When the movie is BETTER than the book

I haven't read the Jurassic Park books but I've heard a few say on other forums they're not as good as the films.

Papillon. Trumbo may have been a communist, but he also had outstanding writing chops.

Might not count, but 2001 is way better than The Sentinel, which is a book that became the inspiration for the film.

Roger Altman's version of The Long Goodbye is far better than the book in my opinion.

Not a movie but the TV show "True Blood" was waaay better than the books. The books were tiny, the characters were more fleshed out on screen.
