weed out the dropouts early on. I hate it when someone doesn't participate but won't bother to tell the host that they've quit, that ends up wasting everyone's time..and that happens a lot in HoFs.
I made a similar rule in the 1930s Hof

New HoF members will need to post their movie write ups on a regular basis. 1 write up in the first 2 weeks, and 3 in the first month and so on. That way we know your keeping up. If too much time passes without any activity from someone, their movie with be disqualified.. |
Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame
I had to drop out of one HoF and still feel bad about it.

You have a good track record: joined 8 Hofs, dropped out only 1 time...so no worries:) |
Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame
Yeah I really like that rule as well. It's annoying when participants are in limbo especially as a host.
|
Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame
BTW, if I notice that someone is overdue for a check-in, I'll post about it in this thread so people will know to maybe hold off on watching that person's nomination for at least a few days.
|
Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame
it's an excellent rule and with any luck, may prove to be a form of remedy for those that drop out without any word.
|
Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame
I'm in! I've been on a movie slump as of late this will definitely help me get back in my game! Will think of a nomination today!
|
Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame
Looks like we're at 13 people now, which will put the deadline for viewing/voting tentatively somewhere in mid December. Quite an interesting mix of nominations so far. Still waiting on a nomination from one of the participants, but sign-ups will remain open until midnight Pacific Time Friday. I'll announce the official deadline when I reveal the nominations on Saturday.
I have to work Saturday morning, so the reveal will likely be at around 2:30 or 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time that day. |
Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame
I can't commit to a big hall of fame right now but I'm still keen to see what the noms are!
|
Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame
I'm really excited for this and I'm way too impatient
|
I managed to watch the two films I had in mind to nominate, but wasn't really feeling either of them.
I did however just finish a film on Netflix that I've been meaning to watch for a few years now, and went with that one instead. It's actually by the same director as one of the other films I had in mind. |
Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame
Hopefully there's a nice mix decades wise. I went with a relatively newer film again.
|

This makes me a little sad - not because of the HoF, but because I'm finally realizing how late in the year it actually is already. While I'm perfectly fine with fall, I'm not prepared to even think about winter yet. And fully agree about winter, I am NOT looking forward to the cold again!! I SOOO get why so many folks move to Florida and Arizona when they get old. Didn't when I was young, but definitely do, now! |

Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame
Fall's always been my favorite. And like pahaK says, not too hot, not too cold.
For me, Spring has always been that relief time of Winter being over, TIME TO BUY FLOWERS for the garden!! though I imagine, NOT having full advantage of all four seasons, I probably wouldn't appreciate the changes as much. (or the right to gripe about them) lol |
I like fall the best, start of the NFL and NBA.
|
Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame
You know what I like about spring? It's a new beginning, with the promise of things to come.

YAY you! ;) |
October is my favorite month, especially this October I don't know if I'll get around to watching any Hall of Fame noms that month. I've only got 7/8 nights where I don't have something planned to watch.
October 1st - Chiefs vs Broncos October 2nd - Hellfest October 3rd - MLB WC Yankees vs A's October 4th - Venom October 5th - PFL 8 October 6th - UFC 229 Khabib vs McGregor October 7th - October 8th - October 9th - A Star is Born October 10th - Halloween (1978) October 11th - Eagles vs Giants October 12th - Bellator 207 Mitrione vs Bader October 13th - PFL 9, Bellator 208 Fedor vs Sonnen October 14th - First Man October 15th - 49ers vs Packers October 16th - October 17th - October 18th - Halloween (2018) October 19th - October 20th - PFL 10 October 21st - Serenity October 22nd - October 23rd - World Series October 24th - World Series/Rams vs 49ers October 25th - Suspiria October 26th - World Series October 27th - World Series/UFC FN Volkan vs Smith October 28th - World Series/Saints vs Vikings October 29th - October 30th - World Series October 31st - The Shining (1980) |
My plans for October is a movie every single night! Maybe a few classic old horror films too.
|
Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame
Hey Vicky, I think I might join. Mind saving me a spot? I'm having the most awful time trying to pick between three films.

It's too bad fall wasn't before summer, then I would like it even more. Because winter is so damn depressing. But yes fall is the best.

Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame
Sent my nom.
That was actual torture. Two hidden gems and I can only nominate one. I decided to nominate the spooky one of the two considering you can all watch it around Halloween. |
Sign ups are still open for about another 6 hours and 30 minutes, if anybody is lurking in this thread and is on the fence about joining.
The reveal for the nominations and the deadline announcement will be tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. Pacific Time. |
Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame
that should put it around 6:30pm Eastern for me. I will be keeping an eye out. Should be a pretty eclectic group of films.
EDIT:: make that 5:30 pm. :goof: |
