What did Forrest Gump say?

Something really strange has happend, In every recording of Forrest Gump the famous line has been changed from "Life is like a Box of chocolates" to 'Life was like of chocolates"

Everybody does not remember the line that way.

Even the title of the this Youtube video saids "Life is like a Box of chocolate".

Are we living in an alternative reality?

How do you remember the line?

It does sound like "was," and I thought that's what it was growing up. But the saying itself is "is," because that's closer to what his mother tells him later. So either he says it weirdly (he was eating at the time, I think), or he just misstates what his mother told him slightly.

I remember it as was. Remember, he's speaking in the past tense. As it became a quotable line, people used it in the present tense.

"... you never know what you're gonna get..."

Yes you do. You're gonna get chocolates.

Life is like. Pfft.

It's Forrest Gump talking. If anyone's gonna be bad at grammar, it's more likely to be Forrest Gump.
