No doubt. Mos Def most definitely stands apart from pretty much all other mainstream rappers today, since he has very strong ties to the alternative movement, namely Stones Throw. And, for me at least, his flow is pretty much the best I have ever heard. The way he writes makes everything he says sound 100% off-the-cuff even though it isn't.
