I need help finding the title of korean or japanese horror movie

The movie is Korean or Japanese and it is a horror movie. The movie started with a mother and her son moving into a new building and strange stuff starts happening in their apartment suite, I can't exactly remember what happens. They later find out that there is someone lurking within the walls of the building including their suite. It showed the backstory of the troubled person that was lurking in the walls. The lurkers family were squatters I am pretty sure and they were a troubled family. The family had their house or the village burnt down and they died in the fire but he or she survived. The movie was from 2004 or somewhere around the early 2000's.The movie is NOT Hide and Seek or Dark Water.
