Citizen Rules
Usually a movie that was made from a musical stage production had a large number of the songs cut, so that the story line and dialogue could be expanded for a movie audience.

Even though he had spent years as a Hollywood movie villain, Robert Preston did not become an official star until he accepted the role of "Professor" Harold Hill in Meredith Wilson's Broadway classic, The Music Man.
