Rotten Tomatoes got this wrong: The Brown Bunny

Tools

If you have not heard of the controversy with Chole Sevigny and the movie The Brown Bunny you may as well stop reading. Now for the people that know what I am referring to get this. In the Rotten Tomatoes Movie Info section they tell what the movie is about who directed it etc. Plus they rate it. They rated it with a "G" rating. Below is what a G means

Rated G: General Audiences – all ages admitted

Since the movie is 14 years old, I wonder why you bring up its controversy now?

Cause I just now saw how they rated it on Rotten Tomatoes. Just surprised a movie that sexually graphic they would give it a G rating.

That movie really sucks dick. (haven't actually seen it, just know the "scene")

.... that's all I could think of to reply with. I've heard mixed thoughts about the film itself. Can't understand why it'd have a G-rating though. Must have been an oversight.

You can't win an argument just by being right!

good lord. This place seems to have turned into a discussion board for 13 year olds lately.

This is what we call a joke. I won't claim it was clever, but it was stupid and harmless. (Making reference to the controversial sex scene in the film that featured unsimulated oral sex.) People make jokes from time to time. I have been on this forum for five years now, humor's almost always been a part of it. It was a playful light-heart comment.

Chill out, everything doesn't have to be a platform for you to complain about how much you dislike the site's members.

Oh for god's sake. Thanks for proving my point.

I always thought that the scene was unsimulated & that Chloë was giving her ex-boyfriend a blow job. But I recently found out that, in fact, a prosthetic was used.

Do you have a source? I'm not saying you're wrong, but when I search it, I find a lot of sources, like Chloe Sevigny, saying it wasn't a prosthetic, and can't find many naysayers. I read something about Vincent Gallo being mad at a critic for saying it was a prosthetic, stating that the cost for a prosthetic would be too much for their budget. I need closure on this matter, pronto.

Oh, for fun, I found this quote from Ebert about the film after the director called him "fat" because his negative review: Ebert responded with, "It is true that I am fat, but one day I will be thin, and he will still be the director of The Brown Bunny."

Yeah just looked into this and it seems it's not true. Apparently it started as a rumour on the IMDB boards and there's never been any evidence to back it up, none of the actors have said it was fake. Unless Stirchley has something on it that i didn't see.

There's also a rumour it wasn't Gallo since you can't see his face properly but there's no evidence i can see of that.

It'd be weird if it wasn't Gallo, considering I thought Chloe was willing to do it partially because they were already romantically involved.

Gallo denies dating her during it - http://www.express.co.uk/celebrity-n...ng-Brown-Bunny

Gallo is a POS though i'd believe Chloe before him. Anyway i was only saying that was another unconfirmed rumour.

No clue where I read that this year. Annoying since I have an excellent memory & whatever I read seemed convincing to me. I concede that I am mistaken.

Did anyone see Nymphomaniac? Amazing use of prosthetics & I assumed everything was real.

Nymphomaniac uses porn actors too during certain scenes i believe. I hate those films so much, i like Von Trier as well.

Gotcha.

Did he use porn actors? Not sure I knew that. I loved both parts of the movie though the self-abortion was totally gruesome.

Actually, those weren't prosthetic, believe it or not, the director hired "porn doubles" and let 'em go to down on each-other to make it more realistic.

I haven't seen Nymphomaniac, but I own the second film on DVD for some reason. I have, however, seen his film Antichrist (which also uses porn actors) and I thought it was unique. The first half was really good, the second half was the unique part that lands somewhere in the middle to me.

Edit: I feel like I should clarify, I am not necessarily for certain Nymphomaniac uses no prosthetics at all, on second-thought, as Antichrist used them for Dafoe toward the last half, I believe. But the sex-scenes themselves often used porn-doubles.

Yeah - http://www.mtv.com/news/1724571/nymp...ac-sex-scenes/

"Nymphomaniac" sure has caused quite the stir without even screening in that many theaters. The latest art house film from Lars von Trier made headlines for its orgasmic posters, an unusual discount for infants and — probably most notably — its use of digitally added porn doubles for the sex scenes.

Edit: I feel like I should clarify, I am not necessarily for certain Nymphomaniac uses no prosthetics at all, .
I'm pretty sure it did for a few scenes, like the Stacy Martin oral sex on the train but yeah most of it was porn doubles like i said.
