When recently single Steven moves into his new apartment, cable guy Chip comes to hook him up—and doesn't let go. Initially, Chip is just overzealous in his desire to be Steven's pal, but when Steven tries to end the 'friendship', Chip shows his dark side. He begins stalking Steven, who's left to fend for himself because no one else can believe Chip's capable of such behaviour.

The Cable Guy tends to focus its satirical energy on a culture obsessed with television, though the satire is pushed to the side in favour of a rather dark odd-couple comedy involving a strait-laced ad executive (Matthew Broderick) whose desire to get cable TV in his new apartment leads to him being....

At times The Cable Guy goes into that foul and dated 1990's place where the music tries to be trendy but backfires on itself, but, there are some good scenes, namely when the camera dollies elegantly along side the front position of a couch where Broderick and his ex girlfriend are reacquainting for....
