The best fight scene that didn't use highwire assistance was Jet Li versus General Guda in Fist Of Legend! That whole movie had unforgettable fight scenes but the last one was the best. If you haven't seem it, your missing out!

Of course crouching tiger hidden dragon. The last fight scene in legend of drunken master. Amazing! The first fight scene in hot shots part deux. And I can't wait to see the fight scenes in dead or alive the movie.

While all the fight scenes it The Matrix are cool my personal favourite has to be the final one where Neo realises that he is "the one" and while Agent Smith is trying to beat the hell out of him is calmly checking his nails and looking generally nonplussed. Cracks me every time!

Final scene in The One. Jet Li has definitely taken on the mantle from Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan.

Qui-Gon Jinn - Obi-Wan Kenobi - Darth Maul. This scene was great and remember the audience cheering Obi-Wan on in the cinema!

I also enjoyed the fight scenes in Blade II, especially the first one where Blade is fighting the two Vampire agents in his hideout.

The lightsaber scenes at the end of The Phantom Menace. Even though I like the movie The Matrix a lot more, I prefer the fight scenes in TPM.

The fight scene between Wayne and Cassandra's dad in Wayne's World 2.

I'm a big fan of Steven Seagal. Martial arts people tell me his fighting is more realistic than say VanDamm. Because people actually get hurt in Seagal films, he breaks wrists, breaks legs, people don't get back up after a beating. Its anti-dramatic but its gritty and real. Its also so fast sometimes.

Another one is the final fight in Last of the Mohicans, same thing. 3 seconds and its over.

Ah, greetings Aspen.

I like Stephen Segal's films. I'm a big fan of the Under Seige films.

I agree about LOTM--all the fight scenes there were great. The massacre after the surrender was brutal.

Along the same period vein, The Patriot had some good stuff. The first one, where Mel hacks the British soldiers to bits in front of his two kids--all I could say was, d*mn. I have issues with that movie, though.

Brotherhood of the Wolf kicked major anachronistic butt, I must say--the first fight scene in the rain, then the one later with Dacascos by himself... yum.

And it's not really a fight scene, but my favorite part of the Matrix has to be the helicopter crash into the building. When a friend of mine first got the DVD we'd get drunk and play that scene over and over with the speakers blaring... ah, the old days...

Back with a bang!
Altough I don't generally care for Van Damme, I really enjoyed most of the fighting scenes in The Quest, probably because the fighters' styles are very much like the ones used in the Tekken series (video games)

I also like Segal when he fights, but as soon as the fights are over, I grow tired of him VERY quickly.

But for some serious entertainment value, try to find a fight scene in a porn movie, they are usually hillarious, blows "hit" a feet from the face, the *smack* sound arrives two seconds too late etc. Great stuff.

Some more good fight scenes weather they've been taken or not I'm to lazy to go threw the thread.

Spider-man vs The Green Goblin which I'm sure people have already mentioned.

John Sayles Alien Flick Brother From Another Planet has a super fun kick butt fight in a bar.

The Knife fight in Rebel Without a Cause

Ripley's fight against the Alien in Aliens

I can pretend that things last.
Jackie Chan in Legend of the Drunken master against one guy(forgot name). Awesome timing and superb stunts.

Obi Wan vs Darth in Star Wars.
Luke vs Darth Vader in Empire Strikes Back.
Luke Vs Darth in Return of the Jedi.

Hmmm...fight scenes. I don't think I've seen any good fight scenes recently. Certainly none in AOTC.
D'oh. Rub salt in my wounds while you're at it!

I'm not old, you're just 12.
Oh, come on! Yoda throwing down on Christopher Lee's evil Jedi @ss was classic!

Two of the funniest fight scenes I've seen are both in O Brother, Where Art Thou?. John Goodman as Big Dan the Cyclops robbing Clooney after knocking him senseless with a tree-branch (before killing 'Pete') is simply hilarious. Then George once again being beaten senseless by his wife's fiancee in Woolworths (who looks like Icabod Crane), they're both really, really funny fight scenes.

Great too see a reference to a Takeshi Kitano film. Check out Sonatine for a more refined version of the Kitano (non) action scene.

The greatest fight in cinema history is featured in Baby Cart at the River Styx. The hero, Ogami Ito squares up against the Hidari brothers (John Carpenter suppossedly based the lords of death in BTILC on these villains).

Has anyone seen Cyborg starring "The muscles from Brussels"?The fights where he escapes from the derelict building through the sewers and duels with the staff wielding villain are superb.
