For a film like this Deadpool 2 has far too many attempts for drama (which doesn't work in a film that doesn't take itself seriously) and too few jokes that actually work.

This story not only borrows characters from other movies, but also introduces new characters who might have what it takes to begin their own movie franchises, an onscreen audition if you will.

I found Deadpool 2 to be funnier than Deadpool, but I feel like Deadpool 2 overcooks it a bit with the comedy.
