Saw last 2 minutes. 1960s 'Ealing' type film. Crowds of people running up the flights of stairs holding their noses. They burst into the apartment and find an old lady innocently taking her dead and decomposing husband a cup of tea. Cuts to credits. Weird!

Nice one! It was that 60s style colour, almost Ealing Comedy style. They were all running up the stir well holding their faces and gagging at a stink. They burst in and there is this old dear saying "Here's a nice cup of tea for you dear" and it's this ghastly rotted corse propped up in bed. What the hell was it I'd love to know!

This sounds somewhat like Faulkner's story "A Rose for Emily." The story ends with the townspeople wandering through an old woman's mansion & finding a corpse in the master bedroom with a long grey hair next to it on the pillow. Any modern version probably would have the more exciting ending you describe. Hope this helps.

A Rose for Emily (1983) is a 27 minute short starring Anjelica Huston, John Carradine and John Randolph, also with Perry Lang, Frances Bey and Sally Kirkland.

It can be purchased on Amazon.
