All in all, though its a marmite film for movie goers, its still a relatively deep movie and has its fair share of jumps, sci-fi, mystery, comedy and tragedy and is Shayamalans best written work next to Unbreakable.

Its a very enjoyable film but if youre after a meteor/disaster movie that has a bit more storyline, better characters and depth (ahem), watch Armageddons release-date-rival called Deep Impact.

The name "Steven Seagal" is synonymous with the word "abysmal" nowadays, but there was a time when the man could carry a pretty decent action film.

I will say though, that the CGI is pretty good, its rendered well and the aliens themselves are (albeit nothing like the original film or the book) pretty original and well rendered.

Other than that, all in all, its an enjoyable film for anyone who hasnt read the short stories, and for teenagers who want to see exciting CGI action.

Bogdanovich's deeply allegorical debut feature might just be one of the best under-mentioned horror thrillers of all time ... incredibly suspenseful and moving, as well as being a dream swan song for Karloff; elevates it to greatness.
