But lets be honest, in a John McTiernan movie you want a movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat, and this Cold War thriller certainly delivers.

I had not really gotten around to seriously checking out any of the Jack Ryan movies and I decided that if I had to watch one then it'd have to be The Hunt for Red October.

When Connery, the ship's Russian captain appears to go rogue, you have the premise of the movie, where Baldwin plays the CIA submarine nerd tasked with convincing the US military to risk the opportunity to attack the sub on the belief that Connery's actually defecting, which he is.
