Tell Your Children (better known as Reefer Madness)

A propaganda film on the dangers of marijuana, that is fun to watch while high on marijuana ... OOPS!

The musical is fun too.

Hey Mark F, as a teacher, do you use documentary films as part of your lesson plan?

if so, what have you shown, or which subjects/grade do you teach, perhaps i could reccomend a few for you.

Saw Exit Through the Gift Shop (2010) by Banksy the other day. It was really cool. If you like Banksy's street art you should definitely check this one out, although the main subject for the film isn't Banksy himself but Thierry Guetta a.k.a. Mr Brain Wash.

They had temporarily escaped the factories, the warehouses, the slaughterhouses, the car washes - they'd be back in captivity the next day but
now they were out - they were wild with freedom. They weren't thinking about the slavery of poverty. Or the slavery of welfare and food stamps. The rest of us would be all right until the poor learned how to make atom bombs in their basements.

Yeah, just a bizarre story. Kinda sad too, I thought. Thierry, while an interesting story for a film (Banksy was definitely right about that one), obviously had some mental problems. Guess it may not really matter though, since the guy literally, became a millionaire overnight. Hope he didn't piss it all away.

Catfish is just about as freaky of a story as one might want to watch if you're at all interested in who you talk to online. I thought it was terrific and terrifying.

^ This was on a lot during my childhood, so first watched it at a really really early age and can remember it creeping me out. Amazing documentary film. Not as keen on the other two in the trilogy.

If you have an interest in an inside view of the creative process, I strongly recommend a doc called This So-Called Disaster. Marvelously personal and powerfully moving.

I have never seen a documentary more harrowing or gut wrenching than Dying at Grace. It follows 5 cancer patients through their last dying days at a hospital in Canada. No talking heads, no interviews, just simply filming the last days of their lives. It's something I will never forget
