Hi All,
I need help recalling a name of an old movie I've seen .
It tells the story of a British officer (intelligence, I think ) , who wants to date a girl , but she refuses him since he isnt rich, so the guy thinks of a plan :
He hides some top secret files behind the filing cabinet and escapes to a desolated island for a short period of time - not telling any one...
While he is away , rumors start that he has defected to USSR and given top secret files are missing - the news declares him as a defector and traitor (that was his plan) , on his attempt to return , his escape boat sinks and he is really stuck on the island , but eventually he manages to get out and indeed he harvests the fruits of the false allegations of him being a traitor and sews the newspapers and becomes rich.
it's a black & white film , i think something from the 50's
I thought it was laurence olivier , who was the hero , but I'm not sure and I didnt manage to find any clue on that
help would be highly appreciated
