Rushmore question....?

In Rushmore, there are a few refrences to the movie "Heat". durring the "Serpico" play one of the characters snaps his fingers twice and says "Where I got'a be" like in Heat where Pacino's character is talking to his wife saying "It keeps my sharp" (snaps) "On the edge" (snaps) "where I gotta be....

Also when Max buys the explosives for his finall pay (the one about 'nam). Max shows the man his lisenens, which he dosen't have (hes 15) tells the man to make the order out to "something something, tuson, arizona" In Heat Val kilmers character buys explosives in the exact same way and says " make the order out to tax demolition tuson, arizona"

Does anyone know why wes and owen wrote it that way. Are they big fans of that film or Michael Man in general???????

Yes.
