Stand By Me

+ starts out great
+ really amazing acting toward the begining
+ story is exciting untill the half point
+ some really amazing shots

- once the movie reaches about 50 minutes : acting , story , and everything else it had going for it just go straight to hell
- ridiculously fake ending

C started out great , but died in the last half

Kill Bill : Volume 2

+ pai mei chapter
+ the whole movie untill the fight scene with eye patch person - is great
+ some cool visuals
- horrible ending
- second half of the movie is incredibly boring

C- quentin taratino's worst film by far

Dave Chappelle : Killin em Softly

+ a few laughs
- cameras are very minimal *no movement*
- more just dave talking about stuff rather than it being funny

D+ not worth watching

Dave Chappelle : For What it's Worth

+ tons of laughs
+ a lot better camera work

A- the one you should see

The T.V Set

+ very realistic tv show in a movie and other very authentic stuff
+ great acting
+ some really funny parts
+ story is going great untill ...
- ends abruptly

B+ enjoyable

Dave Chapelle's : Block Party

+ great camera work , captures a ton
+ tons of great songs and artists
+ some really funny parts
+ introduction to the area
- weakest performance for the end
- instead of following the party in normal order it changes from night to day to night

B+ Micheal Gondry's weakest film is still really good , although the credit really goes to everyone in the movie

Kill Bill : Volume 1

+ great action scenes
+ fast paced story (for the most part)
+ great ending
+ tons of great music
- pauses toward the end get obnoxiously long

B+ tons better than the sequel , can be viewed without ever seeing the second one

2007 Review so Far
--------------------
This year has been great for movies , IMO the best year for film. Hot Fuzz is my favorite movie - and it came out this year : but so many of my other favorites came out too. Next year is gona be nothing , with a movie from pretty close to every director this year.

1. Hot Fuzz A+ Edgar Wright
2. Grindhouse A+ Quentin Taratino and Robert Rodrigouz
3. Ratatouille A+ Pixar
4. Superbad A+ new director
5. Aqua Teen Movie A+ new director
6. Knocked Up A Judd Apatow
7. Zodiac A David Fincher
8. Rush Hour 3 A Brett Ratner
9. Spiderman 3 A- Sam Rami
10. 300 B+ - new director

and still coming out (predictions included)

1. American Gangster A+ Ridley Scott
2. There Will Be Blood A+ Paul Thomas Anderson
3. Darjeeling Limited A Wes Anderson
4. Southland Tales A Richard Kelly
5. No Country for Old Men B+ Coen Brothers

Young Frankenstien

+ some cool shots , and about 2 really short funny parts
- most jokes are dumb : probably went over my head
- could care less about the story

D not having seen a single frankenstien movie , if there was anything to get aside from the murdering of transitions to this : then i missed it

The Hoax

+ great acting
+ enjoyable story
+ realistic characters
- ending fails to follow up the story
- visuals lacking in some parts

A- lives up to it's hype

Ghost in the Shell

+ some really great visuals
+ pretty good voice acting
- seemingly no story
- boring
- compared to other anime's the animation is lacking

D- don't bother with it

Citizen Kane

+ tons of amazing visuals
+ orson welles performance is amazing
+ great character devolopement
- toward the end : kane's character becomes emotionless with nothing really driving the story
- ends out of nowhere

A- weak ending aside , this is a great film that has lasted over 60 years

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
I'm just wondering why your two minuses can't be perceived as pluses? Maybe, if you interpreted the film correctly, that's exactly what Welles & Co. intended with the last part of the film. You say that Kane becomes emotionless, but c'mon now, the last thing he thinks of is a memory to a happier time, before he knew he could have the whole world, but never get to keep hold of it.

Personally, I give the film a B+, but I have seen it probably 35-40 times, so I may be jaded. I know if I had to pick ONE film to teach a film class, this would be it, even if I don't believe it's the best film of its year.

the only thing we see of his childhood is that he gets taken away : since it seems his mother didn't care about him : so it brings up why would he even liike his childhood - which is never explained

I thought his mom did care for him. It was his pop who had no clue.
why would she send him away than : just to get him away from his father is the supposed reason , but now that she was getting a bunch of a money : she would easily be able to go with him to wherever he went - or go somewhere else

Alien

+ some really amazing looking still scenes
+ gets pretty intense at times
+ the design of the alien character is highly original (at the end though it looks like a guy in a suit)
- lots of long boring scenes (ship landing for example)
- out of place music
- horrible ship explosion at the end

B- another Ridley Scott movie that starts with a good idea and has samey visuals and long , boring shots
