18. Pan's Labyrinth (2006)
Guillermo Del Toro
http://gifs2.files.wordpress.com/2013/10/pans-labyrinth-14.gif
''And it is said that the Princess returned to her father's kingdom. That she reigned there with justice and a kind heart for many centuries. That she was loved by her people. And that she left behind small traces of her time on Earth, visible only to those who know where to look''

- The Most impressive fantasy movie of all time in my opinion and also the best movie from Guillermo Del Toro. An incredible movie with an awesome storyline and some great visuals who are truly unbelievable to watch. Many bizarre creatures in this flick and they are all really entertaining and amazing to watch! I like the work of the little girl Ivana Baquero it really surprise me! This is my favorite Spanish movie and also one of my favorite foreign movie (I'm not the biggest foreign movie fan).

17. Taxi Driver (1976)
Martin Scorsese
http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_llju7hIGvd1qclvq3.gif
''You talkin' to me?''

- The Best Scorsese movie of all time and also the best character-study movie ever created. The Camera Shots , The Cinematography , the character of ''Travis Bickle'' and the beautiful visuals of the wild New-York City... all of these are exceptionals great factors who makes this film completely unique. This movie is also in my Top 5 of the 70's. The Storyline is great and built with so many astounding details even after 5 rewatch I still find something new over and over again. One of the most influential movie of all-time.

''You don't know me, but I know you. Many people love you for who you are''

- The Best Movie from Germany and one of my favorite foreign movie of all-time hands down. A Truly beautiful story surround by great acting from Ulrich Mhe , Martina Gedeck and Sebastian Koch. The Mood and the atmosphere of this german beauty is very authentic and amazing. Maybe my favorite quiet movie of all-time but such a powerful and intense one. The Ending is perfection and I recommand it to everybody. R.I.P Ulrich Mhe.

By far the best film on this list so far! Favorites come and go, but if there is one film that I'm sure will ALWAYS be one of my all-time favorites, no matter what (and by this I mean top three), that film is Taxi Driver.

I can't see it winning the 70s list if I'm honest, as it seems it's one of those divisive films around here. For me Jaws still takes it.

Two great films there, Derek. I have Taxi Driver higher, but it's good to see it here and, you're right, it's Scorsese's best. I had The Lives Of Others on my millennium list. I've only seen it twice, but I really liked it. It's one of the films that may, possibly, make it onto my 100 if/when I see it enough times.

''They, uh, was givin' me 10,000 watts a day, you know, and I'm hot to trot. The next woman who takes me out is gonna light up like a pinball machine and pay off in silver dollars''

- Brilliant , powerful and astounding, this movie is incredibly effective on every plan and the casting is awesome especially from Jack Nicholson who give's is 2nd best performance of all-time in my opinion, he is such an amazing actor. The storyline is simple but great and the ending is just the conclusion of an epic masterpiece of the 70's. Louise Fletcher as ''Nurse Ratched'' is also great , shocking and powerful. A truly perfect movie.

14. Trainspotting (1996)
Danny Boyle
http://clicknculture.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/trainspotting.gif?w=584
''Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a ****ing big television, Choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players, and electrical tin can openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol and dental insurance. Choose fixed-interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisure wear and matching luggage. Choose a three piece suite on hire purchase in a range of ****ing fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the **** you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing ****ing junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pissing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, ****ed-up brats you have spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life . . . But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life: I chose something else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?''

- Awesome movie about Drugs ,Life and choice. Deeply the best morals in a movie about drugs after Requiem For A Dream. Danny Boyle is a great directors and this movie is his best without a doubt , Ewan Mcgregor , Ewen Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller and Kevin McKidd are amazing in their respective role and the storyline is brilliant and many scenes are shocking and memorable. The cinematography and the atmosphere are a great factor once again in this movie. The Ending is very nice and satisfying for me as a big fan of this kind of movie. Highly Recommended.

13. Psycho (1960)
Alfred Hitchcock
http://missashleypants.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/perkinssmile.gif
''Well, a boy's best friend is his mother. You've never had an empty moment in your entire life, have you?''

- Simply the most awesome and unique cinematography with amazing camera shots I've ever seen and even after 10 viewing you still find something new each times... The best examples is the bra of Marion At the beginning of the movie she's got a white bra and when she decide to steal the money she's got a black bra. This kind of details make thsi movie a perfection of the 60's and one of my favorite horror/thriller of all-time. I'm not the biggest Alfred Hitchcock fan but this movie is just an incredible accomplishment and an instant-classic of his generation. Anthony Perkins is also one of my favorite horror vilain and all the characters are great. The ending is shocking and brilliant. Double Bravo!

12. The Dark Knight (2008)
Christopher Nolan
http://cdn2.crushable.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Heath-Ledger-Joker-The-Dark-Knight.gif
''Some men aren’t looking for anything logical like money. They can’t be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.''

- The best Batman movie of all-time hands down and the best Super-Hero movie ever made. Christian Bale is an incredible Batman but Heath Ledger as The Joker is simply fantastic! One of the most charismatic vilain i've ever had the pleasure to see. The Storyline is incredibly effective and innovative for this kind of movie and complete as hell. The Harvey Dent turn at the end as the vilain ''Two-Face'' is amazing and it turn to be one of my favorite scene of the movie. The ''Why So Serious?'' scene with Heath Ledger unbelievable acting turn to be one of the most memorable scenes of the 2000's so far. An epic masterpiece.

''Sometimes, there's so much beauty in the world - I feel like I can't take it, like my heart is just going to cave in''

- This movie is simply fantastic and highly beautiful. The Best movie about life and choice I've ever seen. Lester Burnham is one of my favorite character of all-time and also Kevin Spacy best role in my opinion. The storyline is very effective and fluid but the best thing in this movie is the ending and the awesome speech of Kevin Spacey which leaves us speechless. Awesome Atmosphere by the way !

''It will be a few months. You can't know where I am. And I can't be seen anywhere near you.''

- THIS MOVIE KICK ASSES! The sickess movie i've ever seen and Iko Uwais is the bes ass-kicker of all-time no doubt about it so f*cking bad-ass it's just unbelivable. The best fighting scenes i've seen in a movie of my life with incredible choegraphy so realistic and captivating! In the last scene, I was in complete boner mode 25min of pure adrealine injection. IKOOOOOOOOO is a L.E.G.E.N.D. The storyline is very complete and I was on the edge of my set during all the 2h30. What are you waiting for mate?

Anyone who watched and enjoyed the first one will love the second one.

The only bad thing about it is, is that it will catch a case of 'Batmanitis'. This is where the second film in a trilogy raises the standards far too high and the third one is inevitably meh in comparison.

''Purple in the morning, blue in the afternoon, orange in the evening. [to her refrigerator] There's my three meals, Mr. Smartypants. And green at night. Just like that, one, two, three, four''

- One of the most important movie and subject of all-time. If you want my opinion, If I was the director of a high-school or whatever, I shall oblige the viewing of this film in every class of the school. It's important for everybody to knew perfectly how drugs is bullsh*t and it's destroys lives everywhere in the world everyday. The Story of the mother and the ''pills'' for becoming thin is very interesting and shockign in my opinion and the story of Harry and all his friends and Girlfriend is also very revealing on how this sh*t is destructive. Truly amazing movie and I highly recommended it for everyone of all ages. The Soundtrack is also very unbelievable .

http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m6br7wjdWI1rob6jjo1_500.gif
''There was me, that is Alex, and my three droogs, that is Pete, Georgie, and Dim, and we sat in the Korova Milkbar trying to make up our rassoodocks what to do with the evening''

- Unique, violent, charismatic, extremely shocking and brilliant. All very good words to describe this 70's masterpiece starring Malcolm McDowell in the role of the charismatic leader of a young delinquent gang. Amazing cinematography and incredible camera shots and visual of the UK landscape. Storyline pretty effective and amazing and also very entertaining. The second best Kubrick's movie in my opinion and one of the most influential movie to date in my opinion. The mood , the atmosphere and the soundtracks are amazing and Beethoven is now good to me just because of this movie so here's another good factor. Brief, Astounding piece of work.

''You're gonna need a bigger boat''

- This movie is AWESOME. Simply the most brilliant and amazing blockbuster movie ever made and also the best movie from the 70's imo. great atmosphere and many memorable scenes with unbelivable acting from Scheider , Shaw and Dreyfuss. All the scenes in the boat are pure visual beauty and the speech from Quint when he talking about the USS Indianapollis is amazing. The look of the shark is great and the cinematography and many camra shots are incredible for a movie of the 70's. Steven Spielberg most influential work and by far the best movie of Roy Scheider career. A Masterpiece.

Whatever. Jaws was almost completely shot with handheld cameras, and the shots, or takes as many of you love to call them, are elegant and complex, as they are in all of Spielberg's movies. He mixes in his personal editing style to create his own brand of tension. If you want to badmouth them, be my guest.

I think it is the excitement only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend, and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope''

- Call me mainstream or call me a bad cinema lover this movie is still one of the best and beautiful accomplishment of ''Hollywood Cinema''. Also, This is Frank Darabont home-run film without a doubt and The Best performance by both Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman imo. Simply beautifuly shots and acted flick. The Storyline is incredibly entertaining and brilliant and all the speech from ''V'' are astounding.... love the part when Nathalie Portman is stuck in the prison very beautifuly shot scene. I probably enjoyed my viewing of Black Swan a little more, but I still voted for Fight Club in the movie tournament. #1:

American History X (1998)
Tony Kaye
http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs22/i/2007/350/3/7/American_history_X_by_PuNkGFX.jpg
- Anyone who don't believe in true magic power of a movie should watch this amazing beauty of an art. Norton gives a blistering , astounding and magical performance and it just shows how you can achieve perfection in your craft in about 2 hours. God I just have tons of emotions right now even more than the first time I watched it with my dad and cry like a 2 years old young boy who wants his ice cream... Almost nobody notice but Edward Furlong is very great too as Danny the youngest brother of Derek. The ending and the whole movie is a pure intense captivating fact of the life, Racism is horrible and Tony Kaye proves it by many obvious ways.... Derek Vinyard perfectly represents the ignorant ''white trash american'' who after living in a different middle than his racist familly realizes that he was wrong all along and It also shows that something it's irreversible in the character of Danny, the amount of hate was to high and it got to him. There is no better movie to remember us that we have to be tolerant.

Many scenes are very shocking but it shows at the near perfection how you could loose complete control of your life or even your mind...

Dinner Scene:
http://images.blu-ray.com/reviews/1264_2.jpg
-Truly unbelivable acting skills shown by Ed Norton(Derek Vinyard) who has an intense discussion about White Cops beating Rodney King with Elliott Gould(Murray) the Jewish frequentation of his mother

The Speech :
http://klipd.com/screenshots/7ab6a1645485a48195f1bba8515a6c11-1.jpg
- Derek giving a speech of hate to all the new white frustrated skinhead of his city. (attack of a grocery story follow)

And after all the hate... the new friends of Derek A black guy con arrest for 6 years for ''assault'' on a cop.
http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/p9ym0JIIorc/0.jpg
- He find himself redemption in prison and realized that all this time he lived in a lie, that the idea he had of black people was completely false and wrong.

The Ending and the conclusion scenes with Edward Furlong(Danny Vinyard) who read his text about racism and the illogic thoughts behind the skinhead movement is the exclamation point of an epic masterpiece of the 90's.

Moral:
''So I guess this is where I tell you what I learned - my conclusion, right? Well, my conclusion is: Hate is baggage. Life's too short to be pissed off all the time. It's just not worth it. Derek says it's always good to end a paper with a quote. He says someone else has already said it best. So if you can't top it, steal from them and go out strong. So I picked a guy I thought you'd like. 'We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature''

This finish my list thanks folks for Rep and Comments ! :D

Very nice Derek; great list and top pick. You have great taste; you should do another one after you watch another 500 movies or so.

I enjoyed looking through this list, Derek! A lot of great movies, obviously, since it's a top 50 only and the fact that's it's of all-time as well...

But to be honest there wasn't really any unexpected or original picks. Like someone said it was a little mainstream focused, but it's your top 50 and I won't come here and criticize you for it. :p As I said it was a lot of fun reading through it, but I don't think I'll ever be able to create a ranked list of my all-time favourite movies. That's way too hard to do. Too many movies that are great in their own way. :)

Nice list Derek. I like American History X and V for Vendetta but I absolutely love Shawshank, The Shining and Fight Club and I care not that people think they're mainstream, they're great films and there's a reason why they top people's lists and it's cos they're so good :)

Nice job bro! Just looked through it to see what all you had, seems we have really similar movie interests. I gave you plus rep for all the movies that I really enjoyed as well. Far too many to count, LOL!
