Was going to leave a "post comment" but they have character restrictions:

I thought you'd be interested in this, as it's very much inspired by a lot of the visual crticism that I often see you sharing/championing.

I was originally going to do my project on something a bit simpler, still movie-based, but found out my supervisor was someone interested in computer shape recognition, images, things like that. So I spoke to him about stuff and we came up with this idea. What I thing I'm going to try and do is see if it's possible to store subjective visual data as (kind of) objective facts, and create a system with queries/formulas that can identify when images are similar. I think it'll be fun and quite challenging at the same time, there's lots of things to consider, things that may or may not work, so it'll be interesting to see the result. I'll make sure to share anything interesting on here.

I think you mentioned the Carrell scene I referred to in your Mubi review. But that moment really insulted me, when he started crying, did the film want us to actually feel sorry for him? His brother stuff/personal life felt really tacked on, we had no emotional build up or reasons to care for him really, and it was really made worse by the distracting camera work, haha.

Yo, just wanted to make sure you got my PM about The Lion in Winter. If it doesn't work out, no big deal, but need to decide pretty much today if we're going to fit a podcast in in the next couple of weeks (since I'm doing an Oscar one just after).

Lee almost had it, and the film is still good, and one of the best shot films of the year, but he falters too
