Just as with the Noir list, a plea not to let the thread get too bogged down in arguments about our different definitions of what is and isn't a musical and appreciate the films that appear. I tried to keep the criteria as open as possible to allow for different interpretations. That said, there is one film on the list that technically doesn't fit the criteria of having songs. However, given the number of people who voted for it in good faith and the logistical difficulties of changing all of their votes, I've decided after much deliberation and consultation with others behind the scenes to let it stand.

You should have a PM with your ballot in your inbox :)

Seconding this, particularly because the horse is very much out of the barn anyway.
Enjoy the list for what it is! :)

Joe's Apartment
https://media.themoviedb.org/t/p/w94_and_h141_bestv2/jITEDqVp2SonHCeC77dI5JaWD1t.jpg
This was mine. It's one of those really stupid movies that I probably shouldn't like but always have anyway. Here's my review from a couple of weeks ago:
https://www.angelfire.com/music6/walteregan/NewMFPics/funktowel.gif
Joe's Apartment
(John Payson, 1996)
In 1996, MTV released their first movie - Joe’s Apartment, a feature length musical adaptation of a short of the same name (http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wj3ra_B1PVU) that used to air on the channel. Featuring a hoard of cockroaches that talk, sing, and dance, the movie is stupid, crude, and disgusting… and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t appeal to 15-year-old me.
But I’d also be lying if I said it doesn’t appeal to 43-year-old me. Granted, I’m sure nostalgia has something to do with that, but I actually find the movie to be genuinely funny. I laughed several times which is more than can be said for a lot of comedies. I also liked the musical numbers and the film boasts some surprisingly good CGI. Now of course this is by no means any kind of masterpiece. It is a very stupid movie. But it’s fun. It’s also had a spot in my personal movie collection for many years and it will surely take a spot on my ballot as well.

Of the other one-pointers, I've seen A Week Away, The Brave Little Toaster, Muppet Treasure Island, The Forbidden Zone, and Rock and Rule. None of them were contenders for my ballot.

I saw a little of it as a baby, but I was old enough to know that I had started it in the middle of the movie so I never counted it as seen. Of course, I don't know if the original or one of the sequels was the one with a baby, so I don't know which of the three it was.

Here is one of my favorite films from my middle teenage years... that I have seen ONCE in the last 30 years. In 2005. How would it hold up?
I loved it.
This was so fun, I actually backed it up several times to watch scenes again and then when it was over I went back and watched the climax twice more.
So what the hell is it?
Well, it's a Canadian, Bakshi-esque animated film about an aging Rock superstar in a post-apocalyptic world populated by anthropomorphic animals, searching for the voice that will help him raise a demon and rule the World.
The Rock-star, the villain of our story, is a sort of combination of David Bowie, Iggy Pop, and The Grinch, name of Mok...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJa0Zv5gHSU
... and the Heroine, possessor of the magic voice, is Angel (seen here with demons)...
https://i.imgur.com/cgizAbh.jpg
... an aspiring singer in a cut-rate band with a selfish ******* leader, Omar.
But man, is this film fun. The Bakshi influence is obvious but there's also some other, edgier animation in parts, as well as some really great imagery at times...
https://i.imgur.com/5zihDdJ.jpg?1
Not to mention, Mok is voiced, in song, by both Lou Reed (in the song above and another) and Iggy Pop, Angel by Debbie Harry (singing the haunting and triumphant "Send Love Through"), and Omar by Cheap Trick's Robin Zander. The songs, in general, are quite memorable.
That's a lot of entertainment for a few bucks.
Anyway, this film delivered for me in a big way. The nostalgia factor was so great that I actually started crying the first time Angel sang her song. No joke. But it also struck me how much better the whole production is than I expected, nostalgia aside. Imagine if one of Bakshi's better films actually had a cogent narrative that flowed and good songs by those superstars I've already mentioned and you have Rock & Rule.
Highly recommended for people who like this sort of thing.
I would also like to mention that I had two movies I hated to choose between for my one-pointer... and someone else chose the one I let go of! I'm happy as can be.

Wow - so many of the 1-pointers I haven't seen. My pick was Shock Treatment - I know it's not a very good movie, and I can pick out all it's faults, but I love it regardless. I'm a huge Jessica Harper fan, and admire that something truly different was tried when it came to following up The Rocky Horror Picture Show. It goes down in flames, but glorious flames - I'd yearned to see it for so long by the time I finally found a video shop that stocked it, and from there on I've probably watched it 100 times. What can I say - I was young when I started.

aka Queen of the Gypsies, original title: Табор уходит в небо (1975)
Written and Directed by Emil Loteanu
Soviet musical drama romance, a colourful presentation of the gipsy minority folklore and life in the early 20th century somewhere in-between the empires of Austria-Hungary and Russia.
Horse thieves, knives, variety of passions, jealousy... everything gypsies.
The film was popular during my early school-time.

For what it's worth, Hallelujah was my one-pointer. I will post a review I wrote a while ago here. The thing is that even though my rating might seem a bit low for it to make my list, the film really stuck with me (I would probably bump the rating a bit now), plus it has cultural significance as far as African-Americans and musicals go.

HALLELUJAH
(1929, Vidor)
https://i.imgur.com/DZeKtN5.jpeg
"I don't want to give in... but he just keeps on a-clawing and a-pulling after me all the time ... Just won't let me be."
The struggle between "flesh and spirit" is perhaps as old as mankind. In Matthew 26:41, Jesus urges his apostles to "watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." That conflict is somewhat transposed to the early years of the 20th Century in King Vidor's groundbreaking musical.
Hallelujah follows Zeke (Daniel L. Haynes), a young cotton picker who works along with his poor family. When he and his brother Spunk (Everett McGarrity) go to town to sell their crops, Zeke finds himself lured by the charms of Chick (Nina Mae McKinney), a seductive con artist who ends up getting Zeke in over his head. Even when Zeke decides to change his ways to become a minister, Chick continues to harass and seduce him.
This is the second film I watch as part of the TCM course "Mad About Musicals", and there are a couple of interesting things about it. First, director and co-writer King Vidor put it upon himself to make a film to show "the Southern Negro as he is". To do this, he used a group of non-professional black actors, most of which never had acted before. This brings up one of the first impressive things about the film. Considering the experience of the actors, the performances are quite solid, with McKinney in particular being the standout.
Most of the songs and dances portrayed are quite lively and, according to Vidor, taken from his own experiences while living in the South. Haynes' first rendition of "Waiting at the End of the Road" is beautiful, and McKinney's bar room "Swanee Shuffle" is great. There are also several musical bits after Zeke becomes a minister which I've read are quite faithful to the music of the times. Haynes' performance during this act is a bit too exaggerated for my tastes, but when one compares it to how preachers usually speak to the audiences, it's not that far out.
Unfortunately, Vidor and the script are more focused on taking Zeke from point A to point B than they are in the journey. Zeke's inner spiritual struggle takes a backseat as Vidor focuses on just speeding through the events and taking him where he wanted him to be in the end, rather than show us the whole journey. As a result, the events of the last act feel rushed and abbreviated. Zeke's relationship with Missy Rose (Victoria Spivey) is also underdeveloped. Still, there is a particularly unsettling chase towards the end that seemed like it was taken from another film.
Overall, I enjoyed this film more than I did The Broadway Melody, another musical that ended up winning the Oscar that year. There's a beauty in the rawness of the film, and the more accessible nature of the characters than there was in the Broadway stars of that other musical. What the film lacks in polish, it more than makes up for in spirit.
Grade: 2.5
It’s not the Christmas Carol, it’s Treasure Island.
Yep, how did I miss that?
My #25 is no longer a secret, I guess.

I'm a sucker for road movies, flicks about bands, and I love Aki Kaurismäki so of course I adore Leningrad Cowboys Go America. I didn't quite make room for it on my ballot, but I am glad at least it got highlighted a bit this way. Well, the funny thing is that Shock Treatment was the other movie that I was choosing between it and Rock & Rule. I was waiting to see who had picked it. Glad I chose R&R so that ST could make it but I'm also really glad somebody chose ST. So, yeah, you may like R&R.
By the way, my third one-pointer choice, which I had to cut down to the two above and then finally the one I picked, was Forbidden Zone. So whoever picked that, cheers!
The thought went through my head that this might have been your other potential pick. I'll have to do a Shock Treatment deep dive one day - it's one of those special movies I'd have one hell of a lot to say about. Looks like I should check out Forbidden Zone as well - that looks right up my alley. How have I never heard of all of these musical treasures?

I'm just saying, it's not a musical in the sense it doesn't have music that characters in the movie sing (despite me having the impression for IDK how long, that it was classified as a musical).

I know exactly what you’re talking about and I totally agree with you. Sometimes the music takes over the narrative for the characters
Was there a date given to start things up? Just asking out of curiosity, not to rush anything.
Hopefully/finally finishing my end of things tonight. So maybe in a couple of days? Don't wanna rush Thursday either, better to take a bit longer than to start and then immediately have to re-do or re-check something, of course.

While I haven’t seen it yet, I’ve read that Finian’s Rainbow (Ebert and The Coen Brothers for example) is actually quite good. It was, along with The Rain People films that showed that FFC was clearly in line for better things.
It’s a great film a little out of Copolla’s comfort zone but he does a good job

Last night I watched Finian's Rainbow for the first time. Francis Ford Coppola did amazing cinematography on the film. His choice of shooting locations really added to a uniquely 'alternative universe' type feeling to the film. Likewise his studio bound sets are creatively three dimensional which Coppola uses to give spacial movement in a two dimensional media (film). Impressive.
Coppola's opening sequence is stunning with Fred Astaire and Petula Clark (father and daughter) wondering the American countryside looking for the mythical Rainbow Valley, which we find out is located in the deep south. The deep south plays an intricate part in the story as the film is about racism and bigotry which was ripe in 1968 and on the forefront of people's minds and news headlines.
As much as I appreciated the artistry of the film and it's ideas, the scrip which was adapted by E. Y. Harburg and Fred Saidy from their 1947 stage musical of the same name, doesn't give the characters enough screen time to develop. I felt I hardly knew any of them and there forth didn't care about them. The one exception was British actor & entertainer Tommy Steele who plays a full sized leprechaun who slowly becomes mortal and falls in love with 'silent Susan' a mute girl who dances to communicate with people. There were some funny parts in the film and some good songs but the story never gelled so ultimately I didn't care for this.
This preamble to our countdown is brought to you by Hoover vacuums!

I can never remember if I've actually seen The Meaning of Life. My dad and my brother were fans of Monty Python when I was a kid and I well remember The Holy Grail playing a lot on the family TV, but I'm not sure if The Meaning of Life was ever in rotation. However, I'm definitely not a fan of Monty Python so I doubt it's my kind of movie.
I definitely haven't seen that version of Cinderella, but I can still say with absolutely certainty that I would not like it.
I am relieved though that the points threshold for making the countdown proper isn't super high. That gives me a lot of hope for a certain little movie that I campaigned for.

I haven't seen that version of Cinderella.
It didn't cross my mind to consider Meaning of Life. I haven't seen it in a long time and wasn't registered in my brain as a musical, but I guess it does have a fair number of musical numbers (I guess it's also hard to think of that classification on skit-based movies and some of the skits have musical numbers in them and some of them don't).
If it had crossed my mind, there's a good chance I would have included it on my ballot. It's probably the weakest Month Python film, but unless there's two or three more musical numbers in the others I'm not thinking of (besides Knights of the Round Table), it's probably the only one eligible for this countdown.
ETA: I couldn't manage a full ballot, so when I say, "I'd probably have considered it for my ballot," as long as my opinion was overall positive and would be something I'd be willing to rewatch, that probably means it would have made it.

Monty Python's Meaning of Life has three bonafide Musical moments among its episodic sketches ("Every Sperm is Sacred", "The Galaxy Song", and "It’s Christmas in Heaven"). I believe three songs was the minimum for inclusion on the list.

100. Cinderella (1965) - I've obviously heard of Cinderella before, but never knew about this mid-60s musical version of the story featuring Lesley Ann Warren, Ginger Rogers and Walter Pidgeon. I wonder if there'll be more Cinderellas show up here.
99. Monty Python's The Meaning of Life - One of the Python gang's lesser films, but still good enough for me to have seen it at least a dozen times. Basically a loose way to structure a series of sketches featuring subjects that range from birth to death. Please don't mention the vomiting sequence while I'm eating. I never really thought of this as a musical, but there are enough songs in it to well and truly push it over the line. You know, I never found this entry as funny as the other Python movies for some reason - but again, that's not to say that I didn't find it funny, or some segments hilarious. It's just, these guys set the bar so high! How do you follow up Holy Grain and Life of Brian? It's impossible.

I am sorely disappointed that Amadeus made it this low on the chart. I adore Amadeus. It is a perfectly melodramatic musical biopic with pure finesse. Never seen or even heard of that version of Cinderella… The Meaning of Life is one of the better Python films I’ve seen, but I’m not really that big of a fan despite loving British humor.
Tick, tick… BOOM! was on my list. I haven’t seen a huge amount of musicals, but this one really stood out to me as unique, inspiring and really well made.

I grew up on musicals, as my mom was a huge fan and was always watching them. Even though I grew up liking the genre, I confess it was almost never the musicals she likes. The Fred Astaire, Bing Crosby, and Gene Kelly movies are far too squeaky clean for my taste.
I also grew up on the Muppets, which also fed into my love of random music numbers.

98. tick, tick... BOOM! (2021) - This one has been on my radar big time, but I simply haven't gotten around to watching it yet. Sometimes you just have to make it happen because you never cross paths with a movie you fully intend to see when you get the chance.
97. Amadeus (1984) - One of the all time great films. I don't think I've ever heard it described as a musical before, although I can nearly see it as such if I narrow my eyes and stretch both the definition of "musical" and the different ways you can describe this movie. Amadeus is exceedingly good in every department, and a stunning cinematic achievement. I love it, and I've seen it many times.

#100 - Cinderella (1965)
I love this version of Cinderella, and I specifically asked about the eligibility of TV versions of musicals, and I was told that they were not eligible, so it was immediately removed from my potential list at the time, and I didn't vote for it. :(
I can't say with 100% certainty that it would have made my final list, but it had a very good chance if I knew it would have been allowed.
I'm glad to see that it made the list anyway, but I wish the eligibility rules had been clearer or enforced better.
#99 - The Meaning of Life (1983)
I've seen several Monty Python movies, but Monty Python just isn't my type of comedy.
#98 - tick...tick...BOOM! (2021)
I watched tick...tick...BOOM! for this countdown and I liked the movie a lot, but the music was just okay. If this was a countdown for favorite movies, it might have had a chance of making my list, but as a musical, I didn't consider it for my list.
#97 - Amadeus (1984)
I watched Amadeus a while back, but I didn't really like it much. I also didn't think it would have been eligible for this list because if I remember correctly, the music was instrumentals, not songs that were sung.

You asked about some specific movies, and I asked you whether they were proper movies that happened to be on TV or like filmed versions of live stage plays, which wouldn't be eligible.
I admit it could have been clearer in advance whether TV movies were eligible. I didn't really think it was going to be an issue until Cinderella turned up in the top 100. At that point, having not ruled specifically against TV movies, it would have been unfair to exclude it.

A note on tiebreakers... when films have the same number of points, the one that appears on the most lists is given the higher ranking. If this still doesn't break the tie, the one with the highest placement on an individual list gets the higher ranking.
In the case of the 4 films on 38 points, one was on 4 ballots, so that comes highest. The other two had a 1st place and a 4th place respectively, so they'll show up tomorrow, ahead of Walk the Line which shows today in 95th place as its highest placement was at #6 on a ballot.

Yep, I was the highest vote.
Once it was made clear that movies about musicians would be eligible, there was never even a shred of doubt that Walk the Line would be on my ballot and placed quite high. It features some really great (and award-winning) performances in which the cast did all of their own singing and I really love the soundtrack. I'm a little disappointed at its low placement, but I'm happy that it made the cut.
Here's what I wrote about it when I rewatched it for the countdown:
http://www.angelfire.com/music6/walteregan/MoFoTop100/walktheline.gif
Walk the Line
(James Mangold, 2005)
This is not a movie that I needed to watch for this countdown. As soon as I knew it was eligible, there was never any doubt that it would get my vote. But it's been a few years since I last watched it and I'd kind of forgotten just how jam packed full of music it is and just how much that I enjoy that music. Which isn't to say that I'm a Johnny Cash fan. I am not. I think I have an "essentials" CD plus Unchained - the album he did with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - but besides a handful of his hits, especially his cover of "Hurt," I never had much interest in his music. But I really enjoy the soundtrack to this film and am impressed with the vocal performances from its cast.
But besides just the music, the acting here is really strong. Joaquin Phoenix in particular brings a huge amount of intensity to his portrayal of Cash and I cannot take my eyes off him (of course the fact that he looks so damn good in it doesn't hurt). He is absolutely mesmerizing. But the other performances are also very strong with the obvious standout being Reese Witherspoon in her Oscar winning turn as June Carter Cash.
Speaking of awards, despite Phoenix's Golden Globe win for "Best Actor in a Musical Or Comedy" with this performance, obviously this isn't a musical with a capital M. But I do think it's very worthy of inclusion in the countdown and will rank quite high on my ballot.

#96 - The Smiling Lieutenant...When I looked through a huge list of IMDB movies marked musicals I seen that title and knew it would make the countdown because it was directed by Lubitsch.

Walk The Line (2005)
I knew this was a really good movie, and on a second watch I'm more convinced of that than ever!
Joaquin Phoenix gave a fine performance as a young Johnny Cash. Did he look just like him? No...and that doesn't matter. What does matter is he nailed the body language and vocal inflections of Johnny Cash. I believed he was the man in black! And Joaquin sang his own songs, impressive! He sounded good too and sounded like Cash.
Reese Witherspoon, I have no idea what June Carter Cash looks or sounds like and it doesn't matter to me if Reese doesn't look just like her. She captured this lively spirit and convinced me she was June. And she sang her own songs too! And could Reese be any more cuter than in the start of this movie! Especially in the 1954 scenes at the Grand Old Opry, wow...she was perkily, adorable!
https://www.movieforums.com/community/attachment.php?attachmentid=41834&stc=1&d=1518821014
What an amazing story and told so well that I held my breath for much of the movie...That means I was intently focused on the story and that doesn't happen with many movies. The sets and the way it was filmed told me this was a professionally made movie. I'm not a fan of country music and yet I still liked hearing the songs performed live...and that says a lot about the quality of the movie too.

I probably liked Walk the Line fine enough(a guess), but it quickly slipped from my memory.
I've not seen The Smiling Lieutenant.
I think I've seen bits of tick ... tick ... Boom! while my wife watched it, but not enough to fairly rate it. I'm not big on Larson in general, though. Amadeus is another one I haven't seen in a long, long time--I rate it highly and it was on my short list, but I ultimately decided between not having seen it in forever (I won't be consistent on this, fair warning) and it not being "musical" enough, I left it off my list. Genre borders are porous, however, so happy enough to see it here.
I haven't seen The Smiling Lieutenant. I didn't love Walk the Line. Biopics in general are a tough sell for me (though there are good ones!) and, to be honest, I'm always a little puzzled by biopics that don't show off the reason the movie exists in the first place--in this case, Johnny Cash's singing. I get that you like to have the actors do it all, and to be fair, Phoenix does as good a job as he can... but he's not Cash. No vote from me, but cheers to its supporters.

I recently upgraded to a better version for my movie collection, but still haven't watched it again because of a general aversion to musical biopics. By the way - are there actual songs sung in this movie, or are they just snippets of songs? You know, when you stretch the definition, just about any movie can be considered a musical. Amadeus was on my ballot at number seventeen, accounting for nine of its thirty-seven points. Miloš Forman assembles all the requisite aesthetic trappings of a grand historical costume biopic, but the universal pull of the story is a laughing imp who happens to be a genius resented by a seething mediocrity cursed with the knowledge of his own failings, anchored by F. Murray Abraham's magnificent performance. If you've somehow never watched Amadeus because you fear it is going to be a stuffy chore about an idealized historical figure you are missing out on a heck of a flick that is funny and caustic and wonderful.

Television movies have never, ever been eligible in any of the other previous (are we up to twenty-five of these) MoFo Lists.
You sure about that?
From the Westerns Countdown that you hosted:
TV mini-series, such as "Lonesome Dove" and "The Sacketts", are not eligible. Made-for-TV projects that are feature length are fair game. Shorts are eligible.
From the Animation Countdown that I hosted:
• One-off television specials and made for TV movies are eligible for voting. Examples of eligible TV specials and movies: How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Lorax (1972), It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

For what it's worth, I think Thursday Next is doing an excellent job and made the right decision to allow a broader definition of musicals. Had she been hard core and only allowed the narrowest definition of what is a musical...the number of ballots would've dropped considerable. A lot of MoFos don't care for musicals and might have boycotted the countdown or not been able to make a ballot had the rules been really tight. Each countdown is different and Thursday made the right choices to make this countdown happen.
And if a few movies make the countdown that some feel aren't musicals, well that happens with every countdown an adds to to the uniqueness, it's MoFo tradition:p

I agree Thursday Next is doing a good job, albeit she is worrying too much about it.
Just put your feet up and crack a couple of tinnies open Next Thursday.
Having said that I do also though think the films could be released a little big quicker! It's not an issue for me, but for real hard core musical fans I'd imagine it might be a little bit frustrating, but maybe this is how you always do it I don't know! And for all I know, maybe they enjoy the suspense and the longevity of the thread!!!

If I had thought TV versions of musicals were available I would have seriously considered the Bette Midler version of Gypsy for my list.
That's not something you say every day.

There's been talk of refreshes. I think it will definitely happen.

Since we've pretty well exhausted every possibility, yes, I expect we will probably get around to refreshing some of the older decade lists.

Definitely the 90’s are due. We can replace certain movies such as Con Air, Edward Scissorhands, Batman Returns, The Fifth Element and Starship Troopers with more deserving films in my opinion.

FWIW, I think Amadeus is a great film. Great.
Also FWIW, I like the pacing the way it is. I like to savor my countdowns.

I think we need longer countdowns. 2 films per week.

I'm the third who had Amadeus (1984) in the ballot. It is high there at #9.
Saw it in the theatre as a schoolboy when it was released and numerous more times through the years. This film is surely among the highest achievements in the cinema. How could it be skipped.
I've tried to have a full 25-item ballot with musicals in straightforward meaning but couldn't find enough that I like. So, per the initial intention for this countdown, I broaden it to 'musicals + films about music'. (actually, only three or four movies of mine are borderline, all of the others are truly musicals)

Yep, two films a day is how these countdowns are always done. Drops down to one a day for the top 10!
It'll all be over by Christmas...

I voted for these movies last time we did the countdown and they will make my ballot again.

Heh. I’m not surprised. Hoping some of those get squeezed out.

Heh. I’m not surprised. Hoping some of those get squeezed out.If we redo the 90s next, and I think we will, nothing technically would be squeezed out as the old 90s list will also remain on the List section. I know you weren't saying that but I wanted to clarify for the brand spankin' new MoFos.:p

On the Town (1949) Love this musical and I seriously considered it for my ballot. I've seen it a couple of times and plan on watching it again, heck maybe I'll catch it tonight! I'm a huge fan of all the major stars: Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra, Betty Garrett, Ann Miller. Especially fond of Betty Garrett because she was on Laverne & Shirley as the landlady. Ann Miller is always fun and a first rate dancer!

If Batman Returns or Starship Troopers don't make a 90's refresh list then there's something very wrong in the state of Mofo.
FWIW, I'd expect all of those to reappear because they all appeal to enough of a different kind of movie fan to be included on multiple lists and, in some cases, quite highly. Although I'd also expect that list to start at quite a high number of votes, too.
As for todays pick? Seen neither, desire to see neither.

YES! The Prince of Egypt was my number 6, which means I gave it 20 points, and am directly responsible for over half it's points! I have to confess something here, a while back I feigned ignorance of the film in the worry that someone from a old website I don't want to return to might recognize me... Sorry everyone. But TOoE is a lifelong nostalgia piece that I can never possibly get tired of. It is the perfect Biblical film, and ever song is a banger among bangers. I was four when this came out, and I saw it a million times since. So I am an old school Dreamworker (especially when the prequel and Galaxy Quest are involved.
Seen 2/6, but MUST see that other one for Kelly and Sinatra.
I had pretty similar reactions to both The Prince of Egypt and On the Town--both are charming and sweet but not strong enough to make my list. I watched On the Town long ago with my wife (then-girlfriend) and my main memory of it is that she teased me with the line "You're old, dear, old like gorgonzola" for years afterward (while I was not so old at the time, I'm several years older than her). Oh, and both of us tee-heeing (because we are similar in immaturity) at the plug at the end of the trailer: "Twice as Gay as Anchors Aweigh!"

I tried watching The Prince of Egypt at one point years ago, but I don't think I ever finished it. Have not seen the other.
Hmm, for some reason I didn't think of The Prince of Egypt. Probably because I made a conscious decision not to include too many animated films (although a handful still sneaked into my ballot, mostly because of how catchy the musical numbers are). Regardless of that, The Prince of Egypt is a gorgeously animated film. I revisited a couple of years ago and it held up extremely well. The songs probably didn't stuck with me as much as other films (although I find myself now humming "Playing with the Big Boys"), but I still think it's a great film and I'm glad it made it.
I still haven't seen On the Town, but I've had it on my radar for a while.
