Twin Peaks was coincidentally also my #5. Throughout high school, that was my favourite show, even with the lacklustre second half of Season 2. I've gotten a few friends of mine and they all loved it as much as I did and still do.

I had Twin Peaks as my #10. The drop in quality during the second half of season two definitely keeps me from rating it too highly, but otherwise a solid piece of work.

The People's Republic of Clogher
Yeah, I always considered myself in the minority for really liking season 2.
I'd put season 2 behind only season 4 on my list of Wire-love.

I was having a conversation about the show on a non movie forum recently and the general consensus was that the second season sucked.

They're all philistines.

Yeah, I went into season two knowing that people thought it was a huge drop in quality from the first but I think having those kind of low expectations probably improved my opinion. Still not sure how I'd rank the first four seasons, though (that's actually a good question, does anyone not rank season 5 as their least favourite?).

Speaking of season two, when I get around to re-watching it I'll probably be too weirded out by the fact that Nick Sobotka is played by Pornstache from Orange is the New Black.

They're all philistines correct.
There you go, Tactitus. I've corrected that embarrassing typo for you.
though (that's actually a good question, does anyone not rank season 5 as their least favourite?).
I'd have to watch them again, but it's possible that I'd have season 2 as my least favourite. It's certainly between two and five for that 'honour'. In my mind, it's season 2, however, having only seen The Wire once, it does suffer from feeling/being so different from the first season, which I loved. Suddenly there were all these other people that I couldn't give a **** about. If they'd gotten in the way it would've been bad enough, but that they were the main focus of season two really pissed me off.

I had Twin Peaks at #5. The second season does indeed fall off, and it falls pretty flat, I must say. I like the finale, if only because it was so damn weird, and sort of a big F-U to viewing audiences by Frost and Lynch. The first season is some of the best TV ever produced, period. Like most of my hows near the top, I have seen the entire run multiple times.

I've seen a season and a half of "Twin Peaks", I like the weird stuff and Agent Cooper is a great character, but I don't get what all the fuss is about. Need to finish it soon, I have around 12 episodes left I think.

I think I rank The Wire seasons 4, 2, 3, 1, 5

I'm do a rewatch and it might be that three and one could possibly switch after I do, but I'm certain the rest would stay the same.

4. A Game of Thrones (2011 - )

Winter is coming!

Theme song

Quotes: “I am a Khaleesi of the Dothraki. I am the wife of the great Kahl and I carry his son inside me. The next time you raise a hand to me will be the last time you have hands.” - Daenerys Targaryen

Tyrion: Let me give you some advice bastard. Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not. Wear it like armor, and it can never be used to hurt you.
Jon: What the hell do you know about being a bastard?
Tyrion: All dwarfs are bastards in their father's eyes.

When you play the game of thrones, you win or you die. There is no middle ground. ~ Cersei Lannister

A fantasy drama series adapted from the series A Song of Fire and Ice by George R.R. Martin.

Pricey Show: It costs roughly six million as episode to make. Some episodes such as Blackwater went up to 8 million to produce.

The fact that it's filmed in three continents and six countries add to the costliness of the show.

Title Sequence: it won its own Emmy, and rightly so. It's hard to deny it has a pretty cool opening.

There are three landmarks that have appeared in every single episode and if you watch the show you probably already know that they are WinterFell, King's Landing and The Wall.

Me nem nesa- The Dothraki and Valyrian were created by a linguist
so that the characters could speak it. Fans can learn the language themselves. Books and other media are available to teach you the language. Me nem nesa.

Dire Wolves: they did exist but they have been extinct for a long long time. They were about 25% bigger than a grey wolf.

Sansa's Wolf: Sadly her wolf met with tragedy in the show but not so in real life. The actress adopted the dog that played her wolf. Aww. I feel better now.

Welcome to the human race...
I didn't vote for Game of Thrones because I figured it was that much of a lock (and seeing as I voted for other obvious locks like Sopranos or Wire, that's saying something). i watched the first two seasons on DVD, then while I waited for the third to come out on DVD I read the entire Song of Ice and Fire series, which are very good books in their own right. I've only seen one episode of season four and I'm all too aware of the various deviations (for better or worse) from the source material, and while it's got great production and solid performances, I guess I'm more than a little averse to thinking it's one of the best shows of all-time.

I had GoT at 18. Again that was tactical more than where I would put it in terms of favorites. I just didn't feel like it needed to much of my help. You all can blame me that it didn't get the number 3 spot.

Never has a pilot grabbed me like that. Even my beloved Buffy took awhile for me to get into.

I hope the show doesn't deteriorate in quality the way the last book did. That is worrisome.

GOT was my #22. Like the books, I think the first two seasons were tremendous. After that there is still some good stuff but it starts to decline for me. In fact I still need to watch the second half of last season because I got rid of my HBO. The fact I did that in the middle of the season says a lot about how I am starting to feel about the show. I will still watch but I am not as excited as I used to be. Also, enough with the soft corp porn, your HBO, we get it.

I hope the three landmarks you're referring to are in the title sequence and not the episodes.

I had Game of Thrones high, it's such a good show.

Twin Peaks, I lost interest once they revealed who killed Laura.

Yeah, last season wasn't near as good as I hoped. The unfortunate thing about GoT is that the first season was so phenomenal that it hasn't been able to live up to the bar it set.

Who was it that used to have that Ned Stark on the iron throne pic as their avatar for the longest time? It's bugging me that I can't remember.
