And I am not creative enough to come up with anything in connection to anyone else. :nope:

I don't have a strong connection to this song at all. I first heard it while looking for songs two or three days ago. I found it on Youtube. I literally typed in "a little bit crazy" into the Youtube search engine because that's how the song relates to me -- I'm A LITTLE BIT CRAZY.

I found this video, I watched it... I figured I wouldn't end up nominating it, but I did. I really like the video. The whole atmosphere of it, the cowboy club. I think there's a part of me that can relate to it. I was certainly exposed to country music growing up, although I wasn't a fan. This seems like a fun song. I don't really relate to all of the lyrics, but I can see myself in that video. Can see myself in Eddy Raven. I think if I was gonna do country music, I'd want it to be Cajun style (hot and spicy). So there ya have it.

And of course I knew everybody would think it was GB's song, so it had that going for it. I tricked all of you. And also I didn't want her to be the only one nominating a country song.

I was going to joke that this was the song I lost my virginity to (it was playing in the room as it happened) and cause you all to freak out in disgust or confusion for awhile, but I'm not really feeling the joke anymore, so there's a joke that would have been.

Remember when I said in the last tournament that the gods of the song tournament weren't on my side? Well, they were out in full force earlier today with that up there. :rolleyes:

Not that I intended on it making it beyond the first round, but to be against Black Sabbath?!?! :shrug:

Anyway, why did I nominate it? Because I like it. I like Wham. I love George Michael. I was going to nominate a George Michael tune, but I decided on this Wham song instead because if I were to mix up both the songs of Wham and George Michael and choose just one as the best, it would be "Edge of Heaven".

When I was a kid this was my favorite of their songs. Don't believe me? I still have my VHS tape with all the videos that I recorded off of TV, and this was the only song of theirs that I made sure I got on there.

I have never grown tired of the song through the years. It is upbeat. It is loud. It is constant. That beat never dies. There is this sort of bounce to it that never seems to stop. I like the melody. And it is awfully hard for me to dislike a song that includes some sort of horn section in it. It just always makes a good song great for me.

And, depending on my mood, I have occasionally placed this song in my top 10. As of recently, it made its return to that part of a list of favorite songs.

I was just irritated because that was kind of brutal competition for it. I basically had a reaction like "Well, just forget it then" and I already started to think about what I might say about the song as soon as I saw that because I knew it wasn't going to slip into the second round by even one vote since they were against them.

Mel and Kim's Respectable was mine. I love that song, it reminds me of when we had a pub and my husband drove 300 miles to pick up an old juke box. He gave the mechanism a clean then we went out and bought all the 45's to fill it up - this was in the pre-internet days so we went to a real record shop. Every week me and one of the girls who worked for us used to go down and buy a few new records. We loved that juke box. I often think we should've brought it with us when we sold the pub tenancy, but it was just too big for our house.
Respectable was a favourite of my husband as well as one of their other hits 'Showing Out' . Sadly one of the girls. Mel, died of cancer aged only 23.

This song, "Numb", means a lot to me. No, I do not really have strong, very specific reasons for why I like it / why I nominated it. It's just another one of my Criterion Collection songs. It takes me back to 2004 -- that's one reason.

Linkin Park's a great band. The music video for this song is unfortunately kinda stupid -- I'm not into the whole thing with the girl who cuts herself and all that. I NEVER imagined that sh*t when I used to listen to this song. The lyrics don't mean a lot to me -- they never really do often with songs. What's important is how the song sounds musically. I'm almost like a classical music fan -- which is weird because I didn't even participate in the Instrumental Song Tournament. I don't NEED lyrics in order to love a song. They at least don't need to mean a lot to me. But I do like what the human voice can do. Songs for me get absorbed based on how they sound and what kind of emotions they cause me to have. What kind of things they make me think about -- which can be totally cut off from whatever the lyrics are talking about. Lyrics often don't mean sh*t to me. But probably on some level, the lyrics do mean something to me somehow. They're just not considered the most important aspect for me.
