A Prophet

I saw this film recently (A Prophet 2009) and have to say it is one of the best films I have seen. I mentioned this to a friend and he asked me, why? I proceeded to tell him about the narrative and the gritty drama that unfolds as a young man rises in a brutal prison system. Has anyone else got any insight as to why they did or didn't like the film?

I also liked this movie very much and liked how a smart and young Algerian guy games the Corsican gangsters and the French system.
The story line and pace of the movie were riveting and one couldn't help but like the main character's cool.
This movie won many Cezar Awards and Best Picture at Cannes.
In 2010, it was nominated for Best Foreign Film at the Oscars.

Yea he develops into a pretty cool character. I really liked the shootout scene in which he seems to have a sort of moment of clarity at the bottom of the van, in a hail of bullets.
