My taste has been classified by most people I know in real life as "weird". Erasure? "They're weird." Rowan Atkinson? "He's weird." I tell them to watch things like Rushmore, Harold and Maude and Hedwig and the Angry Inch and they come back with "that was... interesting... (by which they mean 'weird')".

It's why I like to come here.

I get that a lot too. I refuse to view movies that are the same ol' Hollywood formula. I like when I sit down to watch a film that I know nothing about and I've never heard of any of the actors.

What exactly constitutes 'black' comedy? Some of the choices are not what i'd expect for this genre, is it any film that makes you laugh at something that (being PC) you shouldn't?

I think the definition of a black comedy is in order:

1. black humor, black humour -- (the juxtaposition of morbid and farcical elements (in writing or drama) to give a disturbing effect)

So really a balck comedy should make you feel a little uncomfortable that you're laughing. Welcome to the Dollhouse is the perfect example. It feels uncomfortable to laugh at some of the situations but they were meant to provoke laughter. Therefore, it's black/dark.

1. Arsenic and Old Lace

2. Dr Strangelove

3. The secretary

4. Delicatessen

5. Mash
