Gambling in James Bond and other movies

It's a pirate's life for me.
I watched Skyfall recently, and afterward I HAD to watch Casino Royale. I realized the card game really upped the overall vibe of the film. I also love Rounders, and even light-hearted takes like Maverick (Mel Gibson) are really exciting. Does anyone else feel the same way? What are some other movies centered around great gambling moments? OHHHH - mustn't forget The Sting. That scene with Paul Newman busting Robert Shaw's chops was so classic...

We've gone on holiday by mistake
I love Rounders but I hate it when big movies have a ridiculous card scene where Royal Flushes>Straight flushes>Four of a kind>Full houses like in Casino Royale/Maverick. For someone who plays regular Poker those scenes are just nonsense.

My favorite is from Lock,Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.Don't want to spoil it so it's just the beginning of the scene.

Check out Diggstown; it's mostly about Con men, but the whole plot is centered around a bet.
Thanks Cricket - I'll have to check it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure those would be really dumb to a true poker player. I play music, and it's always amusing to see actors pretending to be musicians in movies. Probably a similar effect.

My favorite gambling scene is from The Great Sinner with Gregory Peck. It has one eerie scene where Peck's character has lost all his money, and he sees a ghost of someone who killed himself when he lost everything. The ghost, who is played by Frank Morgan of Wizard of OZ fame, gives a very creepy performance when he tries to convince Peck to kill himself.

The scene in Guys and Dolls where they shoot crap and Marlon Brando sings Luck Be A Lady Tonight.

I wish James bond would die in a movie for once and for all. The stories are so lame and never ever have been interesting. I hope he gets shot in the face in the next movie

Ah yes, fun for all the family. The stories were always lame, although The Living Daylights or On Her Majesty's Secret Service were the closest to having stories.

Can't please everyone I suppose, but then even people who hate the franchise usually at least have a little respect for From Russia, With Love, which Richard Maibaum and Terence Young made in the style of a Hitchcockian thriller, and did a damn good job of it too.

Also, even many of the ones with "lame" stories have plenty of amusing escapism, charm and witty dialogue, although not all moviegoers are looking for such things in their films. I for one love the features directed by Terence Young, and I'd call most of the rest enjoyable if not particularly memorable. Goldfinger for one is ridiculously overrated, and the plot is absolutely paper-thin. Hardly anything even happens except at the very beginning and very end.
