100. The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson
http://i58.tinypic.com/jhec6v.jpg
Theme song (http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=44yjk6J4bww)
Quote: What we DO have is nothin' but time. Welcome to the "Shawshank Redemption" of late night!
Scottish American Craig Ferguson is the third host of the Late Late Show. His sidekicks include a robot skeleton and a horse. (A costume containing two men.)
Quirky and zany are two common words used to describe Ferguson's humor. Viewers turning in could except to find singing puppets, a foul-mouthed rabbit and numerous cat jokes.
This year Ferguson announced he will be leaving the show.
Memorable funny moment: A remark from Geoff causes Ferguson to lose it.
Watching him try and fail to regain his composure made for a, albeit unintentional, hilarious moment.
Memorable episode Ferguson let his serious side show when he interviewed Desmond Tutu gaining the show a Peabody Award.
44 Points placed 17th, 8th and 9th
99. The Larry Sanders Show
http://i57.tinypic.com/345n976.jpg
Theme Song (http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Pc6jqO_o7Yk)
Quote:Larry: Sonny Bono did not get elected to a Senate seat here in California. That's when you know you live in California, when you look on the ballot and Sonny Bono is running for a senate seat. I was really towards running for the Captain of Captain & Tennille, because evidently, he at least has some military experience.
Fictional behind-the-scenes look at a talk show host interacting with guests and producers.
The Larry Sanders Show ran on HBO accumulating a slew of nominations and awards.
Legacy It has proven to have had a huge influence that can be seen in shows such as The Office, 30 Rock and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Memorable episode "The Party" What was supposed to be a simple dinner get together becomes an unwanted party when office politics become involved.
44 Points placed 7th, 8th and 19th

I don't think I've ever actually seen any of The Larry Sanders Show.
I've seen a few episodes of Craig Ferguson. I'm not much of a fan of talk shows so I only watch when there's a guest I'm interested in.

Max Headroom 1987
This was mine. At last one of my one pointers shows up again. Made it a one pointer specifically so I could recognize it.
http://www.movieforums.com/community/attachment.php?attachmentid=17982&stc=1&d=1412904565
Max Headroom was a great TV show that aired between 1987-1988. It had two seasons, though there was only 14 episodes total for the whole series. It starred that '80s icon, Max Headroom, but it wasn't just about him -- it was about a futuristic television network in a cyberpunk sci-fi world where it was illegal to turn off your TV. Max Headroom was created by the network and used as a figurehead for it on their channel.
The whole series is available on DVD. (http://www.amazon.com/Max-Headroom-The-Complete-Series/dp/B00005JNU5)
Doctor Who 1963????????
I thought everyone in the world except me was obsessed with this show? How did this only get 1 point?! Is it considered a different version?
Wow we've only just started and already there's one I'm kicking myself for not including. Over the last few years I have become obsessed with Craig Ferguson. Thanks to youtube I've not missed an episode in the last 3 or so years. Such a terrifically funny show even if it is rather offbeat (he's got a robot skeleton and a panto horse as a sidekicks!). And he has got to be my favourite interviewer. His interviews are just so different but so damn entertaining, particularly with the female guests which frequently become very flirty. I especially love when he interviews some of his regulars (Kirsten Bell, Kat Dennings, Sarah Chalke, Daniella Ruah, Lauren Graham etc.)
And as G-Dog pointed out he can also do very serious, grown-up interviews. Stephen Fry in particular produced some great episodes. In fact there was a great episode where the two just talked for the whole show without an audience. Here's a video with that episode followed by another more conventional episode (it has an audience) but still a great interview with some serious issues and points
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fX9IXuxOrX0
Yeah, it started. I love all the tidbits Goddoggo. As usual you do good work and it is appreciated. Both of these are shows I have only watched a couple of times. Shandling has never done much for me in anything I have seen him in. I really haven't given Ferguson much of a chance to. He is on too damn late, and I am old.
I had Craig Ferguson at 17th, and I'm pretty sure Sarah had it too. Ferguson is a wizard at spontaneous interviews, riffing with Geoff, or remembering/eulogizing his lost family and friends (for example, Michael Clarke Duncan).

Yes, it's a different version. The one that everybody (except you and me) is obsessed with started in 2005. I've never seen a single episode of either and have no intention of changing that.

99. The Larry Sanders Show
100. The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson
I've seen a few episodes of each of these shows, but I don't really care for either of them. I pretty much only watch talk shows when there's a guest that I like on the show, and even then, I usually only watch their segment.
I'm glad to see that "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." (2013) was on the one point list. I didn't vote for it because it's too new, and it hasn't really proven it's legacy yet, but I love the show, and I haven't missed an episode since it premiered.

I'm glad you mentioned that. I've had my thread setting inverted for years, so I forget sometimes it's not like that for everyone. I fixed it now and changed my thread setting for the duration of the tv list so I don't have to remember to put the numbers so that they look backwards to me. It's actually really hard to get used to. I'm very comfortable with being backwards. :)

Just a suggestion. For any shows that you haven't seen, you may want to ask the people who included it on their lists. If they like the show that much, they may be able to help you with the trivia.
Also, IMDB and Wikipedia are usually pretty good for trivia.

Yeah, but then they know it made the list. I'm pretty good at researching things. I'll find something to include, it just may not be as in depth as a show that I'm really familiar with.
On another note, I'm really surprised at p'oed that 101 didn't make it. I'm not going to let those cats out of the bag yet, but there were some surprising near misses. I'll be adding those to the second post either after the list is done or before the top ten.

It is Jeffrey Tambor. He is hilarious in the show. And The Larry Sanders Show actually isn't a late night talk show, it's an HBO sitcom that is based around a fictional late night talk show. One of my favorite shows of all time and I'm happy that someone besides me voted for it. It deserves to be on the list.

I watch David Letterman almost every night, but I used to pull tendons from reaching for the remote so fast when the Worldwide Pants logo flashed on the screen and Ferguson's show followed. I thought Ferguson was obnoxious, annoying, unfunny and a terrible interviewer. Then I came home drunk one night and didn't bother turning the channel, and I actually found myself somewhat amused by his antics. Since then I watch his show on occasion, usually while I'm surfing these forums late at night. Geoff the gay skeleton robot is hilarious. To be honest, I wish he was the host instead of Ferguson, but the latter's don't-give-a-f**k approach and improvisational style provide a lot of amusement and fun. I wish I had given the show more of a chance early on since it will soon be coming to an end.
I've seen bits and pieces of The Larry Sanders Show. It seems like something I might like.

theme song (http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=O9CILgmFAVI)
Quote: How do you like the taste of despair, eh?!! It is the last taste you fools will ever know... ~ Raditz
Dragon B Z picks up where Dragon Ball left off and is based off the last 325 chapters of the manga. Decapitations and spine-severings abound as Goku and his gang defend the Earth from various villains.
Let's get rich moment Dragon Ball Z was a merchandising powerhouse. You could literally dress from head to toe in Dragon Ball Z apparel while playing with the action figures.
Legacy The "It's Over 9000!" meme is apparently the most used meme in internet history. I personally had never seen the meme before researching the show, but the internet told me so it must be true.

From time to time I'll post a fact from the complete list that I thought was note-worthy, surprising or fun. Here's the first one:
Tv Show List Fun Fact # 1 There was a total of 548 tv shows that received at least one vote. That would make for an average of 9.13 tv shows per person. Of course it didn't work out Ike that, but every member had at least one show that they were the only one to vote for.

That's really weird. That makes no sense at all. Even less sense than doing it with Blackadder.
Did people specify which Dr. Who they were voting for, Godoggo? I can't imagine they did as it's all one thing.
Never Mind the Buzzcocks got one point from me. It's gone off the boil a bit since they started getting guest presenters, but it used to be really good.
Buzzcocks lost it when Mark Lamarr left. His piss weak replacement rarely raised a smile, while guest presenters (with a few exceptions) completely miss the vibe of the programme. If Buzzcocks had just been Lamarr or still was, it'd be on my list for sure. It's a definite top 100 for me.

It'll be interesting to see the Americans reaction to prolonged exposure to Corden.
Three I've not watched so far. I tried with Larry Sanders, but it's not my thing. I used to like It's Gary Shandling's Show back in the 80's, but this just didn't work for me. Ditto Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm. I remember when Craig Ferguson was just an actor. :D I am surprised that The Larry Sanders Show is this low.

The Doctor Who thing was a bit weird. I wasn't really sure why IMDb had it listed as two separate series, my best guess is because the show went hiatus for some time? I dunno. And as far as the separate votes on it go, I started just counting all of them for the 2005 series, but I planned on just listing it as an all-encompassing type thing. Any error that was made there can be attributed to me.

I can see the Dr Who separation more than I can the Blackadder one. When Dr Who came back after a 16 year gap it was a relaunch with very much a Russell T Davies driven series. OK it was still the Doctor and all the paraphernalia but it was different in style, obviously after all those years. Blackadder on the other hand was written by the same writers and starred the same people. Alright they were set in different time periods but they were in effect reincarnations of their own characters.
Never mind. IMDB rules! :)

Larry Sanders used to be on late night BBC2. Same as Arrested Development and Seinfeld, after it's doomed 9pm slot opening.
I could understand the Blackadder one if it was between The Blackadder and Blackadder 2-4 beacuse of the changes in medium, writing, characters, etc. But Dr. Who is Dr. Who, for me. I understand I'm not exactly the right person to see the difference. :D

I'm with you on Seinfeld.
Geoff the gay skeleton robot is hilarious.
Geoff is a f*cking legend! In fact the guy that does the voice of Geoff, Josh Robert Thompson , is just brilliant. I love all his voices and bits - Miriam, all the flies, Jerry the Room Service guy etc. And he's brilliantt at impressions, particularly Morgan Freeman. The bits where he gets Craig to crack up are some of my absolute favourites.
Shame he's leaving and being replaced by the utterly unfunny James Corden. It's a step backwards.
His laid-back, truly conversational and entertaining style is exemplified by his interviews with Ewan McGregor, IMO.
I couldn't believe it when it was announced that Corden was going to replace him. In fact I can't believe how popular and successful Corden has got in general. Cannot stand the man. Comes off like such an arrogant, egotistical douche a lot of the time and I think he is just brutally unfunny. There's a show on Sky1, A League of Their Own, that I would probably be a fan of except that I can't sit through a whole episode because he's the host.
Oh yeah and that's reminded me, I love when he has fellow Scots on like Ewan McGregor or Billy Connolly. Oh and I loved his week of shows in Scotland.
It seems like there are a fair few people who wish they'd watched more of him. Well here are a few youtube channels you might like to try.
TVs Craig Ferguson ch2 (https://www.youtube.com/user/TVsCraigFerguson2/videos?sort=da&flow=grid&view=0) - I think this has every episode for the last few years though they are each split into about 6 different sections. I'm so obsessed with the show that I've actually been going back through all of these for the last few months or so, constantly got them on while surfing the web. Because of his style the shows are actually quite timeless. His monologues aren't constantly about the latest news stories like Jay Leno so you can still enjoy them even years later.
onechirimine2 (https://www.youtube.com/user/onechirimine2/videos?flow=grid&sort=da&view=0) - Full episodes for the last while and also some classic ones from years gone by.
Craig Ferguson and the ladies (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9Lp2hNjO-2JQv4shUIkv0Q) - A channel dedicated to his inteviews with female guests.
Fergufool (https://www.youtube.com/user/Fergufool/videos) - Assortment of clips
I mentioned how I'm going through the old episodes and I just saw this bit last night. It's one of his deliberately daft sketches and then at the 6 minute mark it all begins to break down into a fit of giggles. :D

Oh and just as my final word on Craig Ferguson, I heartily recommend his excellent autobiography, American on Purpose. It's a very funny, witty, candid and occasionally poignant read.

25. Agents of SHIELD
First of all thanks Godoggo and JJ for taking the time and effort to do this :).
From the one point shows i'm really surprised that the Original CSI only had one point, it was the only one i actually liked; i always loved Grissom. NMTB was good when Mark Lamarr and Simon Amstell hosted as well as a few of the guest hosts like Frankie Boyle, but it was never close to making my list. Other than those the only ones i've seen are Pokemon, and a few of the Frank Skinner hosted Room 101 episodes.
Never actually heard of The Larry Sanders Show, and only seen 2 or 3 episodes of Craig Ferguson, i thought it was pretty good obviously CF is great because he's from Glasgow :D .
In the first list i sent JJ, DBZ was 25. I changed my mind on it because it had been so long since i watched it, and i wasn't sure how much the cheesiness would irratate me now. Still it was probably my favourite show as a kid, there was nothing better than coming home from school to watch the neverending Frieza Saga on Cartoon Network . Also it's the only Anime i preferred in English Dub, i mean Vegeta sounds awesome and Frieza sounds like a drag queen .

Maybe this is a dumb question and I know I could try and look up the original thread but I am extraordinarily lazy so maybe someone can answer me: If a show made the "1 Pointer List", does that mean that only one person voted for it? And if that's the case, does it mean that if it isn't on that list, all the other shows you voted for made the Top 100 list?

I think it means that the show only received a total of one point, therefore:
1) Only one person voted for it
AND
2) It was the last title on their list (giving it only one point).

If a show makes the "One Pointers List" it means that one person voted for it as their #25 and nobody else voted for it at all.
The #100 show on the countdown got a total of 44 points. So any show that got fewer total points than that - regardless of how many people voted for it - did not make the list.

Quote: Dean Winchester: [Looking at the haunted hotel] We might even run into Fred and Daphne inside. Mmmm... Daphne. Love her.
Described as a Buffy meets the X - Files type show, a demon hunting brother duo travel the U.S.
It took ten years to finally get a network to sign off on the pilot, but Supernatural quickly became one of the WB's then the CW's most successful shows.
Interesting tidbit: Episodes are often named after movies or classic rock songs.
Let's beat 'em to the punch moment When deciding to cast another younger brother the writers titled the episode in which he appears "Jumping the Shark". In yet another wink-wink- nudge-nudge moment, the brothers can be seen eating at Cousin Oliver's Diner.
In case you don't know, jumping the shark comes from a Happy Days episode where Fonzie literally jumps a shark. It has come to mean the moment a show goes over the edge and no longer becomes as good as it was.
Cousin Oliver syndrome refers to when a younger cast member is brought in because the other cast has grown up out of the cute stage as when Cousin Oliver was brought into the Brady Bunch cast.

I've seen a few episodes of Dragon Ball, but it wasn't my cup of tea, so I didn't give Dragon Ball Z a try. Now I've watched quite a few clips from the show and it doesn't look bad, just maybe not my thing.
It was my favorite show when I was 12. But I wouldn't try to revisit it. The manga is considered superior as well.
Out of the one thousand anime shows reviewed here, it got one of the lowest ratings (2):
http://www.nihonreview.com/anime/
"I seriously don’t know where to begin. Right now, on one hand, I have my favorite TV show from my pubescent years while on the other I have a steaming pile of ****. As much as I would love to write a glowing review from the vantage point of my 13 year old self I just can’t bring myself to recommend Dragonball Z to anyone regardless of the nostalgia value it contains. While Dragonball Z is arguably one of the most popular anime ever, I can whole-heartedly state that it is also one of the worst. Besides the above-average musical score, DBZ suffers from poor animation, God awful pacing, and a chronic lack of originality after the first 40 episodes."

I can tell that this is going to be a very strange and eclectic list. It feels like any show has a chance of making it, so that should make things interesting and unpredictable.
I'm surprised to see Dragon Ball Z make the list. As a kid, I stumbled across it early one morning while flipping channels, and I was instantly enamored by the non-stop fighting. I didn't catch the name of the show, though, and I didn't see it again until a few years later when it started airing every evening on the Cartoon Network. One of my best friends in middle school was a huge fan of the show. He owned every episode on VHS (which probably cost quite a bit of money, since each VHS tape only contained two or three episodes, compared to the box-sets that you can buy nowadays for less than $20). He'd bring a couple of VHS tapes with him to school and let me borrow them, so I caught up on the earlier sagas while watching the Android/Cell saga that was currently airing on television.
I was really into Dragon Ball Z for awhile. I had t-shirts, action figures, video games. I watched several of the films. At the time, I was accustomed to shows that wrapped everything up in thirty minutes, so the serialization of Dragon Ball Z felt exciting and fresh. I couldn't wait to see the next episode. When I think back to the show nowadays, a lot of it seems very dragged out, and I remember entire episodes that seemed to feature nothing but lots and lots of grunting as the characters leveled up. But I haven't actually watched an episode in forever. I want to buy the box-sets at some point and revisit it.
I didn't vote for Dragon Ball Z, nor did I give any consideration to doing so, but I am a fan of the show.

I don't think I've ever even heard of One Piece and I really couldn't care less about football.
So, yeah, didn't vote for either.
I seriously considered MNF when we had a conversation about it towards the beginning of the list. Nothing was can't miss TV for me like MNF through the 90's. I don't know why I don't feel that way anymore. Maybe my love for sports has died down a bit, maybe because they put so many games on TV now. It used to be local teams at 1 and 4 on Sunday, and then MNF was the big game. Doesn't seem like it is that way anymore for better or worse..
Ultimately I stuck with narrative TV because, kind of similar to Cricket, that was a slippery slope I didn't want to start down as ESPN was about the only channel my TV was on for a decade or so.

I love football, but I decided not to vote for Monday Night Football. There have been some really great moments though. Cosell announcing Lennon's death to an American audience who didn't have the luxury of finding out on social media, Tony Dorsett's 99 yard touchdown run, Brett Favre's big game the night after his father passed, and a bunch more. Your enjoyment of the show relies on what you think of football of course, so this show was always gonna be the most polarizing on the list.
Hmmm. When we talked about it, I thought me and you might be the only ones to vote for it and neither of us did.
My most memorable MNF game is BO literally running over the Seahawks and Bosworth. The Favre game was pretty great too.

I consider myself a bit of an (amatuer) football historian though. Luckily for me though, I've seen a bunch of old games on youtube and various other streaming sites. The NFL usually pulls those games from youtube though, sadly.
Dorsett only played three years later then Campbell but that must have been just enough for me. Campbell's career ended when I was 8, that would have been right around when I started watching with my dad. Raiders-Redskins is the first Super Bowl I remember watching, that was '84 I think.

Campbell didn't have a very long career, his running style combined with the volume of carries he received combined with being the only real offensive weapon Houston had led to his early demise. He is an example of that saying about stars that shine the brightest.
The earliest things I remember about watching football come from the time when the Cowboys dynasty of the 90s were coming to an end. It must have been around the time Troy, Michael, and Deion were all fixing to leave.
I wish every football fan had gotten to see Montana-Rice together. I am sure every generation has that thought about the players they grew up with though.

That was my first Superbowl, too. They'd started to show the play off that season and I had the Cowboys, while my mum took the Redskins. I think they met in the Conference game, Cowboys lost, so I took whoever the Redskins played next. It was the Raiders. A Raiders fan was born. :p I've not watched it seriously for a good 15-20 years now, though. Which is a shame, because we've gone from one highlight show a week and the play offs, to 3 live games on a Sunday, the Monday night game and league games at Wembley. My 10 year old self would've loved all that.
Who voted for Supernatural? I saw the first two season and some of season 3. I have upto season 5, I think, on dvd, but I've not watched them. Season 3 already felt like it was starting to go off the rails a little. One day I'll watch it.
As for the other one, I'm assuming Guap has struck.
I watched Monday Night Football religiously from 1970 to about 1975 and through the '80s when the Rams were on. Haven't had much use for it since. But it was fun entertainment when I was younger. Frank Gifford seemed a little straight as an announcer, but that was partly a put-on, I believe. Dandy Don Meredith was flaky and funny and a perfect foil for the Human Mouth, Hohw-ward Co-sell. Of course, Howard was the first person to sometimes report on some breaking news while the game was going, like John Lennon's death.

Oh, I lived in Gainesville during the Tim Tebow era. It was absolutely ridiculous.
Also, I waited tables for awhile when I was in college. There was a game in progress and a customer asked me the score. I told him that I wasn't paying attention and I didn't like football. He complained to the manager about me that I had a bad attitude and need to learn how to support my community.

Here in New York, more than half the people here are die-hard New York Yankees fans. It's almost as bad as living in Dallas Cowboys territory. (But at least the other half of the people here are New York Mets fans, so it's not all bad. :) )

When I went to college at Hofstra University, I lived on campus, and my window overlooked the field where the New York Jets practiced. My friends always wanted to come to my room so they could watch them practice, but I would have been happier if the Jets found a different place to practice.
When I lived in Texas, I worked in a computer store selling systems, and one day we had a customer that nobody would help, so I went over to help him. After I sold him a system, everyone in the store came over to me to find out what he said, what he bought, and anything else I could tell them about him, but I couldn't figure out what was the big deal about selling a computer system. (After all, it was a computer store, and we did that all the time.)

I'm a football junkie, but I consider Monday Night Football a sporting event, not a television show. If I voted for it, then why not also vote for Sunday Night Football? Or the Superbowl? My whole list would've been sporting events if I had gone down that road.
Monday Night Football has definitely lost its luster from the over saturation of other televised games. I remember MNF being a bigger deal when I was younger. I'm an Eagles fan, and my mom would always let me stay up late to watch the game if they played on Monday night, but my memories of those games typically involve heartbreaking defeats to the Dallas Cowboys, my most despised team. If I remember correctly, though, it was on Monday Night Football that Donovan McNabb executed that amazing play where he scrambled behind the line of scrimmage for like 15 seconds or more, evading multiple tacklers, then completed a deep bomb down the field to Freddie Mitchell or James Thrash or one of the other bum receivers he had at the time. And it was against the Cowboys, too, making it even sweeter. As a die-hard Eagles fan and staunch supporter of McNabb, my all-time favorite player, that's one of my favorite plays ever, right up there with the epic 4th-and-26 against the Packers in the playoffs.

Apparently I have a million of these stories. Sorry, but it feels good to commiserate.
Where I worked everyone wanted to wait on the football players. I always gave up those tables because I didn't care.
One time I walked up to a table and one guy points to another guy with him and says "do you know who you are about to wait on?" like I was about to be bestowed this great honor. To be fair to the football player, he was really embarrassed and apologized to me and ended up being really nice. His friend was a jerk though.
Yeah to say we place unwarranted importance on sports in this culture would be an understatement. I can't imagine getting star struck in any situation though. Maybe if I met Kate Upton.;)

Yeah, I have a bunch of these stories about guests at the comic conventions. Many of them walk through the dealers room looking for stuff to buy, and they usually expect big discounts because they're celebrities. The only actual football player I ever met and knew about it was that guy I waited on and he was nice and left me a huge tip, so it really wasn't the football players theirselves I had a problem with, it was the ridiculous excessive hero worship and inflated importance put on winning a game.

94. Pride and Prejudice (1995 mini-series)
http://i60.tinypic.com/ff0jz7.jpg
Theme Song (http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mWxPSnGoPG8)
Quote:No, indeed, my mind was more agreeably engaged. I've been meditating on the very great pleasure which a pair of fine eyes in the face of a pretty woman can bestow. ~ Mr. Darcy
A BBC mini-series adapted from the famous Jane Austen novel. Pride and Prejudice has been made into either a movie or mini-series ten times and many declare this to be the very best one.
It was a sexier and more modern version than anything that had been done before it alienating the purists, but ultimately making it extremely popular.
People really love Mr. Darcy moment: A twelve foot statue of Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy was unveiled in London in 2013
Most memorable moment: The see through wet shirt scene was in the top ten most memorable moments in a British poll.
Points:47 1 1st place, 1 4th place
93. 3rd Rock From the Sun (1996 - 2001)
http://i58.tinypic.com/55nm7a.jpg
Theme Song (http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gnIsFjO5ExQ)
Quote: Dr. Mary Albright: For future reference: I have a red Volvo.
Dr. Dick Solomon: Please, Dr. Albright, we barely know each other.
A group of aliens is sent to earth to study humans and pose as a family.
Really funny writing and a powerhouse cast including John Lithgow, Jane Curtain and Jan Hooks made for one of the most popular sitcoms at that time.
The series revolves around the fish out of water family trying to fit in and understand life on Earth. Lithgow played Dick Solomon with a mixture of child-like naivety and mega-egotism and made him one of the funniest characters in sitcom history.
Funny Twilight Zone reference: William Shatner, who played The Big Giant Head gets off a plane to tell Dick that he saw a strange creature on the wing. Dick exclaims, "Hey that happened to me!" Both men played characters that see a strange creature on the wing of a plane in the Twilight Zone movies. Shatner the original, Lithgow the remake.[/B]
Funny Footloose reference: Dick lectures Tommy and Harry about their loud music which morphs into the same lecture his character gives in Footloose.
Jump the Shark Moment: For many that moment was when Vicki Dubceck gave birth to The Big Giant Head's baby.

A mini-series just made the countdown... so yeah.
My wife loves "The Pride and Prejudice" miniseries with her vote for the "perfect Mr. Darcy" (Colin Firth) - "handsome, sexy, arrogant but vulnerable". I gave it to her as a Christmas present. :) But she didn't vote because she's not a member. i think it's good too but I never considered it since I'm, ya know, a guy. HA!
As far as Monday Night Football goes, I watched it for the games obviously, but the announcer/color commentators can really push it from sporting event to entertainment. Some are boring, but others have a chemistry and sometimes, a conflict, which adds a lot to the "show". That's what I got from MNF when it started.

92. Will & Grace (1998 - 2006)
http://i60.tinypic.com/2u91r91.jpg
Theme Song (http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iPcJkoDOago)
Quote: “Wow, 10 years of game night. What a milestone. Maybe you should celebrate with a suicide pact.” ~ Karen Walker
Will & Grace was an ensemble cast of four. Will and Grace became best friends in college. Jack is Will's friend and Karen is the wealthy socialite that inexplicably works for Grace.
Each character brought a different element of humor to the table. Will mostly played the straight (gay) guy and comic foil but was not without his awkward situations and zingy one liners. Grace was the neurotic, self-absorbed Jewish girl whose messy life needed Will's constant attention. Jack was the flamboyant, fickle, extremely shallow and promiscuous one, while Karen was the booze swilling, pill popping, rich, entitled , wise-cracking one.
It ran for eight seasons, was a successful part of the must-see-tv line-up and won itself sixteen Emmys.
Legacy: Each star won an Emmy making it one of the three sitcoms in history ever to do that.
What the hell? moment: In the series finale we see Will & Grace reuniting after 18 years each with their own children in tow. It didn't make people happy, not it did it make a lot of sense, that Will and Grace spent eighteen years apart from each other.
Funny Karen Walker moment: Karen is sitting on a bench with some housekeepers. When asked what she is doing she replies, "Oh, I'm just hanging out with these Rosarios. "
Funny dumb Jack moment: Super Cher fan Jack finally gets his chance to meet her and mistakes her for an impersonator.

Two bounty hunters, Spike and Jet Black are join up with three others: Faye Valentine - con artist; Edward- preteen girl with a flare for computer hacking and Ein- genetically engineered Welsh Corgi. Together they travel aboard their spaceship, Bebop.
Cowboy Bebop has been one of the most successful and popular anime series in The United States. For many it is considered the "gateway" anime as many have started off watching it. Also considered the anime for people who don't like anime.
Bebop shaggy dog story: they crew need to find something to watch a beta cassette that may contain important details about Faye's past. Instead they grab a VHS player. The beta player arrives in the mail anyway.
speaking of dogs: Because of Cowboy Bebop, thousands of Corgis now answer to the name Ein.

The 9th place vote for Will & Grace was from me. I think it's a phenomenal show and one of my all time favorite sitcoms. Karen Walker is probably my favorite sitcom character ever. She is hilarious.
I can't believe I didn't vote for Cowboy Bebop, but I'm grateful others did.

Fun List Fact # 3 # 94 Pride and Prejudice marks the last time that two votes were able to get a show on the list.
Fun List Fact # 4 In the bottom ten three members had two shows from their list to appear. Those members were Teeter_G, The Gunslinger and Thekgproject.

At least there is one sitcom we both like. :p
Never watched the Pride and Prejudice miniseries, but i have read the book and watched a film version of it; i'd imagine my older sister probably owns it since she loves costume dramas. Never tried to watch the NFL, so i can't really say anything there.
Both 3rd Rock and Will And Grace are decent sitcoms, that i haven't seen enough of to hold an opinion either way. Still John Lithgow will always be the Trinity Killer to me.

Theme Song (http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FtYRMGnj-_A)
Quote: Dean Winchester: [Looking at the haunted hotel] We might even run into Fred and Daphne inside. Mmmm... Daphne.
45 points 1 3rd place & 1 4th place
one of the best tv-show of all-time, Haters gonna hate.... One incredibly badass character in Dean Winchester in his awesome Chevy Impala and Sam the intellectual one the semi-demon. Badass soundtracks and awesome tv-show.

I didn't vote for Cowboy Bebop, but I am happy it showed up. I could see myself revisiting the show and enjoying it even more.
3rd Rock was on my list, the first to make it for me. Terrifically funny show and Lithgow was just immense on it. I remember that it was responsible for perhaps the biggest laugh I've ever had at a sitcom. It was the group at a fancy dress party and Dick was dressed as a pirate. Someone (maybe his nemesis Strudwick) asked him "where are your buccaneers?" to which he indignantly answered "they're under my bucking hat!"
It might not sound like much but I just remember it catching me off guard and I couldn't stop laughing.
I was one of the two people who put "Mad About You" at #25 on my list.
Who was the other one?
As G-Dog said I was the other person. Didn't really expect it to make the list but still nice it got a mention.
Mad About You was decent. I've always had a weird crush on Helen Hunt, even as a kid. I guess I just dug older women
As honeykid said I've also always had a crush on Helen Hunt. :yup:

I remember that scene and it cracked me up too. It's Lithgow's delivery that makes the joke work. It could have been a real groaner in less capable hands.
The show could be seen as a little too silly by some, but with Lithgow and Curtin being the seasoned veterans that they are they kept it working.

I LOVE 3rd Rock From the Sun. It was in my top 5. I'm currently watching season 4 of 3rd Rock. I've never laughed so hard as I do when watching it.
The funniest episode that I seen was when Sally was wondering why Don the cop, didn't love her anymore?
Sally says in a deadpan voice to Don, "Is it because I pee orange in the morning?" Damn funniest delivery of a joke I've seen.
John Lithgow and Kristen Johnston are priceless, so's the rest of the cast.

3rd Rock was funny, I never watched it regularly, but I caught it a few times here and there. Loved Wayne Knight on it.
Monday Night Football? That seems odd to have on the countdown. I wouldn't really classify it as a show per-say.

91. Cowboy Bebop
I've seen a bunch of episodes of "Will & Grace", but I've never been a big fan of the show. I mostly watched it in reruns when there wasn't much else on TV at the time. It had it's moments, but it had no chance of making my list.
"Cowboy Bebop" is another anime that I've seen a little bit of at the comic cons, but not enough to know anything about the show.
So basically, still nothing from my list has made the countdown. :(

Hey, here's a suggestion. Why don't you make your own top 25 TV list like the rest of us did, and then you can join in the fun by comparing your list to the countdown. Just because it didn't count in the voting doesn't mean that you can't still have fun.
Just don't post your whole list yet. You can post your hits and misses like everyone else, and then you can post your complete list after the countdown is done just like everyone else will, just remember to mention that your list is what you would have submitted if you had known about this countdown in time.

I didn't notice this before, but On the Air is my one-pointer. I put it there, because I knew it had no shot of making the list. I just wanted some recognition for it somehow. It's David Lynch doing a sitcom. It's just as good as it is intriguing and weird.

It's interesting to see that some people intentionally put something that they know won't make the list as their last entry just so that it gets recognition as a one-pointer.
It never even occurred to me to do that. I intentionally put "Mad About You" as my last entry because I thought that it had a chance at making the list, and I was hoping that my one point might be enough to push it onto the list, or maybe even up a spot.
In this case, my one-pointer helped because it ended up being the only show that got two points based on two different people having it as their one-pointers, but that wasn't my intention.

Pride and Prejudice!!
I am so surprised and excited that this made the list. I have watched this many times over the past nearly twenty years and it never gets old. The best adaptation of any Jane Austen novel, the thing all other costume dramas aspire to be but never quite succeed. It's pretty much perfect.
I had this at number one on my list.
Who else voted for it?
I found it difficult choosing between longer running series and complete 'mini-series' like this. Something like P&P can be complete and rewatchable and brilliant, like a film but longer, while longer running series can give you entertainment for years and years but then go off the boil or jump the shark or whatever, and it's harder to say you love all of it. But I think the longer running series will have the advantage in a countdown like this.
I've seen bits of Third Rock, Will and Grace and Cowboy Bebop.

In my opinion, HBO has the very best programming and the sole reason I did not include any HBO shows on my Top 10 prediction list was because it is a premium pay channel and if you don't have it or go out and buy it on DVD, you won't see it. In a perfect world, the Top 10 would be mostly HBO shows, but simply based on the popularity and wide availability (read:FREE) of broadcast and network syndicated television shows, I had to expect to see few, if any premium/pay channel shows in the Top 10.Again, I would love to be surprised though!

That's dumb logic. You pay for tv in general. AMC doesn't come in a regular package for me, neither does showtime, so good bye to Breaking Bad, Walking Dead and Dexter?

Those are all basic cable, except for Dexter which was on Showtime (maybe it's on regular cable now, who knows). I forgot that the sopranos was also aired on basic cable after the series ended. Also, sites like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon offer those shows in their streaming services. They can also be streamed online through one of the various less-than-legal sites. So not having the premium channels or buying the DVDs doesn't automatically mean that people aren't watching those shows.
R.P. McMurphy

That's true, I didn't really think about the netflix and Hulu aspect of it. Game of thrones thought, that is still airing so either you're paying for it or watching it illegally. And I've not seen a lot of HBO shows on netflix unless they were really old but then again, the netflix browser on Apple TV sucks and a lot of stuff, unless I specifically search for it, I won't find it.

10-13-14, 02:56 PM
You can't usually watch current seasons of shows on the legal streaming services, but you can watch the older seasons of them. So unless a show is in its first season, people who don't have access to the particular channel may still be watching them. They're just not up to date with the latest episodes.

I have two seasons of it on DVD and I didn't buy anymore because I felt that by the end of Season Two, it was starting to stink a little.
I still put it on my list, though, because I did like what I saw and it's possible there's still good episodes after Season Three (which I've probably seen on TV before). Plus I figured others would vote for it and it would make the list.

Quote: On caves- This is our planet's final frontier, and a world where only the most adventurous dare to go.
Produced by the BBC. It took five years to make Planet Earth. It was the first nature documentary to be filmed in high definition and the most expensive they ever commissioned.
Each habitat of the Earth was covered including Polar, Mountain, Cave, Desert, Plains, Fresh Water, Seas, Ocean, Forest.
It won an Emmy for best nonfiction series and Time magazine placed it at #4 in the top ten new tv series of 2007.
Big Budget: The production budget was a whopping 25$ million.
Gross moment for the crew: They had to spend a month filming on a big pile of bat guano with cock roaches constantly crawling into their clothes.
The elusive snow leopard: It took three years to film one.

The Mighty Boosh is a comic fantasy containing humour and pop-culture references featuring comedians Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding.
Barrett is the musician of the group and Fielding the artist.
The episodes include a lot of musical numbers and usually involve fantasy style plot lines.
Legacy: Barratt and Fielding invented a style of singing known as crimping. The Urban Dictionary defines it as "A form of scat singing usually performed as a duo. First invented and developed by Vince Noir and Howard Moon. Often Characterized by lines of interconnecting verse usually referencing abstract imagery, concepts and characters."

I never said people aren't watching those shows. His point was that he didn't include any HBO show because you need to pay for HBO.
You need to pay for Netflix as well.
Premium or not. You're paying for something.
I was agreeing with you, actually. I was agreeing that just because those shows are from premium channels doesn't mean they aren't going to have a fanbase among people who aren't subscribers to those channels. :)

I've seen bits and piece of Planet Earth, but nature documentaries aren't my thing these days. I used to watch that sort of thing all the time when I was a child, but I swear the older I get the shorter my attention span becomes.
Never seen any of the other one.
