Robbed of an Oscar

Al Pacino! Well maybe he wasn't so good in Dog Day Afternoon like Nicholson was in "..Cuckoo's Nest" in 1975 but Pacino wasn't even nominated for Scarface! And didn't win for Godfather. :/

Val Kilmer wasn't even nominated for his supporting role of Doc Holiday in Tombstone. I thought that was a travesty. For all intents and purposes, he will remain the Doc Holiday for generations to come.

Sissy Spacek for Carrie.

Al Pacino! Well maybe he wasn't so good in Dog Day Afternoon like Nicholson was in "..Cuckoo's Nest" in 1975 but Pacino wasn't even nominated for Scarface! And didn't win for Godfather. :/
The problem with Dog Day Afternoon is that John Cazale upstaged Pacino in that movie.

I don't remember asking you a ******* thing!

Well, Pacino was pretty damn good in Dog Day Afternoon, but I've always found Scarface to be overrated. It's not terrible, but everybody praises it for the things I find annoying in it.

To put it in perspective, Scarface was the relevant movie of it's day, what with the cocaine cowboys running amock, it was perfect.

I liked them both a lot.Well I liked Pacino's character more so maybe that's why I noticed him more too.

I rate villains(Tony Montana maybe is more of an antihero but still) usually this way - the more I don't like him and find him terrifying, bad and repulsive the better performance it is for me.Yes,there are some villains which are interesting and I try to sympathize with them(Joker from Dark Knight) and I like them too but Tony Montana was a negative character and I didn't like him.And that emotions villains should rise for the viewer. If it did - actor did a good job.Oh and Scarface isn't my favorite movie, too but it's one of the best villains I've seen.

Smells mystical, doesn't it?
Brad Pitt wasn't even nominated for Fight Club. That was one of his best performances.

Al Pacino was amazing in Dogs Day Afternoon. He should have won the academy award for that.
I recently saw Dogs Day Afternoon for the first time and I had pretty high expectations going in and truthfully not all of them were met, the film itself wasn't as strong as I had hoped but Pacino's performance was pretty amazing, I think he mainly holds that movie up and I think he's the reason that movie is so highly regarded.

I agree that Pacino's performance is the reason it is considered to be one of the great films. He pretty much carried the whole film from start to finish.

Held his own, yes. Upstaged..? no.

'Starship Troopers' losing 'Best Visual Effects' to 'Titanic' bugged me a tad. No pun intended. I don't hold the Oscars in high regard, or any regard, anyway.

I don't agree with a few of them but the ones that stand out are definitely Sly over Peter Finch For Rocky . And Sly to even be nominated for Rocky Balboa . I like it though some unique choiches .
