SCREAM 4

Directed by Wes Craven
Released in 2011

Plot:
Ten years have passed, and Sidney Prescott, who has put herself back together thanks in part to her writing, is visited by the Ghostface Killer.

Why You Should Watch It:
It's a decent movie that brings the '90s Scream generation into the 21st century. Good Halloween vibe to it. Not too heavy and yet not too weak, either. Good ending to it.

THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT

Directed by Daniel Myrick & Eduardo Sanchez
Released in 1999

Plot:
Three film students vanish after traveling into a Maryland forest to film a documentary on the local Blair Witch legend, leaving only their footage behind.

Why You Should Watch It:
Good movie. Creepy atmosphere. A monumental horror film that isn't stupid. One of the last such films, if you ask me.

URBAN LEGEND

Directed by Jamie Blanks
Released in 1998

Plot:
A college student suspects a series of bizarre deaths are connected to certain urban legends.

Why You Should Watch It:
If you loved the Scream movies, I think you'll like this movie. It's a total Scream clone and a good one. Since it takes place at a college, it's sort of like Scream 2, Part 2. The faux Scream 3 we should have got.

Also, Jared Leto is in it, so the movie is even more profound now because of that.

Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning

Directed by Danny Steinmann
Released in 1985

Plot:
Still haunted by his gruesome past, Tommy Jarvis - the boy who killed Jason Voorhees - wonders if somehow he is connected to brutal slayings occurring in and around the secluded halfway house where he now lives.

Why You Should Watch It:
This movie is trashed as the worst Friday the 13th movie and it doesn't deserve that title at all. Swan will agree with me. At least, he did once. We did a commentary to this movie.

This is a funny and entertaining Jason movie -- although Jason's not really in it. That's why people don't like it. It's a copycat Jason on the loose. I say, hey -- at least they tried to do something different.

Jason isn't always the killer in the Friday the 13th movies -- in the first movie, it's his mother. In Jason Goes To Hell, it's Jason's spirit jumping between different bodies. They are a very creative lot over there at the Friday the 13th team when you think about it.

Also, I love the new blue stripes on Jason's hockey mask. Stylin'.

CRITTERS 3

Directed by Kristine Peterson
Released in 1991

Plot:
The tiny fur ball aliens that will eat anything or anyone set their sights on a Los Angeles apartment tower.

Why You Should Watch It:
Well, I need to watch it, actually. I've never seen it. But I'll be getting around to it eventually.

Why? Because Leonardo DiCaprio's in it. It's got to be great because of that.

I love Critters 2, but I never bothered seeing Critters 3. I did see Critters 4, where they went to outer space. I haven't even seen the first Critters, to be honest.

FUNNY MAN

Directed by Simon Sprackling
Released in 1994

Plot:
When Max Taylor wins the ancestral home of Callum Chance in a game of Poker, little does he realise that the game is far from over... One by one, Max's family are murdered by the Funny Man, a demonic jester with a varied and imaginative repertoire of homicidal techniques and an irreverent sense of humour. Meanwhile, Max's brother is on his way to the mansion with a bunch on hitchhikers who will be lucky to survive the night.

Why You Should Watch It:
Again -- another movie I actually haven't seen. I'm sorta now making a list of movies I need to remind myself to see soon.

It looks awesome. I remember reading about this movie in an old Fangoria magazine back in 1994, then I never heard about it again. Twenty years later, I remember it and I go looking for something about it and I finally found that it does indeed exist.

That's Christopher Lee as the murderous jester. I don't know if it's any good, but it looks like it is. I'm including it so you all will know about it, too.

I think it looks like something JayDee would love.

WARLOCK

Directed by Steve Miner
Released in 1989

Plot:
A warlock flees from the 17th to the 20th century, with a witch-hunter in hot pursuit.

Why You Should Watch It:
Don't worry, I've seen this one.

It's a great movie about an evil, murderous warlock chasing after some people. Julian Sands is terrific as the villain. He's only in one Warlock sequel after this. There could have been a much bigger franchise with him, I feel.

WARLOCK: THE ARMAGEDDON

Directed by Anthony Hickox
Released in 1993

Plot:
The Son of Satan attempts to bring his father to Earth with the aid of some mystic stones.

Why You Should Watch It:
And here's the Warlock sequel with Julian Sands.

This is a really good movie, too. Directed by the guy who made Hellraiser III (like that matters with you people).

Super Nintendo actually released a Warlock video game around the time this movie came out. Unfortunately, I never played it.

WOMAN: "I must look a mess! Oh, God! Oh, this mirror's so small. I can't see my hair! It must look awful! Tell me the truth -- how does it look?"

Warlock turns and rips off the woman's hair and scalp.

WARLOCK: "Here! See for yourself!"

THE WIZARD OF GORE

Directed by Herschell Gordon Lewis
Released in 1970

Plot:
A TV talk-show hostess and her boyfriend investigate a shady magician whom has the ability to hypnotize and control the thoughts of people in order to stage gory on-stage illusions using his powers of mind bending.

Why You Should Watch It:
I've never seen it, but why should that stop me from putting it on the list?

It looks like it would be good.

There's so many movies I need to see and probably never will.

MAKE A WISH

Directed by Sharon Ferranti
Released in 2002

Plot:
"Make A Wish" In the tradition of Friday the 13th and other classic horror films, Make A Wish tells the story of a group of women who get together once again for an annual birthday camping trip. The common denominator in this group of gay and straight girls is Susan: all of the campers are exes of hers. All except Andrea, who is Monica's new girlfriend, and not very pleased to be dragged along on this ridiculous outing. Linda, now straight, left her boyfriend Steve pouting at home, annoyed that she wanted to leave him for the weekend for a romp in the woods with the girls. Chloe, the aggressive vegetarian, and Dawn, whom Susan recently dumped, complete the group. Linda and Monica suspect that Susan's been cheating on Dawn, and they're surprised when Dawn opts to come on the trip in the first place. Before the rest of the group arrives, Susan has a run in with Steve, who shows up looking for Linda. Zeke, a rough-looking outdoorsman, convinces Steve with a little physical violence to leave Susan alone, but Steve doesn't go far. Also looking for someone is Detective C.K. McFarland # but for whom-or for what-is he looking? By the time the girls set up camp, tensions between Andrea and Susan are running high, and Linda has her eye on Monica, who doesn't mind looking back. Chloe is mad because there is no vegan food, and Dawn is performing healing rituals that look a lot like witchcraft. Michelle, the final camper, is supposed to be arriving any minute, but god knows she's always late. So when Chloe takes off on her bike to go to shopping,, nobody thinks much of it, And when Andrea disappears with the car, well, it's just because she's angry because Monica kissed Linda by the fire isn't it? But how come Chloe isn't back? And how come Michelle never showed up? And how come people keep disappearing?

Why You Should Watch It:
Well... if you can find it... it's a lesbian horror film. Lesbians go camping and they get killed one by one.

They're not hot lesbians, though.

No, it really wasn't about rep. I was just bored with the countdown. But since I got a lot of rep, I felt I owed it to people to finish what I started.
