Christmas is on it's way. To keep everything original, I have made a thread to where if there is anything you want to post about Christmas, come here. Share pics, videos, pics of you on Christmas morning, that jolly holiday music, a movie you are going/went to see on Christmas Day this year or some other time, or anything related to Christmas, even if you just want to talk about Christmas or share thoughts at the present moment, etc. So to get started, I'll make a nice little entry to the discussion.

Must be a foot fetish thing.

  • Why does Santa Claus deliver presents?

Obviously because he's a stinkin' Pinko Commie Socialist. Much like Barack Obama.

  • How come we use Christmas stockings?

Because nobody would want gifts out of Christmas Underwear. Especially when the chocolate meets the skidmarks.

Can't answer 'em all, but here goes...

What has always been one of your favorite Christmas traditions?
I like the Christmas music my family plays in the background. It's a near-constant presence the entire month of December and it makes for a really lovely atmosphere.

Do you believe in Santa Claus?
Nah. I was told the truth at an extremely young age.

What's the best/favorite present you have received?
A trip to New York -- I wrote about it in January.

Do you like snow?
If I don't have to drive much, and it's not all wet and icy, then absolutely.

Does it snow/get cold where you live?
Oh yeah.

Is Christmas your favorite holiday? If not, then what is?
It is.

  • Why does Santa Claus deliver presents?
Obviously because he's a stinkin' Pinko Commie Socialist. Much like Barack Obama.
Except for the part where Santa doesn't pay for the presents by taking your money. Other than that, bitchin' simile!

Yay! Christmas. I'm excited. I think.

Wasn't as good as it used to be, though (for me). Years ago. Meh.

Why?

What are your top 10 favorite Christmas movies?
1. Ernest Saves Christmas
2. Home Alone
3. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
4. Jingle All The Way
5. Die Hard
6. The Santa Clause
7. Mixed Nuts
8. Gremlins

And I can't think of anymore favorites....

Do you remember your first Christmas?
Absolutely not - I was a month old.

Do you leave cookies and milk out for Santa Claus?
I am not mental - I don't leave food out for people who don't exist. You'll attract rats.

Does it snow/get cold where you live?
Yes.

Is Christmas your favorite holiday? If not, then what is?
I don't care for holidays anymore.

Why do we kiss under the mistletoe?
It's a chance for people to allow their inner slut to emerge.

Why do we give people presents on Christmas?
So we won't look bad in their eyes.

Why are Christmas colors red, white, and green?
They would have been red, gold and green, but Boy George grabbed those for the colors of his dreams in "Karma Chameleon".

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
My 10 Fave Christmas Movies:

1. Gremlins
2. The Man Who Came to Dinner (1942)
3. Die Hard
4. The Nightmare Before Christmas
5. The Miracle on 34th Street (1947)
6. It's a Wonderful Life
7. Meet Me in St. Louis
8. Remember the Night
9. Joyeux Noël (2005)
10. A Christmas Story

I can tell you about the first Christmas I can remember. I was probably four or five (1960 or 1961). Our family usually took turns hosting big Christmas family get-togethers, and this was one where everybody came to our house. We had what we called "the den" in our backyard which was a cool building with a fireplace and an old 1920s record player (not a Victrola, but something in a cabinet). The family gathered out there for most of Christmas, but this was really a very unique day for me, so besides still having the photos from it (which I currently cannot find), I remember it so clearly because when my Grandpa showed up in the morning with his pickup truck, he, my Dad and I drove up to the San Bernardino Mountains (about a 45 minute trip back then), and we cut down a tree! It never passed through my young, but highly-active brain, whether there was anything right or wrong about it. It was just something I'd never done before, and I thought it was super cool. We got it home and decorated it before any other of the family showed up. You know, I'm still unclear why we waited until Christmas Day to do this, but my Dad would always "celebrate" Christmas but he wasn't real gung ho about trees and decorations, so I'm guessing that he had to try to be more "festive" for the rest of the family to show he wasn't a Scrooge.

I remember my favorite presents I got that Christmas too: a Tonka Dumptruck

and a Texaco Fire Chief helmet with sound effects.

My best friend got the Tonka Cement Mixer, so we went crazy the next day. It was great!

Thursday Next's Avatar
I never could get the hang of Thursdays.
* What are your favorite Christmas movies?
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Die Hard
Scrooge
The Muppet Christmas Carol

* What has always been one of your favorite Christmas traditions?
I always loved the Christmas markets you get some places like Germany.

On the other hand my least favourite tradition is shops playing Christmas music right through November and December. It means that by the time it actually is Christmas you are sick to death of 'Last Christmas' and 'Merry Xmas'.

*What do you plan to do on Christmas Day?
Hope my kids don't get up too early for a start! We will most likely go to my parents. Open presents in the morning, then have Christmas dinner (pancakes, roast potatoes, mash, veg, mmmm...) then play family games (we don't watch tv on Christmas Day, although almost always watch a Christmas film on Christmas Eve). This year will be baby Saturday's first Christmas so that will be nice

* Does it snow/get cold where you live?
Sometimes. Fingers crossed for this year...

* Is Christmas your favorite holiday?
Yes!

* Why do we kiss under the mistletoe?
Why not?

* Why does Santa Claus deliver presents?
He works for Amazon?

* Describe the origination of Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. What do recipients do on their day(s) of celebration
I have no idea, so I'll keep an eye out for other answers on this thread. Where I live people mostly celebrate Diwali or Christmas. Or both if they are feeling particularly multicultural/work for the council.

Merry Christmas

Challenging Questions (Post an answer if you would like to. First 5 to answer correctly get free reputation.)
* Why do we kiss under the mistletoe?

Because we can. I can kiss under cobwebs, a pine branch hanging from the ceiling, or pretty much anywhere.

* Why do we give people presents on Christmas?

Read the above statement, first sentence

* Why are Christmas colors red, white, and green?

I really don't know

* Where does Christmas come from?

The legend of St. Nicholas. I believe that he passed out presents to poor children. I could be completely wrong though.

* Why does Santa Claus deliver presents?

Because it's easier than going shopping and trying to find a parking spot.

* Why do we decorate a Christmas tree?

Because pine trees are boring

* How come we use Christmas stockings?

They're easier to hand than snow boots.
