It makes the movie not just an atmospheric movie where surroundings are just part of the background and characters behave like the script says but instead you see the surroundings/atmosphere actively interfere with the investigation.

In addition to the compelling main narrative provided by the detectives constantly trying to close the case by tracing whatever leads they can (especially when the killer's modus operandi involves certain observable events), there are various smaller plots that are brought up and resolved throughout...

The film presents the contrasting fortunes of two of these investigators; local cop Detective Park Doo-man and Detective Seo Tae-Yoon, a young investigator sent from Seoul to assist the department.

I am kind of bored with the movie already, there is no blood in a serial killer movie and the story is just starting off really slow.

Based on a true story about a series of murders in south Korea, it follows 2 detectives ( one a local incompetent neanderthal the other an intelligent detective from Seul ) in their attempts to find the killer.

[I]Memories of Murder[/I] is probably the overall most pleasant serial killer film I've ever seen and certainly worth a watch to anyone with an open mind.
