It's true I skipped that, but I'm not a huge fan of B movies and I'm not watching anything for this one until I complete my 30's watching.

Bud light draft is just fine after you've polished down about 10;)

I like the new rule.

This week, in anticipation of this thread popping up, I've been trying to narrow down what I want to nominate. But as per usual, I'm no closer to deciding haha. I'll figure something out before the deadline though.

Ha, that made me laugh:p You know if we ever did Cricket's HoF idea of each of us selecting a different movie for each member with the goal trying to choose a movie each member would really like, I think I know the perfect film for you. It's suppose to be pretty good.

I actually changed my nom from what it was going to be last minute.

My nom is a a movie that takes a scroungy fella and turns him into a righteous hopeless.

Ah, that makes more sense.

I've decided to go with the movie I was leaning towards. I expect it'll finish close to last but it will be interesting to see how people react.

No worries. If you miss the reveal, just check in when you get back. I have no doubt you'll complete the HOF.

Yep, nice turnout. We're at 12 people signed up so far, though @CosmicRunaway and @Nathaniel still need to submit their nominations.

I was going to rewatch the ones I have in mind before deciding, but I can certainly hustle to pick one if you want to start sooner.

I went with the non-science fiction one for this one but if you don't think you'll do it let me know because I'll be nominating that one for Hall of Fame 18.

Probably not for a while yet since there are a few other HoFs on the go right now, and I think the Second Chance HOF was starting soon as well.

It's a temp ban for one week. He could still stay in....

rauldc14 09-10-18 10:06 AM

Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame

By the way @Miss Vicky, I like the new rule of checking in every week. It just ensures a lit of people not wasting time with no inations that will not be eligible and it does it in a very fair way.

Miss Vicky 09-10-18 10:40 AM

Originally Posted by TheUsualSuspect (Post 1948162)

It was Joel's choice to drop out and I think it's probably for the best given the circumstances under which he was banned.

TheUsualSuspect 09-10-18 11:17 AM

Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame

Fair enough.

Citizen Rules 09-10-18 01:30 PM

I think the new check in rule might work well:up: and weed out the dropouts early on. I hate it when someone doesn't participate but won't bother to tell the host that they've quit, that ends up wasting everyone's time..and that happens a lot in HoFs.

I made a similar rule in the 1930s Hof

New HoF members will need to post their movie write ups on a regular basis. 1 write up in the first 2 weeks, and 3 in the first month and so on. That way we know your keeping up. If too much time passes without any activity from someone, their movie with be disqualified..

It's understandable that things can come up and people might have to drop out occasionally...as long as they announce they're dropping out (like Joel just did).

You have a good track record: joined 8 Hofs, dropped out only 1 time...so no worries:)

Jay Redrum 09-10-18 02:36 PM

Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame

Yeah I really like that rule as well. It's annoying when participants are in limbo especially as a host.

Miss Vicky 09-10-18 02:53 PM

Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame

BTW, if I notice that someone is overdue for a check-in, I'll post about it in this thread so people will know to maybe hold off on watching that person's nomination for at least a few days.

edarsenal 09-11-18 03:33 AM

it's an excellent rule and with any luck, may prove to be a form of remedy for those that drop out without any word.

I'm in! I've been on a movie slump as of late this will definitely help me get back in my game! Will think of a nomination today!

Miss Vicky 09-11-18 01:03 PM

Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame

Looks like we're at 13 people now, which will put the deadline for viewing/voting tentatively somewhere in mid December. Quite an interesting mix of nominations so far. Still waiting on a nomination from one of the participants, but sign-ups will remain open until midnight Pacific Time Friday. I'll announce the official deadline when I reveal the nominations on Saturday.

I have to work Saturday morning, so the reveal will likely be at around 2:30 or 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time that day.

CosmicRunaway 09-11-18 04:39 PM

I managed to watch the two films I had in mind to nominate, but wasn't really feeling either of them.

I did however just finish a film on Netflix that I've been meaning to watch for a few years now, and went with that one instead. It's actually by the same director as one of the other films I had in mind.

Have you done a HOF before? The general rule for HOF deadlines is 1 week per nomination. We're at 13 participants right now, which would put the deadline at roughly December 15th. I know people tend to get busy around that time of year, so if people are struggling towards the end, I may consider an extension.

That's cool. I don't usually do specialty HOFs and couldn't remember her from any of the generals I've done so I wasn't sure.

This makes me a little sad - not because of the HoF, but because I'm finally realizing how late in the year it actually is already. While I'm perfectly fine with fall, I'm not prepared to even think about winter yet.

And fully agree about winter, I am NOT looking forward to the cold again!!
I SOOO get why so many folks move to Florida and Arizona when they get old. Didn't when I was young, but definitely do, now!

Yes. I'd be happy with only two seasons - spring and fall. I don't like too hot or too cold.

edarsenal 09-12-18 03:47 PM

Re: 17th MoFo Hall of Fame

Fall's always been my favorite. And like pahaK says, not too hot, not too cold.

For me, Spring has always been that relief time of Winter being over, TIME TO BUY FLOWERS for the garden!!

though I imagine, NOT having full advantage of all four seasons, I probably wouldn't appreciate the changes as much. (or the right to gripe about them) lol

October is my favorite month, especially this October I don't know if I'll get around to watching any Hall of Fame noms that month. I've only got 7/8 nights where I don't have something planned to watch.

October 1st - Chiefs vs Broncos
October 2nd - Hellfest
October 3rd - MLB WC Yankees vs A's
October 4th - Venom
October 5th - PFL 8
October 6th - UFC 229 Khabib vs McGregor
October 7th -
October 8th -
October 9th - A Star is Born
October 10th - Halloween (1978)
October 11th - Eagles vs Giants

My plans for October is a movie every single night! Maybe a few classic old horror films too.

Hey Vicky, I think I might join. Mind saving me a spot? I'm having the most awful time trying to pick between three films.

I actually just got a Halloween movie today. It's Vincent Price in House of Wax (1953), I've never seen it but have heard good things about it.

I like Vincent Price. I might watch it based on your review.

Sign-ups are open until 12:00 midnight Pacific time tomorrow night. As long as you have something picked out and sent to me by then, you're in.

If it's the one I'm thinking of, you should enjoy it, CR

It's too bad fall wasn't before summer, then I would like it even more. Because winter is so damn depressing. But yes fall is the best.

Sent my nom.

That was actual torture. Two hidden gems and I can only nominate one. I decided to nominate the spooky one of the two considering you can all watch it around Halloween.

Miss Vicky 09-14-18 09:25 PM

Sign ups are still open for about another 6 hours and 30 minutes, if anybody is lurking in this thread and is on the fence about joining.

The reveal for the nominations and the deadline announcement will be tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. Pacific Time.

that should put it around 6:30pm Eastern for me. I will be keeping an eye out. Should be a pretty eclectic group of films.

EDIT:: make that 5:30 pm. :goof:
