Of course, films aren't "true" and never will be, but this one attempts to intermingle literature, movies, and history, all at the service of telling a story about what one highly-creative character believes she sees, the horrible repercussions on her loved ones due to her acts and how she attempts ...

It is really a tragically and beautifully told story and knows how to play at ones heart strings. And it does so extremely well.

Once again, the fantastic war scenes, show through, what would they be without Oscar nominee (for this movie) Seamus McGarveys way of capturing it.

I have no problem admitting that Atonement had me in pieces. Pure poetry put to screen.

I thought the pair of them played their roles well and they really share only a few scenes throughout the movie, but when the two are together there is a genuine energy between them that really got me to care for both their characters and the terrible predicament they were in.
