what i would give to watch The Lion King right now....
(huh?)
Every week I adopt random phrases/words for short periods of time, it's almost second nature and all my close friends ignore it now. Just to give you an idea my random sayings for this week:
1) smam (a combination of smash and slam......yes i know it doesn't work)
2) Aleksy!!! (i've been shouting my friends name out in a silly voice whenever I see him at uni, then he turns around and yells Joely!!!! :p)
3) rar rar rar (it's another way of saying blah blah blah. e.g. Then we had this big discussion about my assignment; she said part of it wasn't even on the topic, I cited badly, spelling mistakes, rar rar rar....and then she changed my grade anyway)
4) That's gold! (A friend of mine started saying it and I've just picked it up)
5) Lame (used in the context of expressing annoyance with a single word, e.g. crap, darn, uuoooohNO!, ect..)
6) Ok this last one is really stupid but somehow caught on and I didn't start it. you can use it anytime and I'll just show you what it is with two examples (a) "C - well look now it's broken! J - "your face is broken". (b) "B - why are you so late all the time" K - "your face is late". It's just so stupid but makes me laugh for some reason.

Had one of these flying around my bedroom last night. I called him Hercules :D
He's dead now. It was a quick and noble death, squashed on my desk with a Tellytubby mug over a sheet of paper (well I don't want to get my mug dirty, do I?).
But seriously guys, I'm still a man, right? There's nothing un-manly about being scared of a bug...right? They always say the bravest thing you can do is admit your fears, don't they?

It's an evil looking thing called a Maybug, and it's...aargh! I'm getting goosebumps looking at it. I don't know if it's a beetle or the result of man's destructive force on nature, but it's the most horrid looking insect I've ever seen.
He fought well, though. Right to the end.

i used to see May bugs around this time of year (May...) when I lived up in Massachusetts. i remember them being huge... but i never feared them... i had it in my head they were harmless. i don't even know if they are. are they?
plus, other than their size, they are not all that creepy to me... in the sense that, my nipples always stayed in tact.

i haaaaaaate it when i am trying to carry a full load of clean laundry from the dryer to my bed... its practically impossible not to drop a sock... and you can feel it slip from one of your fingers and you hate the fact that a clean peice of laundry is now festering on the floor... you try to go back for it and end up dropping a couple pairs of undies, a t shirt... so you turn around and make a beeline for your bed. then you run back and try to pick up the scorned laundry. its too late for the three second rule. you spitefully pick it up and swear that there was another sock... where did it go?

This gave a me a couple of chuckles so I thought I would share:
LETTERS DEAR ABBY ADMITTED SHE WAS AT A LOSS TO ANSWER
Dear Abby,
A couple of women moved in across the hall from me. One is a middle-aged gym teacher and the other is a social worker in her mid twenties. These two women go everywhere together and I've never seen a man go into or leave their apartment. Do you think they could be Lebanese?
Dear Abby,
What can I do about all the Sex, Nudity, Fowl Language and Violence On My VCR?
Dear Abby,
I have a man I can't trust. He cheats so much, I'm not even sure the baby I'm carrying is his.
Dear Abby,
I am a twenty-three year old liberated woman who has been on the pill for two years. It's getting expensive and I think my boy friend should share half the cost, but I don't know him well enough to discuss money with him.
Dear Abby,
I've suspected that my husband has been fooling around, and when confronted with the evidence, he denied everything and said it would never happen again.
Dear Abby,
Our son writes that he is taking Judo. Why would a boy who was raised in a good Christian home turn against his own?
Dear Abby,
I joined the Navy to see the world. I seen it. Now how do I get out?
Dear Abby,
My forty year old son has been paying a psychiatrist $50.00 an hour every week for two and a half years. He must be crazy.
Dear Abby,
I was married to Bill for three months and I didn't know he drank until one night he came home sober.
Dear Abby,
My mother is mean and short tempered. I think she is going through mental pause.
Dear Abby,
You told some woman whose husband had lost all interest in sex to send him to a doctor. Well, my husband lost all interest in sex and he is a doctor. Now what do I do?
you spitefully pick it up and swear that there was another sock... where did it go?
Through the portal (http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c22/matthewrosser/doodlecompo.jpg) of course ;)

I am attempting to make a list of all the things I must pack for this summer; now that I can say I am leaving in less than a month it doesn't seem too dorky too start thinking baout packing. I am also happy because school is out in two weeks and I just realized that today; I am also sad because next year is my last year in high school.
I am excited because I know that this summer will change my life. I knew some dreams do come true, but I never believed that my most hoped for dreams would.

i was at a karaoke bar last night and this young woman came in who i thought looked very much like Scarlett Johanssen... when she got up to sing i was hoping she'd sing "Brass in Pocket" by the Pretenders, just like Johanssen does in Lost in Translation, but she ended up actually having this really powerful broadway voice and did a song from the My Fair Lady soundtrack... and then later on she did an Elvis song. it was nice.

NO! I was thinking more along the lines of:
Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
Old Mother Nature's recipes
That brings the bare necessities of life
Wherever I wander, wherever I roam
I couldn't be fonder of my big home
The bees are buzzin' in the tree
To make some honey just for me
When you look under the rocks and plants
And take a glance at the fancy ants
Then maybe try a few
The bare necessities of life will come to you
They'll come to you!

You think you own whatever land you land on
The Earth is just a dead thing you can claim
But I know every rock and tree and creature
Has a life, has a spirit, has a name

things i am definitely not looking forward to, but will be happy to see them done (finally!):
1-giving my room a thorough cleaning this weekend (no dirty underwear on the floor, no hair from my hairbrush strewn around the wastebasket, no more cds about to be stepped on, no more piled up DVDs on my bookcase... clean sheets!!!
2-buying my sister-in-law her baby shower gift.
3-the baby shower.
4-spending time trying to find all my insurance papers and making a cute little folder for them and trying to actually find a home for them in my petri dish of a room.
5-spending far too much time waiting for someone that left me hanging a few days ago... and spending far too much time alone.

Just a Bit of Nothing
I know, I know. I often hijinx this thread (and many others) with my random self-absorbed thoughts, but this post my dear MoFo friends is for all of you.
I was thinking about how much I've grown up since I joined here. I was freshman, and now I am a day away from being a senior. And I was thinking about how grateful I am that I had a place to test "growing up" at. I've ventured in and out of here, and who knows the last time I talked about movies, but still; I may not have done the actual "growing up" here (in cyberspace), but I have, if that makes any sense.
So my dear MoFo's (the ones I "know", not whoever just registered), I wanted to say thank you. Thank you for giving me a place to be.
It's a pleasure having you around at MoFo Glitter. You are one true outstanding addition to this ever-growing movie loving community. :D

I am home now. It feels good to be home, even in this horrid, hellish heat. My month in Connecticut was there for the briefest of moments, and then I was back at home doing the same things I was doing right before I left. The first night I was back I lay awake in my bed thinking, "The last time I was in this bed I knew nothing of what I know now. The last time I was in this bed, I fell asleep wondering what I would know the next time I slept in it. And what I thought I was going to know and what I thought I was going to experience is so much different than what I actually know now."
It went by so fast, as time often does. I wouldn't change anything that happened, or more accurately, didn't happen. It went by fast, but I still feel as if so much has happened that it will take me a year to digest it all.
I actually believed that my trip would be an end to all my waiting. An end to the agony of not knowing whether or not I was cared for. But I am slowly realizing that my definition of being cared for is not the same as his. I made a decision that might seem painful and foolish to others. I am going to keep waiting. Not without hope though, no, I have quite a bit of hope. I wait now only because he's given me the hope of more. And it may sound like I am being led on--believe you me, the thought has crossed my mind-- but I am not. So I am making the choice and I am making the rather hard choice of putting aside what I want right now for the hope of later. And I am making this difficult choice not because I can't see myself without him, but because I don't want myself without him.
Nice to have you back Glittergirl

Do you mean the one where we smuggle things into the theatre like food? If that's what you mean then yes I have one.........or two.
Yeah thats it, guys arent so lucky if they arent going with a girl, and even then trying to talk the girl into putting a large bag of boiled peanuts, a bowl of chili, and a six pack in her purse is tough. So i Have my own movie purse that I pack and just get the girl to carry it, sometimes I have to have my brother wear a wig, but hey we save at least $20.;)
I have thought about it though.

Yeah, I always carry my oversized purse on movie days. Just enough to hold the Cherry Twizzlers, Box of Nerds, Goobers, and a bottle of pop. I never bring in cans cuz I hate to pop the top in the theatre it makes to much noise.

Right, the results took a while but so far it looks good, there are no signs of cystic fibrosis from the tests they did :)
Now my aunt is sick. Initial tests don't show any tumors or lumps, bumps, or anything too serious, but she's still having problems with her vision and looks anaemic.
Just gotta hope for the best really. Again.

Like the film The Exorcist? Want a life sized spooked out Regan (Linda Blair) to creep the wee-wee out of your pals? Well, you need the animatronic horror filled Regan robot thing!
It features a head made from latex with custom made eyes. She also comes with a 2-channel wireless radio and receiver to control her head and eyes which can be controlled from 100ft away! This horrifying thing plugs straight into your standard plug socket on the wall, so you can make her convulse and roll her eyes. It's a must-have for horror fans... especially the ones that like to play blood curdling jokes on their pals.

Pretty cool, but her head looks way too small compared to her "bod". Maybe this is a combo Exorcist/Freaks goodie? If so, I know plenty of people that would work for. Do you know if Regan has any appendages?

Ever see an exploding comet with the naked eye? You can see Comet Holmes right now and for the next few weeks in the constellation Perseus (it's the dim and fuzzy cotton-ball looking smudge next to the brightest star in Perseus). Just go out side and look up an hour or two after nightfall. Go here (http://spaceweather.com/images2007/05nov07/skymap_north_holmes.gif?PHPSESSID=qtqqr782r3u6rjhmtn22j4ge94) for a map of where to look in the sky. Try binoculars too!
It went from a magnitude 17 to a 2.5 in a day (about a million-fold increase in brightness) and no one really knows why.
Go here (http://www.skyandtelescope.com/observing/home/10775326.html) for a good article on it.

In a poetry mood today, so a little Robert Frost is in order...
Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Imagine a cute little silkworm all snug in his cocoon. Perhaps his name is Arthur.
He rubs his tiny hands together and thinks, "Finally. Tomorrow I get my wings!" Arthur drifts off to sleep with dreams of floating across a summer breeze... until he's unceremoniously slapped in a can, now destined to float through the intestines of a dumbass named Steve. (Cue: comical trombone.)
And so begins Steve, Don't Eat It - Vol. 9.
Someone recently told me they don't eat peanut butter because the FDA permits it to legally contain a certain amount of insect parts. This person might not want to buy a can of Silkworm Pupas. The amount of bugs in here is downright wacky.
http://www.thesneeze.com/art/pupapix/can300.jpg
The writing on the can is all in Korean. It just so happens that I have a Korean aunt who was happy to provide a translation.
The big red letters say "Bun Dae Ki" or "Silkworm Snacks." Apparently "Snacks" is a very powerful word. It's all you need to transform any putrid item into a fun new treat. The next time you see some kid go two knuckles deep in his nose and then consume the treasures within, don't be grossed out. He's just enjoying some Booger Snacks!
I won't bore you with every word on the can, but I'll hit the highlights...
http://www.thesneeze.com/art/pupapix/burst_on_can150.jpg
Any words in an oval demand attention. The yellow oval on this can says "High Protein - Great side dish when drinking alcohol." I imagine this came from the silkworm marketing team when faced with the nagging question "Who the ****'s gonna eat this?!" The answer: DRUNKS!
On the back of the can is a list of bullet points. One of them is: "Warning! Some people may be allergic to silkworms, and get blotches or break out from eating the contents of this can." Luckily I can't read Korean, so I'm good.
Sadly there is no "Serving Size" listed-- ruining my hopes that the serving size might be zero.
Alright, I've stalled as long as I can. It's time for me to get pupified...
http://www.thesneeze.com/art/pupapix/opencan300.jpg
I found it odd that the pull-tab was actually on the bottom of the can, until I realized this is just a time-saver for people who'd rather open it right over the garbage.
Below is a "beauty shot" of just one of the 106 pupae found in the
can. Mmmm. Is it me, or does that penny suddenly look delicious?
http://www.thesneeze.com/art/pupapix/penny_pupa2.jpg
http://www.thesneeze.com/art/pupapix/pile150.jpg
The silkworm pupas gave off a subtle, nutty aroma. Not strong like my nuts after a weekend with no shower, just more like their usual, end-of-the-day twang.
These little guys only cost me 79 cents. That's a mere 0.7 cents per pupa. Quite the bargain... for a can of dead, turd-like moths... in their own gravy... why God... WHY??
The pile of moist cocoons looked so sad sitting there (like so many piles of moist cocoons will) that I decided to cheer them up. Make 'em feel fancy! One doily, some frilly toothpicks and a few dry heaves later, and I'd say mission accomplished!
http://www.thesneeze.com/art/pupapix/fancy350.jpg
With pinky extended, I chose an an extra pupy one and popped it in my mouth. The silkworm pupas didn't have a strong flavor. In fact, they had the somewhat familiar flavor of bad canned peas. With just a hint of mildew. Overall, not terrible.
But what caught me off guard was the crunchy cocoon. Silk my ass. This was like chewing on tiny bones. The good news is I was immediately distracted by the unexpected squirt of briny liquid that shot out into my mouth. A little heads up would have been nice. (Am I right, ladies?)
Having gotten the tasting out of the way, I decided to conduct a miniature pupa autopsy. Armed with an X-acto blade I carefully tried to peel away the cocoon to see what I could find. What I found was, I have the knife skills of an epileptic monkey.
The cocoon just gave way to a mushy pile of moth guts. Or as I like to call them, Moth Gut Snacks!
The best I could hope for was a clean split, right down the middle. Which is ironic, because this type of cut is referred to as a "butterfly." (See, cuz it's a caterpillar... and the cocoon with the... thing... Look I didn't say it was funny, I said it was ironic. Get off my back, alright? What did I do to you?!)
http://www.thesneeze.com/art/pupapix/split200.jpg
That X-Acto would go so nicely across my wrists just about now.
All of this reminded me of something I had seen in one of my sons' board books. After a bit of searching I found it in the next to last page of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar."
http://www.thesneeze.com/art/pupapix/cocoon400.jpg
At the end of the story the little guy emerges as a beautiful butterfly and the transformation is complete.
http://www.thesneeze.com/art/pupapix/butterfly400.jpg
Please note the hole in the page. That was chewed there by my son. I used to think he did it because he was teething. Now I know he was just trying to eat the butterfly, and he takes after his daddy. That's my boy!
Alright, I'm gonna go get loaded. Who am I to disobey an oval?
But before I do, I've been feeling bad about our pal Arthur. Since he gave his life in the name of Steve, Don't Eat It, I thought it would be nice to give him the gift of flight after all.
http://www.thesneeze.com/art/pupapix/arthur350.jpg

2. If they start by asking you "How are you today?" ask "Why do you want to know?" OR reply with "Well, I'm glad you asked. My dog just died, my arthritis is acting up, and nobody these days seems to care.." When they start trying to sell you things, just keep inventing problems.
3. Works well if you're a guy:
Telemarketer: Hi, I'm Judy with XYZ Company.
You: (wait a few seconds) What are you wearing?
4. If a dry-cleaning company calls you, ask:
Can you get out blood?
How about human blood?
How about goat blood?!
5. Say "no" over and over again. Vary the tone of each one, and keep it up till they hang up.
6. Tell the telemarketer you work for the same company, and are in fact in the next cubicle.
7. If you're in the middle of dinner, tell the telemarketer to hang on. Put them on speakerphone, put the phone down next to the table, and continue with dinner. Eat loudly, talk loudly.
8. Answer the phone. As soon as you realise it's a telemarketer, put the phone down, wait a few seconds, and then scream OH MY GOD, NOOO!
9. Ask them to fax you the information, and make up a fake number.
10. Insist that the caller is really your buddy Leon, playing a practical joke.
"Cmon, Leon! Cut it out! Seriously, how's your mum?"
11. Ask them to repeat everything they say, several times.
12. Tell the telemarketer you are under home arrest, and ask them to bring you some beer.
And, finally:
13. Tell the telemarketer:
"Okay, I'll listen to you. But I should probably warn you, I'm completely naked right now."
Enjoy!
Note: I have actually tried some of these. They work, so well.

Just about all the ancient cultures dined on insects/bugs and many were and still are considered a delicacy - they're still on the menu in a lot of countries today.
Survival training courses teach people to eat them... I have a friend who says locus taste just like butter... :D
