08-17-10Re: Why I didn't like Do the Right Thing
In most cases, the number one most important element for me is emotional connection with the characters. I struggled and failed to find that in this movie. There wasn't much development and many of the people in the movie came off as being more caricature than character. Couple that with the fact that I have no personal experience with this type of racial tension and so can't relate to it, and I end up being bored. -
08-15-10I see. I didn't think you'd been doing it for long. Personally, I doubt I'll ever finish any of the lists, simply because I won't watch those I don't like. Although I've seen Modern Times and City Lights, I was only about 6 or 7, so I've not checked them off.

08-15-10As expected, I did not like Modern Times. Not at all. And if I'm going to finish my lists, I still have The Gold Rush to get through. Ugh.
Visually/stylistically it was really interesting, though the acting left a bit to be desired. I enjoyed it enough for a single viewing, but it's not one I'll be adding to the collection.
