New Jay and Silent Bob?

AICN ran a story about Kevin Smith promising Jason "Jay" Mewes to write a new Jay and Silent Bob movie due to his getting sober. Does anyone else find it a bit of a step back for Mewes to become sober and to then go back to playing a character who is a enormous drug addict, as well as a dealer?

I remember an interview with Smith in which he said the farthest J&SB will go is an animated 'Clerks' movie, which i believe is a great idea. On the other hand, i think he should retire that universe, (which was informally done at the very end of J&SB SB, when God, (Alanis Morisette) shuts the book entitled, the 'View Askewniverse.' As i said in another thread, he has agreed to do The Green Hornet, and im sure other creative projects will present themselves.
