You'd never find the Prince version on Youtube. Prince doesn't allow his songs on Youtube. This woman had to go to court to keep a Youtube video posted of her little kid dancing to a Prince song -- Prince made them remove the video from Youtube. I love Prince's music, but the guy is a massive creep.

ROUND 1, DAY 4

1. Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots - The Flaming Lips*vs. Sonique- It Feels So Good-I kind of don't believe Swan when he says he nominated the first song because of how much I liked it. I just don't have a better guess. I also liked the second song, and I'll say that's Tugg's.

2. Eagles - Hotel California vs. Dead Or Alive - You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)-Hotel California is probably more of a favorite, but it's been played to death. Raul for the first and Gunner for the second.

3. Estranged - Guns N' Roses*vs. The Jacksons - Torture-At this point, I have to guess that anything by the Jacksons is from SC. I believe that Marlon Brando nominated Estranged.

4. Darren Hayes - Black Out the Sun*vs. Lee Greenwood - It Turns Me Inside Out-This match almost killed me. I was smoking in the truck, but I had to roll the windows up just in case anybody saw me listening to this music. I'll say silent vamp for the first song, and GB for the second song.

5. Metallica – Enter Sandman*vs. Greyhound - The Ink is Black-Sandman is another brilliant but overplayed song. Foster for the first and HK for the second.

6. Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Otherside*vs. Everyday - Buddy Holly-Both are great, Derek and Christine.

7. Knights of Cydonia - Muse*vs. The Chemicals Between us - Bush-Never heard that first song before and I loved it. I'm hoping it's finally a Nostromo song that gets my vote. When I think of Bush, I think of Miss Vicky.

8. Ringo Starr-The No-No Song*vs. Van Halen - Ice Cream Man-I love both of these songs. The first is GB's as it reminds her of her wild youth, and Citizen Rules works as an Ice Cream Man to meet girls.

The Jacksons - Torture (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DxSfQeCoFUM)

I nominated stupid stuff this tournament because I don't really care to win this time. Although the song isn't stupid to me.

Torture to me is basically like a prequel to Michael Jackson's Thriller, but with all of the Jackson brothers. I wanted to nominate a scary song and I went through horror movie soundtracks to find something, and I didn't really want to nominate a second Jackson song... but Torture absolutely refused to be ignored by me.

I love it. I first heard it when I saw the music video on a VHS tape as a kid. It's like The Jacksons meet Hellraiser or something. A dark, dark pop song. And a little bit kinky with the whip and all that. I thought that maybe Nostromo87 might love it. Don't know if he does because he hasn't voted yet.

There's a lot of great songs on that Victory album by The Jacksons. Torture is one of them.

And yes, Michael Jackson has a wax dummy standing in for him in the music video. He couldn't be there to film it.

I don't watch The Middle. Also, I don't watch the videos to these songs. I only listen.

Not me. Surprisingly, my song made it through Day 1. I guess it helps when people don't know which song is mine. They voted your song out instead because they thought it was mine. :D
No, they get voted out because it's country. :p:D

Rap is a big part of mainstream culture these days and in the 90s.

That doesn't make it good. :nope:

1. Linkin Park - Numb vs. I Summon You - Spoon - There's not a great deal in this one for me. I never would've had SC for the first but I was going to guess Swan for the second.

2. The Alan Parsons Project - Eye in the Sky vs. Thoughtless - Evanescence - Another one which was fairly close. I thought Derek for the second, but I'm not convinced. Again I thought Swan for the first, but it might be raul.

3. Fine Young Cannibals - She Drives Me Crazy vs. Can I get a… - Jay Z - Foster has fessed up to Jay Z. I'd have gone with a newer player, but I don't know if I'd have gone for him or not. I'm pretty sure Christine likes FYC (maybe it's about her mother in law :D), but it's been nominated before, so maybe cricket?

4. Chicago-Make Me Smile vs. John Denver - Today - This wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be, but it's still an easy win. Even if Make Me Smile does go on too long. I'm going CR for the first and, slightly left field, MV for the second.

5. Judas Priest - You Got Another Thing Comin vs. Kung Fu Fighting - Carl Douglas - This is the match up of the round. Horrible that either have to go first round. I'll go GS for the first and SV for the second.

6. Demons and Wizards – The Gunslinger vs. Thin Lizzy - Whiskey in the Jar - Maybe GS put the first one forward, but it sounds more Swan to me. But he said he hadn't nominated anything like this. I don't know. I'm pretty sure Christine likes Thin Lizzy, but I don't think this is hers so, as it's not the Metallica version, I'm going with cricket

7. The Real Thing - Lisa Stansfield vs. The Cranberries- When You're Gone - Again I'm left with Tugg or Christine for the first as I simply don't know anyone else who'd know it. Stansfield is great, though. I've been meaning to bring her into one of these things for ages. I'm going raul for the second.

8. Linkin Park - In The End vs. The Human League - Don't You Want Me Baby - An easy one for me, though the LP isn't too terrible. Even though the previous one wasn't his, I'll go for Derek again because I'm nothing if not stubborn/stupid/relentless. ;) I don't think the second one is 80's enough for SC. Could be Christine (but I think I just know her a lot more than most of you so I make too many connections to her :D) so I'm going with a newer player. Hello, foster. :)

There's a lot of great songs on that Victory album by The Jacksons.
I think "Victory" is a better album than people allow it to be. I think it is one of those cases where people want to dislike it because it is "cool" to do so. The two songs that I like the best, I think, would be "Body" and "One More Chance".

1. Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots - The Flaming Lips vs. Sonique- It Feels So Good - I'm slightly surprised at voting this way. I'm still not sure if I should, but I am. Anyway, both of these have been claimed.

2. Eagles - Hotel California vs. Dead Or Alive - You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) - Stone cold classics of their respective genres. Frankly the first could be any of us but I'll go with CR. The second is much more like the 80's SC loves.

3. Estranged - Guns N' Roses vs. The Jacksons - Torture - The Torture song wasn't but even in my current mood I'm going with GNR. As Captain isn't here and it was nominated in the last tournament, I'll go with a newer participant. nostro is my pick. Unless SC has picked it for his Captain. :D

4. Darren Hayes - Black Out the Sun vs. Lee Greenwood - It Turns Me Inside Out - The first sounded a little like a Eurovision ballad, where it a little more electro. It has to be MV doesn't it? gbg for the second as she had a song with a similar sentiment in the last tournament.

5. Metallica – Enter Sandman vs. Greyhound - The Ink is Black - Played out? Not for me. Not yet, anyway. GS for the first and Christine for the second.

6. Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Otherside vs. Everyday - Buddy Holly - My dislike of pretty much anything and everything RHCP meant that this was always going to be a difficult tie for them with me. They lost. Easily. Sorry. Not sure who'd go with them, but I'm plumping for Derek. Everyday is another which pretty much any of us could've put up for one reason or another. Young whippersnappers and their rap music!
I didn't say it was bad, either.

Maybe I misunderstood the tournament.
Were we supposed to nominate songs on the basis of how good they are?
No, you're fine. :)

Bucks FIzz - Land Of Make Believe was mine. When I was about 9 or 10, I think, I had recorded the end of Convoy (which those of you who know me will probably know I love) on tape. Not videotape, though I did have that, but cassette tape. I had a tape recorder by my bed and every morning for, well, ages, my mum would come in my bedroom, wake me up and play that tape to keep me awake. After Convoy finished, it went back to what had originally been recorded and Land Of Make Believe was the first song after it. So for weeks if not months, I'd wake up to that song every week day.

That's all it is, but anytime I hear that song that's where my mind goes.

It is quite obvious to me that I will now have 4 out of my 8 songs out of this thing by this evening. So, rather than reveal them now, I am just going to wait through the rest of the round to see what happens with the others. Basically, I am waiting to see if the 7 end up losers in the first round (I revealed the first song yesterday in case anyone hadn't seen it). And then I can just write out one long post again. :D

Make Me Smile by Chicago was my nomination. It's a song sung with an enormous amount of passion and soul, and that's what I feel whenever I listen to it. The first two lines remind me of when I was still living with my parents, and I would be locked in my bedroom early in the day, drinking by myself, while all the kids were playing outside in the parking lot. I was still doing this when I met my wife, and this song makes me think of being in a low place, and then being able to overcome, thanks to a woman. As an added bonus, I'm originally from Chicago.

Children play in the park, they don't know
I'm alone in the dark, even though
Time and time again I see your face smiling inside
I'm so happy
That you love me
Life is lovely
When you're near me
Tell me you will stay
Make me smile
Living life is just a game so they say
All the games we used to play fade away
We may now enjoy the dreams we shared so long ago
Oh my darling, got to have you. Feel the magic when I hold you
Cry sweet tears of joy, touch the sky
Now I need you more than ever. No more crying - we're together
Tell me you will stay. Make me smile

2. Neil Young-Like a Hurricane vs. Pardon Me - Incubus-I'll say Hubby for the first about GB, and try Gunner for the second.

3. Rodney Atkins - If You're Going Through Hell vs. You Don't Know Me - Ray Charles-The obvious guess for the first is GB, and I liked it a bit. I liked the second a little more, and I'll say that's Christine's.

4. Madonna - Material Girl vs. Labi Siffre - Something Inside So Strong-Foster for the first and Vamp for the second.

5. Creedence Clearwater Revival – Run Through the Jungle vs. Roseanne Barr - The Star Spangled Banner-One of the great CCR songs, and I'll say it's a Miss Vicky nomination. The second I'll say Nostro lol.

6. Phil Collins - In the Air Tonight vs. The Verve- The Drugs Don't Work-The first is an awesome song, but I like voting for great new discoveries. Marlon Brando nominated the first, and I'll say Swan for the second.

7. James Blake - The Wilhelm Scream vs. Walk This Way - Run DMC-That's the first time I've heard the first song, and despite not voting for it in this match, I liked it. That seems to be a constant for me with Tugg's noms, so he's my guess. I'll try Raul for Run DMC.

So Darren Hayes - Black Out the Sun was my nomination, which will come as no surprise to some of you.

Hayes was the singer for the 90s pop duo Savage Garden (best known for their smash hit "Truly Madly Deeply"). I've been an admirer of his music since I was a teenager, but recently have become rather obsessed with both his music and his comedy (he does a weekly podcast called The He Said, He Said Show). There's nothing particularly personal about this song for me, it's just one of my favorites from him. I had a feeling he'd go out in the first round, but I'm pleased that it was such a close race.

Roseanne Barr - The Star Spangled Banner (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SkhbpeL-8sY)

I highly doubt Roseanne Barr singing "The Star Spangled Banner" in a godawful manner is gonna beat Creedence Clearwater Revival, so I'm gonna admit that it's mine already.

You know how a couple of people nominated anthems and marches in the last tournament? Well, this is my parody of that. This is an American anthem!

Roseanne, Roseanne, Roseanne. Personally, I don't see what the problem was with Roseanne singing the anthem so terribly. IT'S ROSEANNE. She was just being herself. A controversial, comedic figure, just like myself. Roseanne is always entertaining, even at her worst. I'd have been in her shoes if I could have, boldly and proudly singing the anthem in front of millions. Like Madonna, she is brave and out to do what she wants. This nomination was silly and ridiculous and frankly, I'm upset that nobody here has really said anything about it so far. Oh, well.

I would never nominate Roseanne Barr's version of our National Anthem. It's one of the worst versions ever.

If I were going to nominate our National Anthem, it would have been Smokey Robinson's version. It's the best version that I've ever heard.

But there are much better baseball songs to nominate than that song.

ROUND 1, DAY 5

Spandau Ballet - Gold

Just a guess here, maybe Raul's nom?

Devo - Through Being Cool

I don't remember Devo ever being nominated in a song tournament before so maybe this is one of the newcomers. I'll guess Marlon Brando.

Neil Young-Like a Hurricane

I'm not really sure about this song. Maybe Miss Vicky?

You Don't Know Me - Ray Charles

This is probably either Christine or SilentVamp's nomination.

Madonna - Material Girl

SIlentVamp said this round had a song that she connects to lyrically, so I'm guessing this might be it.

Creedence Clearwater Revival – Run Through the Jungle

Classic rock. Maybe Cricket's nom?

Roseanne Barr - The Star Spangled Banner

Sexy Celebrity has already outed this as his nom, but I would have guessed him for this anyway.

Phil Collins - In the Air Tonight

I gonna take a shot in the dark and guess that Nostromo nominated this song. I don't know why.

The Verve- The Drugs Don't Work

This song is a bit different than the usual stuff. Maybe Tugg's nomination?

James Blake - The Wilhelm Scream

This sounds like something Swan might nominate.

Walk This Way - Run DMC

We recently learned that Foster likes rap music, so this could be one of Foster's nominations.

Foreigner - Rev on the Redline

I think Cricket has nominated Foreigner songs before, so this could be one of Cricket's nominations.

Green Day - Boulevard Of Broken Dreams

Maybe this is Derek's nom? It sounds like his type of music.

Thomas Dolby - She Blinded Me With Science

This sounds like something Sexy Celebrity would nominate.

Under the Bridge - Red Hot Chilli Peppers

This is probably Derek's type of song. Maybe it's his nomination.

Sister Christian - Night Ranger

This is probably Cricket's type of song.

Earth Wind and Fire - September

This sounds like something Honeykid would nominate.

The Bangles - In Your Room

I'll guess Citizen Rules because I think he likes The Bangles.

The Beatles - Twist and Shout

SilentVamp and Christine seem to be big fans of The Beatles fans, so I'll guess that one of them nominated this song.

UB40 - (I Can't Help) Falling in Love With You

I usually love this song, but this is my least favorite version of this song. Miss Vicky and I seem to have completely opposite tastes in music, so maybe this is her nomination.

Elevator Beat - Nancy Wilson

Swan seems to appreciate a good instrumental, so maybe this is his nomination.

Three Days Grace - The Good Life

This sounds like Derek's type of song. Maybe it's his nomination.

Rich Girl - Hall & Oates

This sounds like something that Sexy Celebrity might nominate, but the lyrics make me think it might have been nominated by a woman, so I'll guess SilentVamp.

James Gang-Walk Away

This sounds like something Cricket might nominate.

UB40 - (I Can't Help) Falling in Love With You (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ajp0Uaw4rqo)

That's my song. People are thinking it's Miss Vicky and SilentVamp's, but it's mine. A woman did not nominate it (unless you consider me a woman).

I considered nominating the Elvis Presley version, which I do like, but I much prefer the UB40 version, and it's the version that means something to me.

What can I say about this song? I'll just say I really like it. When you fall in love with someone, you can't help it.

I'll have to listen to day 5 and 6 when I get back from work. As it's only actually day 3 we are on Sexytime again so I hope you'll wait for me. :)

In the meantime Greyhound's Black and White was mine. Back in the dark ages when I was a kid, my dad used to give us kids money to buy records and the three of us would go to W.H.Smiths (amazing to think now that back then it had a huge record dept) and buy a single. I remember this time I got a Diana Ross record, but my brother got Black and White on the brilliant Trojan reggae label. We all loved that record, the reggae music and the sentiment of the words.

Round 1 Day 7

1. Paul Overstreet - Seein' My Father in Me vs. Dragonball Z theme song - Though the first could be any of us, I think it's someone who's put a few years on the clock and gone round the block more than once or twice. For some reason I also think it's a woman so that, with the style of music all points to gbg to me. Watch it be Derek now. :D The second seems to be at the other end of the spectrum and screams "this was my childhood" to me, so I'm going with foster mainly because the three people who immediately spring to mind aren't playing. :D

2. Jigsaw Falling into Place - Radiohead vs. Michael Jackson & Paul McCartney - Say Say Say - Hate Radiohead, though this is pretty good for them and it's actually OK. Still not Say, Say, Say though. Normally I'd go Swan but I think he's elsewhere in this, so I'll pick Marlon. I'm picking Tugg for the second. It could be SC putting up another Jacko duet, but I think Tugg was a fan, too.

3. George Harrison - Got My Mind Set On You vs. Secret Agent Man - Johnny Rivers - I just don't know with the first. I don't think anyone would surprise me here but for some reason I think it's either SC or Christine. Maybe CR for the second?

4. Live And Let Die - Guns N' Roses vs. Lady in Red - Chris DeBurgh - Hate Chris DeBurgh. Hate Lady In Red. Love GNR. Love Live And Let Die. Yep... Pretty easy this tie. cricket for the first. I think gbg likes Chris, but I've already gone for her, so I'm going SV for this one.

5. The Cranberries - Dreams vs. Al Stewart - The Year of the Cat - I really like that Cranberries song. I'm sure someone here is a bit of a Cranberries fan, but I can't remember who. I'll go raul for the first and MV for the second.

6. Linkin Park - Crawling vs. Frosti - Bjork - Maybe it's just because Christmas is coming, but I'm going for the plinky-plonky one. I'm just going for the obvious here. Derek for the first and Swan for the second.

7. Brad Fiedel - Dream Window vs. How Deep Is Your Love - Bee Gees - Dammit. I thought nostro for an earlier one but surely it's the first one here? It really should be me for the second, but it isn't.... Or is it? ;) Just in case it isn't, I'll go for SC as he's been picking some un-SC like tracks.

8. Another Saturday Night - Sam Cooke vs. Adam And The Ants - Prince Charming - I've not found an GS song yet and while it doesn't sound like his stuff he's just started seeing someone and moved fairly recently, so maybe this is to do with that? I'm going MV for the second.

BTW, anyone else here keep reading Brad Fiedel as Brad Friedel? or was that just me?

Brad Fiedel - Dream Window (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib0VxyFoRWQ)

This is a sexy and seductive piece used in the Fright Night movies, usually when the vampire is trying to cast a hypnotic spell on someone, like William Ragsdale - who also happened to be the star of Mannequin 2: On the Move.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OhLLRS67D0

Here it is used when Regine and Charley Brewster (William Ragsdale) dance together at a party in 1988's Fright Night Part II, which is yet another Part 2 that I prefer over the original. It obeyed my biggest rule for a Part 2 -- the villain has to be female. Here it is Regine, a female vampire out to avenge her vampire brother's death (the lead vampire of the first film) by seducing his murderer, Charley Brewster, away from the people he cares for and turning him into a vampire. There's gotta be a replacement, right?

As I said earlier, I'm quite the fan of instrumentals, and I particularly love horror movie soundtrack scores. I figured people would think this was Nostromo87's, but I also thought maybe people would suspect the SilentVamp.

I have one more song left to reveal. Later.

Round 1 Day 8

1. The Animals - We Gotta Get Out of This Place vs. Hurt - Johnny Cash - I think the first is SC and his desire to be able to leave MoFo. The second could be a good few of us, I'll go with SV.

2. Back to the Wall - Divinyls vs. Metallica - Breadfan - Is this the Metallica dumping ground? When I turned off the video for the first I saw it was from NOES 4. I know SC really likes that one, but I'm keeping with the nostro does horror soundtracks theme.

3. The Cranberries- Linger vs. Live - Lightning Crashes - I might as well keep going with raul for The Cranberries. MV for the second

4. Bucks Fizz - Making Your Mind Up vs. Gary Morris - Wind Beneath My Wings - I think the second is gbg but, whoever it is, I'm sorry but that's an awful version of a great song. Another Bucks Fizz fan in the game? I'm going with Tugg.

5. Three Days Grace - Home vs. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication - Frankly about half of these could be Derek's, but I'm picking the first one here. Apart from the State dwellers, I've no idea about the second. Obviously I'm not voting for it. Sorry.... Marlon?

6. Metallica – Fade to Black vs. I Might Be Wrong - Radiohead - More Metallica? I'm not their biggest fan as it is. I'll go GS for the first and foster for the second.

7. Styx-Blue Collar Man vs. Metallica - One - I'm getting bored with Metallica, but this is still one of their best. Raul for the first, cricket for the second

8. Sooner or Later - The Grass Roots vs. Timestretch - Bassnectar - Christine for the first and Swan for the second.

For this tournament I mostly chose songs that best represent my musical taste.
My picks:
This song is a bit different than the usual stuff. Maybe Tugg's nomination?
The Verve "The Drugs Don't Work" is the best pop song of 1997 in my opinion.
I know Tugg loves The Prodigy
The Prodigy ft. Crispian Mills "Narayan" was my favorite song from 1997 album "The Fat of the Land"- one of the best albums ever. I became a fan of The Prodigy.

James Blake was mine. It's the one song I nominated that I relate to lyrically.

I used to have huge dreams. I wanted to be an amazing filmmaker, I wanted to change the world with my cinema. When high school ended, reality struck though, and the last year especially has proven tough on me dream-wise. I went through a heavily nihilistic, depressive period mid-2015. Honeykid might remember me PMing him during it. During that time I lost sight of my dreams and started to feel hopeless. I felt like, in the words of Blake, I was "falling." I was falling towards death.

I don't want to make this depressing though, because since then, things have looked up. I'm motivated more now than ever. I see that period as the death of my dreams and the birth of my goals. I realized sitting around all day being on the computer, doing nothing, was no good. A lot of you guys helped me through that time. I remember having a deep conversation with Captain Spaulding and he opened my eyes to a lot of what was really going on. I'm still here, I'm not going anywhere, but my priority now is real life. I want to be a filmmaker, or do something with my life in general? Well, it's my own fault if my life isn't going that way, it's my own fault if I'm not conquering my time on this planet.

Don't forget there's still a COUPON out there......

http://www.movieforums.com/community/attachment.php?attachmentid=23178&stc=1&d=1449009073

It hasn't been used yet (I'm also reminding the coupon holder in case they forgot).

If it's used, the holder of the coupon's losing song BECOMES A WINNING SONG in whatever round it's in. Even if it's the final round -- the song can be used on a runner up to turn it into the winner.

And then the song that actually won LOSES.

Harsh, but it's a little twist I came up with before this tournament began. You had to win it. The coupon, that is. There was a little trivia game.

Nirvana's Heart Shaped Box was mine. I'm actually quite surprised this didn't move on, but oh well. There once was a time when I was completely, utterly obsessed with Nirvana and this was the song that really started me on that path. Later, I would end up burning out on their music and then go through phase of absolutely hating them, but recently I've been able to appreciate their sound once again.

Walk Away from The James Gang fronted by Joe Walsh was my second nomination to kick the bucket. Like most of my nominations in this tournament, I wouldn't especially consider it to be a personal song, but it is a song that I absolutely love. I do feel like I relate to it a little bit. It reminds me of the first few years of my relationship with my wife, before and after we got married. We would very often get into insane, alcohol fueled fights. We'd get tossed out of bars, restaurants, movie theaters, or wherever, and these fights would often result in police involvement. It was crazy times.

Takin' my time
Choosin' my lines
Try'n' to decide what to do
Looks like my stop
Don't wanna get off
Got myself hung up on you

Seems to me
You don't wanna talk about it
Seems to me
You just turn your pretty head and walk away

Places I've known
Things that I'm growin'
Don't taste the same without you
I got my self in
The worst mess I've been
And I find myself starvin' without you

Seems to me
Talk all night here comes the mornin'
Seems to me
You just forget what we said and greet the day

I've got to cool myself down
Stompin' around
Thinkin' some words I can't name ya
Meet you half way
Got nothing to say
Still I don't s'ppose I can blame ya

Seems to me
You don't wanna talk about it
Seems to me
You just turn your pretty head and walk away

I believe that GB was the only one to guess it was my nomination. It should have been obvious to anyone paying attention when I gave it a fake guess of Captain Spaulding, who I think is someone who would love the song as much as me.

Frosti and I Might Be Wrong are probably the most important songs I nominated.

I consider I Might Be Wrong the postersong of my mental breakdown in 2012. I was listening to it nonstop on my birthday that year. What else did I do on my birthday? I drove around. I was paranoid. I was going insane. And I bought a Bjork and Aphex Twin album.

I think it's the sense of desperation - of 'falling' in life - that both these songs give off. But honestly, I was just listening to a lot of Bjork and Radiohead during my breakdown. They were comfort food for me. So whenever I listen to that stuff, I'm reminded of my fall into insanity. My loneliness at the time. Driving around all day, secluded from people, my mind a chaotic bag of nonsensical ramblings. I've never been the same since my breakdown, and the soundtrack to that transitional period was Bjork, Radiohead and Aphex Twin.

ROUND 1, DAY 8

1. The Animals - We Gotta Get Out of This Place vs. Hurt - Johnny Cash-Anything Cash is quality but I love that Animals song. I'm trying CR for the first, and since she's a huge Cash fan, Christine for that one.

2. Back to the Wall - Divinyls vs. Metallica - Breadfan-Despite my love for Metallica, I've never heard that song before. I don't listen to new music anymore, and I usually don't connect with a song the first time I hear it. After working 15 hours, the other one was more pleasant to listen to. I hate to guess Gunner for Breadfan, because I've always liked his taste, and it seems I keep guessing him for songs I'm voting against. I just don't have a better guess. I have to say SC for the first, although it could be Nostro.

3. The Cranberries- Linger vs. Live - Lightning Crashes-This is a great match, but I do have a preference. Marlon Brando and Miss Vicky?

4. Bucks Fizz - Making Your Mind Up vs. Gary Morris - Wind Beneath My Wings-First time hearing both and the first is certainly more my taste.-HK fooled me before with Bucks Fuzz, but not this time. I have to go Vamp for the ballad.

5. Three Days Grace - Home vs. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication-I do like the Peppers, and I think that's one of their best. I thought the first song was average. Raul for the first and Foster for the second?

6. Metallica – Fade to Black vs. I Might Be Wrong - Radiohead-I quite liked that Radiohead song, but that's one of my favorites from Metallica. I could have easily nominated Fade to Black as I once very much identified with the lyrics. I'll take a shot with Swan for the first and Nostro for the second.

7. Styx-Blue Collar Man vs. Metallica - One-Both are great, but I like One a lot more when I hear it less. Raul for the first, and since he voted for it so enthusiastically, Derek for the second.

8. Sooner or Later - The Grass Roots vs. Timestretch - Bassnectar-A solid classic will win over an instrumental almost every time for me, but I actually enjoyed Bassnectar. GB for the first and Tugg for the second?

Metallica - Breadfan (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=N8xWXVmzlzw)

Gotcha!

One of the three Metallica songs.

When I was young, I never really listened to "guy" music. Guns N Roses, Metallica... all that stuff typical young guys, especially teenage boys, listen to. Part of that reason was because I really didn't hang with the guys. Well, there were some periods where I did, but I still didn't really listen to their music. In middle school, I was bullied A LOT. As I told Gatsby in the last tournament. Middle school was absolute hell for me. I didn't really have friends. I was the subject of a lot of verbal and physical abuse. I got into fights -- one I actually started myself (can you believe that?) I had had enough.

Anyway, enough about that. The point is, during my first year of high school, I actually found myself with a group of guy friends I sat with everyday at lunch (after years of torturous lonely lunch days in middle school). One of them used to sit and play the new Metallica album, Garage Inc., which is a bunch of old cover songs Metallica did in the '80s or something. I think it's considered one of their least popular albums. HOWEVER, I grew fond of hearing one of the songs from this album, "Breadfan." So much that I actually went out and PURCHASED THE ALBUM. Yes. It was really the first macho, "guy" CD I had ever owned. Well... I might have to take that back. A little. There was some other stuff, but to me, at the time, a Metallica album in my collection was the baddest I had ever been. However, the only song I would ever really play from it was "Breadfan." I sometimes have a nasty habit of getting a CD and ONLY playing the one song I bought it for, skipping all of the rest.

So anyway... I hate to spoil the other Metallica nominations in the tournament... but they were nominated by some dudes. And when I saw that, I decided to join the dudes again and nominate what is probably my own favorite Metallica song.

There ya have it. That's all of my songs.

LOSERS

Rodney Atkins - If You're Going Through Hell (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=l50L4GYhpLc)

After four of my songs making it through to Round 2, I lost a song in DAY 5. The Rodney Atkins song "If You're Going Through Hell" was my nomination. (But don't feel bad for me if you didn't vote for it. It was up against such a great song that I didn't vote for it either. :) )

This song is country, but it isn't really my type of country. I nominated it because the lyrics have a message that just felt right around this time. It's about moving forward, even when things are going bad. With the last few weeks I've had, this song just sounded like it was speaking to me.

"If You're Going Through Hell"

Well you know those times when you feel like
There's a sign there on your back
That says I don't mind if you kick me, seems like everybody has
Things go from bad to worse
You think it can't get worse than that
And then they do

You step off the straight and narrow
And you don't know where you are
Used the needle of your compass, to sew up your broken heart
Ask directions from a genie in a bottle of jim beam
And she lies to you
That's when you learn the truth

[Chorus]

If you're goin' through hell keep on going
Don't slow down if you're scared don't show it
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there

I've been deep down in that darkness
I've been down to my last match
Felt a hundred different demons breathin' fire down my back
And I knew that if I stumbled I'd fall right into the trap
That they were layin'

But the good news is there's angels everywhere out on the street
Holdin' out a hand to pull you back up on your feet
The one's that you've been draggin' for so long
You're on your knees might as well be prayin'
Guess what I'm sayin'

[Chorus]

If you're goin' through hell keep on going
Don't slow down if you're scared don't show it
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there
When you're goin' through hell keep on movin'
Face that fire walk right through it
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there

If you're goin' through hell keep on going
Don't slow down if you're scared don't show it
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there
When you're goin' through hell keep on movin'
Face that fire walk right through it
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there

Yes, I'm Jewish, but I'm not very religious. I celebrate the major Jewish holidays, but not the minor ones. I don't go to the synagogue (temple), but I fast on Yom Kippur, I light the menorah on Chanukah, etc. My beliefs don't always agree with everything in the Jewish religion, but I have to satisfy myself before I worry about satisfying my religion.

But to answer your question, there are angels in the Torah, so yes, Jews do believe in angels.

Dragonball Z theme song

This was probably nominated by a video gamer. Maybe Raul likes to play video games in his spare time.

Michael Jackson & Paul McCartney - Say Say Say

I would have guessed Sexy Celebrity for this song, but he already outed all of his noms, so maybe SilentVamp nominated this song. She's a fan of both The Beatles and Michael Jackson.

George Harrison - Got My Mind Set On You

This was probably nominated by a Beatles fan, maybe SilentVamp or Christine.

Live And Let Die - Guns N' Roses

There are a few people here who have nominated Guns N' Roses before, so this is a tough one. I'll guess Gunslinger for this song.

Lady in Red - Chris DeBurgh

This could have been nominated by a man singing about a beautiful woman, or a woman who loves wearing red. Either way, it's someone who's a romantic. Maybe Tugg has a romantic side?

The Cranberries - Dreams

As I said previously, I think Cricket nominated The Cranberries in a previous song tournament, so this could be Cricket's nomination.

Al Stewart - The Year of the Cat

Hmm. The word "cat" in the title makes me think this song could be either Cricket's or Miss Vicky's nomination.

Linkin Park - Crawling

This is probably Derek's nomination.

Frosti - Bjork

This sounds like Swan's type of music, so it's probably his nomination.

Brad Fiedel - Dream Window

I think Sexy Celebrity already outed himself for nominating this song.

How Deep Is Your Love - Bee Gees

I think 70's music is usually Honeykid, so I'll guess HK nominated this song.

Another Saturday Night - Sam Cooke

This sounds like something either Christine or SilentVamp would nominate.

I am going to apologize, but I am not going to give you a reason for why I nominated my songs that lost (except they all shared the same thing - I happened to really like them).

First, what I nominated:

Love Festival - Kool & The Gang
The Real Thing - Lisa Stansfield
Everyday - Buddy Holly

Second, I had a very long post written out (I said that I would). The majority of that length involved Buddy Holly. It takes me forever to write something out (and that is why I don't ever really want to have a review thread). I swear it took me well over an hour (even close to 90 minutes) to get this post written out and to have it written properly and exactly how I wanted it. And I swear to God that I was just previewing it right before I was going to post it (I wanted to make sure about a couple of things that I wanted to include) and then the computer restarted. So I lost everything that I was writing. It is gone. And truth be told, I just don't have the heart to write any of it - even a tiny bit of it - out again. I just can't.

For those of you who read my long post in the last tournament, you know what I said (if you remember, by chance) in regards to the Jim Croce song. Well, not only can I cut off people that fast, I can do the same with a "project", too. And I am including posts on the internet. I just can't do it now. I just don't care to.

You have no idea how I wish I had Windows 8 back. I was a fool to upgrade. And, no, I can't seem to turn off the automatic updates. When I do, they never ask me to schedule an update (when I had that virus, the computer place had to get it all done and set up this way again). So nothing was getting updated. I have to keep it this way.

Basically, I suppose that if I ever have anything lengthy to write on here again I will have to write it in Word first.

Anyway, most of it just involved my Buddy Holly obsession, anyway. Nothing too interesting.

If you want me to be really honest with you, I am very close to crying over this. I have just had this happen one too many times now. And I actually had an upsetting and stressful week. And there are things happening next week that I am a little worried about. So, you know how when you're having a bad time there is that one thing that seems to upset you? And that one thing is something that seems so insignificant but it still gets to you? Well, this "essay" being deleted that I was going to post is the thing that is doing it for me.

So, again, apologies, but I just don't have the desire to write it all out again. Sorry.

I'm a member of one forum that saves your partially written out posts. If I type something and then close the tab, next time I go back there it still has everything I've written.

Never seen that on any other forum.

I'm sorry that you've been having such problems with Windows 10. I've heard that a lot of people have been having similar problems, but I'm sure that that's not much consolation for you. You might want to Google about the Windows updates restarting your system to find out if there's any way to stop it. You might also want to try asking someplace like Best Buy's Geek Squad. Maybe they'll have some helpful answers for you.

I learned a long time ago that I never want to be among the early people to upgrade to any new Microsoft product. They always have bugs, but they call them UAFs. (Un-Advertised Features).

When Micorsoft released Windows 95, they used the Rolling Stones song "Start Me Up" as the theme song, but many people in the computer industry joked that they used the wrong Rolling Stones song. They should have used "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction".

ROUND 1, DAY 8

The Animals - We Gotta Get Out of This Place

This sounds like it could be Cricket's nomination.

Hurt - Johnny Cash

Christine seems to have a soft spot for Johnny Cash, so I'll guess that this could be her nomination.

Back to the Wall - Divinyls

The video shows that this song is from a horror movie, so it could have been nominated by Nostromo, but I think it might be more Citizen Rules' type of music.

Metallica - Breadfan

I think Sexy Celebrity already outed this as his nomination.

The Cranberries- Linger

I've been guessing Cricket for the previous songs by The Cranberries, so I don't see any reason to change my guess for this song.

Bucks Fizz - Making Your Mind Up

I think Honeykid already revealed having nominated the other song by Bucks Fizz, so maybe this song is also Honeykid's nomination.

Three Days Grace - Home

Either this or the Red Hot Chili Peppers song must be Derek's nomination.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication

Either this or the Three Days Grace song must be Derek's nomination. (This match must be killing him to have to vote against one of these two songs.)

Metallica – Fade to Black

This is probably Gunslinger's nomination.

Styx-Blue Collar Man

This sounds like it could be Cricket's nomination.

Metallica - One

This could be Gunslinger's nomination, or maybe one of the newcomers likes metal music. Maybe Marlon Brando?

Sooner or Later - The Grass Roots

This sounds like Honeykid's type of nomination.

Timestretch - Bassnectar

This sounds like something that Swan might nominate.

This makes perfect sense. I'd have to be insane to buy an Aphex Twin album, too.:p

Adam And The Ants, Prince Charming was mine. It was the first 'proper' album that I ever owned. Adam And The Ants was the first band I really got into and, for what I think was my 9th birthday I got the Prince Charming album from my mum. Stand And Deliver was (and probably still is) my favourite Ants song but as this was the title track it was the one I chose to represent it. I don't know if I bought another album until Thriller, which I didn't get until it'd been out for a year or so.

I don't usually watch the videos for these, even with my own songs, but I did for this because I love it and it has Diana Dors in it. BTW, SC did the link I sent you not work in the US? The one you used was different to the one I sent you.

For this tournament I mostly chose songs that best represent my musical taste:
-The Cranberries "Linger" is perfect pop song and the best pop song of 1993 in my opinion.
-The Cranberries "Dreams" is the best pop song of 1994 in my opinion.
-The Cranberries "When You're Gone" is the best pop song of 1996 in my opinion.
-The Verve "The Drugs Don't Work" is the best pop song of 1997 in my opinion.
-The Prodigy ft. Crispian Mills "Narayan" was my favorite song from 1997 album "The Fat of the Land"- one of the best albums ever. I became a fan of The Prodigy.
-Sonique "It Feels So Good" was the most popular song during my last year in school played in all discos and parties in 2000- 2001.
-Mark Ronson ft. Amy Winehouse "Valerie" is the best pop song of 2007 in my opinion.
-Elbow "One Day Like This" lyrics "drinking in the morning sun" remind me about having the first drink in the morning, which is also the best drink of a day. It is optimistic song: "one day like this a year would see me right". It makes you feel good about the day that lies ahead.
