I gotta admit I do get a special kind of pleasure out of vindictiveness, but the judge/jury/executioner caricature of Judge Dredd never appealed to me, though admittedly I know pitifully little about it, I've not seen the Stallone movie.

Even if you're unfamiliar with the previous attempt or with the comic series in general, Pete Travis' 2012 film Dredd offers a beautifully violent, action-packed movie bursting with style that will satisfy anyone nostalgic for the R-rated action films of the 80s.

I'd definitely hold this up as one of the best action movies of the 2010s, and though there's no telling what's likely to come along in the next few years, there's no doubt that Dredd will be waiting to take on any comers (hopefully including its own sequel).

One thing though is lack of robots and other gizmos involved in the comics, including changes to Dredd's Lawmaster Bike, but due to a low budget the movie had to make a few cuts here and there.
