I love horror movies as well. I'm not too much for just plain gore, I like more of a story. I think there have been some new ideas, they may just be few and far between. I thought 28 Days Later, which has become my new favorite horror movie, was brilliant. I've never felt so much for the characters in a horror movie as I did in this one. It thrilled me to the bone!
"The City of Lost Children" was another good one, and as far as I know, original. "Cabin Fever" was pretty gory for my taste, but I thought it was good and pretty fresh and "Evil Dead" still gets me everytime.
